You must show us where they make the Ost 🧀. Does your original house have a wood burner too? I notice some of the summer houses don’t have one which means they are not liveable all year or for an extortionate amount for central heating. Lovely tour, thank you.
Thanks glad you enjoyed the tour, the original cabin has a huge very old Spis even though it only had 3 rooms , but was the only heat source and even had an in built water boiler, will show in detail when we do the small cabin tour. Will try and include a visit to the Ost in a video soon 👍
Hey Phil it's pronounced like *Vesterbotton* you removed the accent 'ä'.....väst means west. Very cheap property. I hope the council and service fees don't outstrip your purchase price. Insulate, insulate,insulate then add some insulation around that. adio!
Cheers 🍻 the council tax is relatively cheap as you only pay 1/4 year and totals approx £150 per year, electricity is super cheap in summer but connection is around £30 per month and you have to be connected for 12 months . Yep we are going to super insulate and look at electricity options maybe Solar for summer with generator for short winter visits 👍
I think you are right, we know the building was relocated and rebuilt as the road and railway moved North. This became its final resting place, it really is amazing how resourceful people were back in the day 👍🇸🇪
Can't say I know, but £7k sounds about right, my guess was maximum SEK 100k (I didn't hear you mentioning the price). But it all depends on location and the shape, and it's hard to say just from the video. The main feature of the wood stove (kakelugn) is that the smoke is led up and down through channels inside the structure so that a lot of heat from the smoke is kept heating it up instead of just going out the chimney
Thanks for the info! The chimney really does seem to hold the heat, it’s a really impressive heat output from such a small burner area. We paid 70000 SEK plus some fees totaled about £6.3k at the time, we are about half way up Vasterbotten region, so quite remote, approx 10hr drive from Stockholm 👍🇸🇪❤️

I believe that the house is probably older than 80-90 years. I would think it's from the end of the 1800's.

we’re lucky we are on bus route etc but nearest shop is about 16km away and main schools are 40-50km, no traffic though 😃🇸🇪❤️
