In this video I share my process in making 3 different veneered boxes. The boxes are walnut, cherry and maple and each have a veneered panel for their lids and base.
The maple box was finished using a water based top coat to keep the color of the wood as close to natural as possible. The other two boxes were finished with a garnet dewaxed shellac.

Truly outstanding! I wasn't quite sure how the veneer was going to come out but they all came out beautifully! Thank you for sharing!
+Tracy Keaton thanks Tracy!
Those all turned out beautifully. Thanks
That tape ripping gizmo looks neat! The box also looks amazing.
You're a very accomplished woodworker and those are three very nice boxes. I would call them hardwood boxes with veneered tops and bottoms. To me a veneered box is one completely made with veneer. Again, nice boxes.
How would you stack the veneers?
Wow those look amazing.
Thanks Tim!
Awesome Sean I always pick up some cool tricks when I watch your builds. Thanks
+Wayne Brown glad I can help! Thanks for watching Wayne!
Beautiful boxes. They are very much up to your standard. Nice work.
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing. That was really inspiring and given me a way to get started with veneering.
Enjoyed that - from start to finish 👌
Looks like you’ve done this many times before. Nice work.
Hey Sean! Another beautiful job. In particular, I love the look of that walnut box. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Paul
Nice job Sean. I bet you were mighty impressed with the shot at the 5:57 mark. Seamless joint!👍
Thanks man! Yeah, I was pretty happy with it lol. It's not an easy thing to do that's for sure.
Great work! Definitely want to try veneering in the new year.
Thanks Kevin. Give it a try!
Really beautiful boxes and wonderful work, Sean!
Appreciate it!
Incredible work Sean!
+Donny Carter Thanks Donny!
The boxes turned out nice. As a beginner, I wished you would have done a voice over or at least have captions telling us what kind of wood your using. I was able to figure them out other than the veneer. What species was it? Thanks
Very nice Sean!
Thanks Guy
Really nice.
+gsilcoful thanks for watching!
Beautiful boxes man, great work!
Thank you!
So Nice!
Thank you Tim!
Great work man, these are amazing. I think the maple's my favourite though!
Thank you Robin! I'm torn on which one I like best, probably the cherry.
Nice !!!!
well done
Thank you
I dig it.
And got myself a nice SimpleCove shirt!
+gsilcoful wow, thank you! Much appreciated.
What are you using to cut the veneers?
How is the kreg miter gauge? I have an incra model and it’s been murder to adjust it to get a perfect 90 degrees on my Sawstop job site saw... Always just a bit off.
It's a nice miter gauge but I fight with the stop block often. It either moves a touch or the knob is really hard to loosen. I've not checked it lately to see if its square to the blade, but all of my cuts have been looking good.
Hi, I looked into your amazon shop but the thing I was looking for was not there. It is the green think that fits on the masking tape and allows you to tear off lengths with one hand. If you could add this to your shop or point me in the right direction I would appreciate it
John, Thanks for reaching out. I've added it and I appreciate you supporting my channel! I love the tape cutter!
Three incredible boxes so nicely done. Was that Aqua Coat on the first box is a oil or water base or is it more like epoxy?? All three are so beautiful awesome work
Thank you very much! The Aqua Coat is a water based poly. I wanted to keep the maple nice and bright without any ambering from a poly or shellac.
SimpleCove [Sean Walker] Oh man Sean this is what I’ve been looking for I building my daughter a bed with head and foot board is Ambrosia maple with a ton of figure itching to let out. Thanks again.
Hi what grits did you use for sanding?
personally i don't care for video's with verbal explanations... for me it is boring
