This game somehow feels like the first to really take an honest shot at proximity chat. Poke holes in the graphics or animations or gameplay or programming, but the proximity chat in this game is the best I've ever seen.
I adore how Lethal Company looks. It has the look of older games with how it's stylized and honestly, I know more people who are scared of horror games with older gen graphics than uber realistic. It evokes a sense of nostalgia and adds to the horror while making it look more uncanny. It's great and you don't *try* as hard.
The aesthetic really does give a mix of analog horror and 90s movie vibes, so I think I know why I prefer it over the 4k graphics. Or is it because I don’t like using 30% of my storage on downloading it, only to realize that I get lag spikes every 5 seconds.
@@goodboi1725 haha the storage is also apart of it for me. Having the game run actually smooth instead of someone going "bro I'm frozen what are you talking about?" Every 10 minutes.
One of the ways it looks old that I actually like is that dark areas _actually look dark,_ like games from 2004-2007. Raytracing might be more "realistic" but it's more of a reason to take fancy marketing screenshots than it is lighting as a gameplay mechanic you have to actually leverage from moment to moment. Reminds me of how Doom 3's flashlight was hated on launch but once we saw it with BFG Edition's "you can light and shoot at the same time now" we realized "oh wait we're fucking stupid, that's fucking stupid, go back to flashlight being a separate weapon, it was cooler and adds more to the gameplay."
I agree that older games can be more scary, however, hyper-realistic can be equally as scary. I think lethal company works better with older graphics, but I ca. See why people go for realistic stuff.
It feels like each year we get more and more indie hit games that takes on the whole internet, it's good. this game was made by 1 dude and sold for 10$ as well which tells a lot about how the industry think about games.

I'm happy this game got so much recognition, it's so cool seeing a dev that i've been enjoying his stuff since day one (Zeekers have some amazing projects outside of this, like "It Steals" and "Upturned") and I hope it gets some much recognition later down the line
As a more long time fan of Zeekers, I am absolutely overjoyed to say that I have a picture of a time where Lethal Company surpassed the Steam Deck in top sellers
So, fun fact about that idea for a monster that mimics voices, the developer has actually made a reddit post on the Phasmaphobia subreddit a long time ago asking the Phasmaphobia devs to take full advantage of the voice recognition software of Lethal Company and make a monster that plays voice clips from players back to them to lure them away... I think it's looking like Zeekerss might just add something like that.
18:27 Goes to show why clips keep saying this game turns you into a professional voice actor. This is such a damn funny game to watch. And the creator saying they want to add so much more has me excited. I *hate* playing horror games but this may be the one exception soon
24:04 oh god… there is a mimic creature that been released in the new patch. Literally converts/kills you and then hunts down the other players. It so scary.
The pixelation as a means of blurring distant things is really Iconic in Zeekerss' works, and I think it helps to sort of recognise his games. His other works like It Steals and The Upturned are both really good games (albeit in different ways) but are still recognisable as having been made by Zeekerss thanks to the way they look, even though most of It Steals is played in pitch black darkness. Zeekers also loves making enemies that, in the light, look really damn goofy (see Legs from It Steals or the coil-head from LC) but become incredibly creepy due to the fact that the places you see them in are almost completely devoid of light aside from your flashlights. It's a great way to make a monster design that for all intents and purposes should be silly or funny and make it come off as an actual threat.
