Found this after I just bought my first optic, and went with the 510c. I liked the better field of view and I saw some reviews that it's still super durable
Really good points about the reflected light showing up on your face, and also about red tail lights... Holosun sells an anti-reflective cover for the 510... I wonder if it will fit the 512... but that still won't cover for light shining off your face. Anyway, thanks for the excellent review and comparison.
As a Brazilian jiujitsu instructor, I approve your message about saving a few bucks on your optic and taking some jiujitsu classes. That said, I'm maybe a blue belt shooter. Working on upping my shooting game. I just went with the 510C. Should be fine for home defense. Bought some extra ammo. Buying myself some shooting classes this Christmas as I was a good n worked my ass off to keep my jiujitsu school open through this pandemic. Might have to pair the optic with the flip to the side magnifier. Or maybe I should just go to the eye doctor and get stronger contacts/glasses.
jiujitsu experience definitely decreases the potential need for shooting skills. but blue belt level shooting is still a high bar for what the standard of "proficient" seems to be with everyone. the more I play with the 510 the more I like it, especially the month of bjj tuition it saved me
Nice Video. Thank You. It does definitely come down to application, use, and personal preference. I chose the 510C Red for my first red dot for a PC Carbine. I got it for $265 total with tax + shipping included. They are Virtually the same, except..... cost, open vs closed emitter, Quick release Battery tray, lol, vs Quick release mount, and very small amount of bulk + weight difference. You just have to weigh your preferences. I also like a large window with a thinner housing + my eyes play the same trick,...the 510 looking like a larger window, or taking less away from the full picture. With regards to color, same with, between red dot vs Holographic, ect., Everyone's eyes are far different.....so,..... It's hard to say with definite certainty which combo will work best for the individual. Whatever your brand, or optic I've recently learned,....Whenever possible, definitely check your options in person to see what your eyes like and find a middle ground with your eyes, mind, + your wallet. The 512 is $40 cheaper than the 510c. Should I pick the 512c for $299? I already have a 510c on my AK. absolutely love that sight, wouldn’t mind owning two but if the 512 is a good deal, I’ll pick that up.
Funny I own both ! I like them both...I like the 510"green" lens seems larger to me...the 512 "red" seems like it may be more durable..I just simply wanted to try the green reticle, all in what you want is what it comes down to.😎
I love the shake awake that holosun have. But I would put it on a bed side “ pistol “ so I would have to pick the 512c. I just wish it come with quick detach mouth. An they should bring back the green dot for the 512c
I just ordered the 510C-GR, I like the quick detach better on the 510 and I wanted the green reticle. I am gonna put it on an Extar 9mm PCC and I have a AEMS green for an AR-15 as well. Holosun makes great optics.
Finally. Ok assuming you've had both for a bit, what's your preference between the AEMS and the 510? Application, for me is a weight conscious 7.5 in pistol .300blk for home defense dealing with some odd angles, including up and down.
Closed emitter is fail safe. It doesn’t matter if you just plink at the range. We ultimately own and train for the zombie apocalypse! Do you want to put your life at a fraction of a risk for a view dollars. Don’t drink as much coffee lol

510c is my choice as well.
Love the video, but one thing that will tip the balllance in the 512 favor is the mount, its mount is much stronger

all three colors and quick detach should really be standard for both models. no idea why they aren't doing that already

I put a 510 on my extar. Funny to see somebody out there talking about that thing man. My favorite gun to shoot by far
