I just started really delving into pets/pet battles after just deciding not to bother with it for sooo long. I wish I would've started sooner! It's a lot of fun, great way to level alts, and make money! This vid helped me so much, thanks!! :)
If you are wondering which pets you should use your leveling stones on at first, I highly recommend the falcosaurs (bloodgazer, direbeak, sharptalon and snowfeather hatchling). Just google falcosaur and you will find a video or wowhead guide on how to get them (they are part of a mount questchain on the broken isles, you will need a lvl 110+ character). A team of 3 of these pets with falcosaur swarm and predatory strike will be able to beat 85% of all pet encounters. When in doubt, or when a strategy I tried failed, these can get the job done more often than not. I recommend leveling at least 1 of these (more specifically the sharptalon) before leveling the pets hazel mentioned (although they are all great picks). Hazels suggested pets are great for specific matchups which I find that the falcosaurs can often power through with their sheer OP'ness anyway.
Agreed to use stones on these; in addition to their effectiveness this is step one for each of these pets matching mount quest chain. Mmm, more mounts!

I thought the sound of pet battles was so Pokemon when I came back to WoW after a few years, however, I tried it when bored and surprisingly.. it is a lot of fun and collecting pets is just as addictive as mounts! nice guide :)
This is a great guide to pet battles & pet collecting. One of the things i have found out (the hard way) is that as tempting as it is to use double counters they don't always work. And some fights come down to RNG.

I finally found the missing information that had given me so much trouble! for me it was the pet tracker and ive been looking around at critters and not pets. Now that i know how to track pets in set! i had to watch this video a few times and have asleep on it before i was able to work everything out. haha

Also, if you have the Garrison (not sure if level 3 is needed), there's an easy quest (Unearthed Magic) that rewards you with a Ultimate Battle-Training Stone that boots your pet up to level 25, great way to set up your base team. Can be done once per character. Thanks. again !

This is useful for even non-newbies, I never knew about highest speed goes first I thought it was just random. I can 100% recommend the Stormborne Whelp as well, it does ridiculous damage against multiple enemies and I haven't replaced it in my teams since I got it.

Thank you Hazel for this type of guide for pet battling. Just on my 1st watch I learned some important info already. I'll be using this as a reference as I practice what I have learned for a long time to come. Pet battling isn't my kind of content usually but I like to experience all types of activities WoW has. Sometimes its just mindless fun to experiment with stuff you don't usually do but can be do discouraging failing at it, so thats why these types of guides interest me. (PetBattling) Now if you can only teach me how to PvP or Arena or instance healing :)
I mentioned this over a year ago during one of Hazels live streams and now there are a lot of people doing this, level a Anubisath Idol to 25, after that go to Pandaria Halfhill market area,(there is also a pet healer right outside of the inn) look for the cricket type pets to battle, 99% of the time they start with a healing move, put a level one pet in first slot Anubisath Idol in second and another level one or 5 in last slot, right after you start with your first pet and the cricket heals, swap immediately out to Anubisath, make sure his talents are set to Crush/sandstorm/deflection, use sandstorm 1st and re-apply when it drops, use him to take down other pets, if there is another cricket you can swap out and start that battle with another level one or low level pet , this will level your pets very fast from a level one to 4-5 the very first battle and it continues, once they are at least level 20, I go to Aki the choosen (battle pet tamer) if you need locations google,and Courageous Yon to level them further using Anubisath Idol to do all of the battles until the last pet is almost dead and then swap the lower level pets in for a move to get exp. this is an item that will help immensely once you get it, Taming the World is a pet battles achievement earned for defeating 40 master pet tamers (I would suggest beating the lower level tamers first) Upon completing, the [Safari Hat] is automatically added to the Toy Box. Remember to wear the Safari Hat this buff gives the 20% bonus pet experience, and the visual of wearing the Safari Hat (but your head slot item won't actually change). another added bonus is during a month when pet battle bonus event is on the calendar, if you have a character that needs leveling they will get bonus exp along with your pets! I started watching Hazel when she had just started and now have almost a 1000 pets most are level 25 and rare, it is fun to do the battles once you get started. P.S. if your idol or pets die go to the pet healer if the timer on your heal is not up, this is found in the upper right hand corner of the battle pet window. I hope this helps

Hi Hazel great vid, I have a Question or two, one is about changing your pets name. I going after one of each wild pet and wanted to know if changing it effects it on all the wow achievement? (if I name a rabbit hoppy will it still count as 1-3 Rabbits you are allowed) and 2nd do upgraded green-blue pets have the same statistics as a pure blue one? many thanks..
I think this answer comes little late but yes rabbit even if you change the name is still a rabbit Green-blue have the same as blue ones as long as its the same breed Breed as in h/h who has a lot of health or s/s who is really fast which helps if you want to go first or p/p does a lot more damage than s/s Hope the answer still help

Have the Wow Devs ever mentioned why you get so little exp now from BFA pet trainers? Is it solely because of the charms? At one time I thought they gave decent EXP, so I was putting in a lot of effort to be able to use 2 pet strats, but that changed a little while back. I never did hear why.
I do know when they started the achievement for Family Battler instead of having to wait for that Tammer to be up you can do it when ever you want. When this was done they cut the EXPs a bit. There has been some talk on Wowhead under pet battles.

I’m having trouble getting started. All of my pet slots have a lock 🔒 on them. I’ve boosted to 50 but have several characters that should be eligible to get the quests. It won’t let me put any pets in my pets lot even though I have 15 pets already. The pet trainer does not give me any quests. I’ve been messing around with this thing for five hours now. Nothing

The npc's dont offer me the option to do battles. Am I missing something?