Well said! I feel like such clever tricks of hiding the monster or giving it special ways to stick with you mentally are severely underappreciated. What you said is correct, and it reminds me of how Amnesia: the Dark Descent hides it's monsters from you behind gameplay mechanics and excellent buildup of tension and release. Spookys House of Jumpscares also comes to mind. Every monster has its own build-up, and even unique ways of starting their chase after you and different intros (attacking you from the side, from top, from behind, even just doing their introduction standing in front of you and waiting for you to turn away)
@ARStudios2000 I agree, it's really good game design. If I had to make another comparison, then the mask from LC and the Jacks from The Upturned are also great at playing their jobs of "the mimic" archetype. The mask is good at catching people off guard since you can use it to accomplish your goal, but if you aren't careful it turns into a threat that can potentially ruin your entire run. Meanwhile, in The Upturned, throwing items is your one and only way of defending yourself from the monsters that try to kill you, so having an enemy that not only disguises as the objects you need to defend yourself but also (again) hide in the dark, makes for really good design. Both enemies are great since if you know what you're doing you can deal with them relatively easily, but they can still catch people off guard and cause panic, at least in me.
Lethal company practically can't get boring. The gameplay itself is solid and definitely hooks you in, but the progression as you finish quotas makes it so replayable. The second you get enough money to afford some new, cool piece of equipment or goofy item you feel great, only to fail the next quota and end up at square one, yearning to get back to that point and truly experience whatever you barely managed to fit in your budget last time.
What I like most about lethal company, is the creatures. They are so horrifying and so very creative, and they're so very well made, then you die, and like, your scared of a fucking mannequin with a damn coil neck, or a black guy covered in leaves, and look at that five head on that ghost, lookin like Wednesday. Like I never seen something switch from horrific to hilarious so fast, and like, seeing your friends panic seeing one of those things is the best thing ever.
The item delivery ice cream music is kind of genius, It takes a completely entirely normal melody... and puts one of the most wacky background parts under it to make it feel tense and unsettling. while at the same time being ICE CREAM!
I've become addicted to watching people play this game for the first time. You just can't beat the shear terror of not knowing what is around the corner about to kill you.
So today when I played it, we encountered a coil-head. For some reason I like those monsters because of the spring sound they make when they stop, so I walked up to it really close, looked it in the eyes and said "I like you". The next second it killed me, causing everone else to burst out laughing. Comedic timing indeed 😂.
24:01 give a monster voice recognition via neural networks, have it able to distinguish phrases and cries for help. Have it keep recordings and replay them. Imagine the terror of hearing your voice call for help
Outside of your helldivers 2 video (praise managed democracy) this video is such a good ad for this game. I wish I had gotten into this game before we finally liberated malevalon creek. I have to be on the front lines, and snuff out the automaton menace. Definitely earned a sub though.
I really hope they will add a Mimic monster that could Mimic nearby player's voice to lure player and once someone died to your crew the Mimic will replicate that player and follow other players waiting to drop their guard down to eat em alive.
With how well the gameplay is I feel zeekers either got a masters in game design or is just naturally gifted, or the experience given they made games before
my first experience on titan was so terrifying for me When i branched off too much the entrance i was told on the radio that there was a lot of loot by me and then next words a second after were "There's a jester" and i started panicking instantly. After everyone left the building i was panicking all over the place and eventually started hearing *it* and i started panicking more screaming into the radio for a flat minute to help. And then it was too late. I was trapped at the end of a long hallway and the jester activated and i heard its footsteps approaching, naturally as any other human, I started screaming and crying begging for mercy and having my prayers fall upon deaf ears. I saw it running towards me, faster and faster at the end of the hallway and the radio operator was just hearing me screaming and a red dot maul me on the map. 100/10 game i still have the clip and it is amazing
After playing this game for quite a bit I can easily say it is amazing. Your first hours are always better as you're more scared and get less scared as you learn to deal with creatures. But stuff will always get you still. The limitless potential of updates that can be done and with such a vast amount of mods already you can only imagine how much bigger it can get. The voice chat alone makes this game worth the money. This game is also just stupidly comedic for a horror game. Like i have laughed harder at this game than I have at anything other game in so long
Games dont have better or worse graphics, other than those who aim for realism (like most AAA games), otherwise, it is called an artstyle, and the part that we love about it is how it substantially makes the experience from different games unique and fresh
The art style looks fine and the AI of hostile entity's are some of the most interesting I've ever seen also when someone gets the girl and it being seen on the ship's outside camera is the most fun looking detail
I can already see a mimic being added. You weigh the Pros and Cons every time you pick something up. But it being an extremely rare creature so it inflicts terror with almost never showing ip
Not sure if you already knew this, but there’s already a mod for a Fire Escape Mimic & a mod that makes the Bracken mimic voices using clips of what you’ve said in the round. The fire escape mimic eats you when you try to use it to leave & says “Feed” as it’s “E” prompt. The Item Mimic idea you proposed sounds like a fun idea though.
