I'm surprised that there isn't a requirement to use a color coded wall plate indicating the upstream GFCI location(s) in garage and basement applications so other household members know where to readily find it. Although there is a requirement to use the very small labels provided in each GFCI receptacle package to be placed on protected receptacles.