24:00 YES!!! I would be so cool to have a monster that mimics your friends voices after they die or a monster that after they kill your friends, takes over looking like AKA the thing.
I remember first playing LC and thinking that it wouldn't be that scary and then I wandered out of earshot of my sibling and was suddenly, completely alone. It's easy to underestimate how valuable something as simple as communication is until you desperately need to tell someone something and you have no way of contacting them.
YESSSS i was STARVING both for kelski vids and also for more lethal company content (new favorite game, just don't have friends...) and this has a PERFECT timing with this beautiful high quality editing :D
And everyone has some kind of unique unofficial role in the team -The looter -the Explorer -the survivor /the fighter -the bait -the lost -the chairman And more
its the right amount of good game design, gameplay loop, cheap and silly that even if i only play it for 20ish hours with friends i feel like ive gotten my money's worth.
Yes, I also saw the parallels to the following three games there: -Deeprock Galactic: 4p Squad gathering resources for a company on a stranger moon/planet -Phasmophobia: the fact that you are in grave danger plus the proxy voice chat -SCP secret lab: those anomalous monsters, SCP-173 is basically already in the game and I would welcome a 939 voice mimic to also be there, or something that works like 096, don’t look at its face or you‘ll die
24:03 SCP Secret Lab did this, I'm not sure if it still does, but with 939 it'll record short segments of voice chat and whoever is playing that SCP can play it back to get people to open locked doors and lure them out. The problem was it would pick up on people screaming and no one would open that shit lol. It was still super fun tho imo
As someone who enjoys playing a lot of Phasmophobia, Lethal Company as another proximity-chat, horror-comedy, objective game was so fun. I think lethal company feels a lot better then phas, just because of the how much more map there is to cover, how many different monsters there are, and how little downtime there is between danger and comedy.
Wish this game was out on consoles and hopefully its soon, would definitely love running this with my friends without the expensive pc to help me do so.
Great video, the editing is amazing and your the smitty Russian badger and even the vanoss crew. You really are gonna be somebody childhood, including mine. I did have a question what microphone do you use it’s so good and bad at the same time it’s literally perfect.
What’s your headset if I don’t mind asking I’ve been needing to get one because my friends here my voice through my pc during lethal company sessions lol
One of the things I see people say when they refuse to play this game is that they don't like the proximity audio limiting how they can talk to their friends and I think that is also why other developers don't bother including it because some people will just use discord or Skype or whatever instead anyway
This... this is perfection, the game AND the video you made, Im telling you man, this one has something special in it, find the thing and I PROMISE you will get to 100B subs! Other than that, we need a gamenight out of this for the discord>:) Also, glad to see you keep on your end of the deal and gave us more dog photos, keep goin man! :D
What makes the proximity chat even better is the ghost girl muffles and fades away your friends voices almost like a ringing in your ear as the gongs and chimes of death start playing.
A note on the "Mod" part, there are two videos I love on this platform by _Daszombes_ going over his concepts for Lethal Company creatures, items, and locales. The idea Lethal Company will be an SCP-like game but far more accessible to those wiithout prior lore info is actually really exciting, I can't wait to see what the full version will have.
Imagine the developers somehow coded a mob that is basically a siphonophore (many organisms coming together to function as one). ...and they look like your ship and kill you if you try to start it.

The company sure seems trusworthy! Surely nothing will go wrong! Right? Right…?
nope, go ahead and sign on the dotted line sir 🌚
@@kel_ski Sir, the company didn't tell me there'd be slimes in here- *absorbed*

Sauce music: Fall for you [ secondhand Serenade]
The agony and joy I saw at seeing this is unparalleled. You’ve beaten me to posting a video again😫
sorry brotha 👀 i was in the zone haha
The item delivery ice cream music is kind of genius, It takes a completely entirely normal melody... and puts one of the most wacky background parts under it to make it feel tense and unsettling. while at the same time being ICE CREAM!
I love these moments in gaming history, when a little indie title just becomes a phenomenon, like Among Us or FNAF.
My favorite part was when they said “Dang this company is pretty lethal.” And then they lethaled the company all over the place
This meme didn't die?
@@randomhooman1952 Apparently not.
@@Bone_Incidents evidently not 😂 truly one of the memes of time

The fact that so many people are on board with the VC gimmick and not just using Discord to cheese warms my heart :)
I've become addicted to watching people play this game for the first time. You just can't beat the shear terror of not knowing what is around the corner about to kill you.
Didn’t expect this video to come out so quick. Nice job Mr. Kelski!
man i thought i took too long! thanks for waiting haha
First Battlebit Remastered, then Lethal Company. These indie games are really showing the power of implementing proxy chat.
Definitely earned a sub though.
that intro actually could be the real trailer of this game, its uncanny but funny and fully fits with the games aesthetics
I really hope they will add a Mimic monster that could Mimic nearby player's voice to lure player and once someone died to your crew the Mimic will replicate that player and follow other players waiting to drop their guard down to eat em alive.
there is a mod for it but it cant detect the player's voice so it only takes their voice and replays it randomly
With how well the gameplay is I feel zeekers either got a masters in game design or is just naturally gifted, or the experience given they made games before
21:40 I love that you actually put Ik's theme (the upturned) here
"no shop"
Terminal store: allow me to introduce myself.
I will never forget the first time I rang the company bell repeatedly. That was a learning experience
15:29 "Is it gonna kill me?" *BONK* 🤣
Ive never played a game where watching gameplay is just as fun as actually playing the game. I love this game so much.
my first experience on titan was so terrifying for me
When i branched off too much the entrance i was told on the radio that there was a lot of loot by me and then next words a second after were "There's a jester" and i started panicking instantly.
He maybe not pregnant, but he always delivers.
bro 💀
I can already see a mimic being added. You weigh the Pros and Cons every time you pick something up. But it being an extremely rare creature so it inflicts terror with almost never showing ip
Not sure if you already knew this, but there’s already a mod for a Fire Escape Mimic & a mod that makes the Bracken mimic voices using clips of what you’ve said in the round.
The fire escape mimic eats you when you try to use it to leave & says “Feed” as it’s “E” prompt. The Item Mimic idea you proposed sounds like a fun idea though.
@@insertcreativename802 ya "mod" im not talking about mods
23:55 this aged well
24:00 YES!!!
Honestly this deserves indie of the year. Or at least a nomination cuz it’s amaizng
YESSSS i was STARVING both for kelski vids and also for more lethal company content (new favorite game, just don't have friends...) and this has a PERFECT timing with this beautiful high quality editing :D
And everyone has some kind of unique unofficial role in the team
-The looter
-the Explorer
-the survivor /the fighter
-the bait
-the lost
-the chairman
And more
its the right amount of good game design, gameplay loop, cheap and silly that even if i only play it for 20ish hours with friends i feel like ive gotten my money's worth.
imagine lethal company while drunk/high, absolutely new dimension of fear and ✨silly✨
The fact that they added the mask that does almost exactly what kelski asked for
Yes, I also saw the parallels to the following three games there:
-Deeprock Galactic: 4p Squad gathering resources for a company on a stranger moon/planet
-Phasmophobia: the fact that you are in grave danger plus the proxy voice chat
-SCP secret lab: those anomalous monsters, SCP-173 is basically already in the game and I would welcome a 939 voice mimic to also be there, or something that works like 096, don’t look at its face or you‘ll die
A monster that records and replays your voice to lure others is absolutely one of the best ideas I’ve ever heard.
Not sure if you already knew this, but there is a mod that makes the Bracken mimic voices using clips of what you’ve said in the round.
That was single handily the funniest ad integration I've seen recently lmaaao
8:25
"HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP!"
kelski: *laughing*
"I don't know if it can see" No it can't, but it can definitely HEAR YOU
A VR version would go hard as hell. Also another W for indie games every where.
939 still does this
DON'T THINK I MISSED THE FEMBOY FIRE ARMS POSTER AT 14:46
It's alway good to see good indie game being successful, lord knows we need more of them in this market nowaday.
God, i really hope at some point this game gets VR support (and i don't even own VR).
I hope it comes to PlayStation because I only have PlayStation VR... Then again though it would probably be PS5 only and I have the 4 :/
18:46 this the most hilarious moment I've ever seen in everything
Love your editing at the start of the video.
thank you! i had tons of fun making it haha
I like how he casually left out the “Yippee” mod.
11:21 PLEASE MAKE IT STOP IM NOT SAFE ANYWHERE 😭
😭🙏
As someone who enjoys playing a lot of Phasmophobia, Lethal Company as another proximity-chat, horror-comedy, objective game was so fun.
I think lethal company feels a lot better then phas, just because of the how much more map there is to cover, how many different monsters there are, and how little downtime there is between danger and comedy.
This editing is actually really good. Nice Job
Finally over 100k subs, I guess Kelski will go for 200k then 500k next 😂
dude it's wild how far we've come already
Bro dropped fathomless tomb and thought we wouldn't notice
at 2:05 i thougth there was gonna be an among us reference 💀
Wish this game was out on consoles and hopefully its soon, would definitely love running this with my friends without the expensive pc to help me do so.
Great video, the editing is amazing and your the smitty Russian badger and even the vanoss crew. You really are gonna be somebody childhood, including mine. I did have a question what microphone do you use it’s so good and bad at the same time it’s literally perfect.
what immense praise, thank you so much 🙏 i use a blue snowball mic for the post commentary, and my headset mic for the live commentary haha
What’s your headset if I don’t mind asking I’ve been needing to get one because my friends here my voice through my pc during lethal company sessions lol
Sorry but I got another question do you have a discord server?
One of the things I see people say when they refuse to play this game is that they don't like the proximity audio limiting how they can talk to their friends and I think that is also why other developers don't bother including it because some people will just use discord or Skype or whatever instead anyway
22:50 Oh hey, that's me
Yes
The animations, especially the running, takes the comedy of the situation well over 11.
This... this is perfection, the game AND the video you made,
Im telling you man, this one has something special in it, find the thing and I PROMISE you will get to 100B subs!
Other than that, we need a gamenight out of this for the discord>:)
Also, glad to see you keep on your end of the deal and gave us more dog photos, keep goin man! :D
What makes the proximity chat even better is the ghost girl muffles and fades away your friends voices almost like a ringing in your ear as the gongs and chimes of death start playing.
9:18 "As they say at home world, karma is b####"
A note on the "Mod" part, there are two videos I love on this platform by _Daszombes_ going over his concepts for Lethal Company creatures, items, and locales. The idea Lethal Company will be an SCP-like game but far more accessible to those wiithout prior lore info is actually really exciting, I can't wait to see what the full version will have.
When kelski uploads, I prepare to giggle and chuckle.
Imagine the developers somehow coded a mob that is basically a siphonophore (many organisms coming together to function as one).
...and they look like your ship and kill you if you try to start it.
Sounds like a good idea but because the ship lands in the same spot every day on whatever planets so almost nobody would fall for it
18:28 pure bloody fucking murder
