You need a Patreon account! What you’re doing is quite unique and I’m sure lots of people would like to support you because they want to see you succeed and live vicariously through you.
Ditto, I have been commenting on this.
I would love to send little bits of money to you or even a store you patronize in town so you have monies to use‼️❤️
Come on Rosie, we love what you are doing!!!!!!
Do it!!
Yeees absolutely!
Patreon is an excellent idea. You are very inspiring and I admire your hard work ☺️
Agree whit a Patreon account,amazing idea!♥️🍀🙏🤗👍
The worst case scenerio in life is not chasing our dreams when we still have the energy and time to do so.
I wish more people made videos about actual frugal rural living, like this. Most of them make vids about rural living with a comfortable income.
Or an inflated influencer's income where every single product was sponsored and didn't cost them a dime.
The hidden treasure you possess, is your open minded thinking, your upbringing, and your faith in yourself. You go girl.
Some thoughts: first off, you have beautiful hair and your new haircut is adorable! I get what you are saying about higher taxes vs. how many services benefit us, but in the last few years, I’ve come to look at that differently. My taxes are paying for benefits that I don’t receive, but the idea that as a community, we can all have enough food, safe shelter, access to health care and the ability to get an education or training, benefits all of us, by hopefully, reducing crime, mental illness and all the problems that arise from chronic poverty. I realize that no country in the world is doing this perfectly, but many countries are trying harder to make it a goal to ensure their citizens have basic needs met. I never used to look at it this way, but I’ve come to see that I feel better, thinking that we, as developed societies, are trying to make life less desperate for those who have true needs. Keep up the good work. I enjoy your videos immensely. 🌿
The problem is that a system like this only works if everyone do their part, which they dont. And its very naive to think people will.
@@admiralfloofz658 The world is an imperfect place. But there are many people who are striving to make it a better place for all; we can’t give up bc of the selfishness or narrow mindedness of others.
@@admiralfloofz658
The absolute majority needs to be honest and do their part.
So yes, we are at turning point. Either we slowly get it more right again or we will soon have to use a more restricted system.
❤
I think one fact a lot of people forget is that anyone can end up unemployed, sick or homeless if enough bad things happen. I'd rather pay for others (which I can only do when I'm better off myself) than not being able to receive any help myself should I ever need it. It's funny how many people seem to forget that the government doesn't just magically have money to pay for roads, hospitals, schools etc., if you want great infrastructure you need to help pay for it.
Thank you so much for your honesty. RUclips happened to suggest your video during this exact moment of me in tears in my off grid cabin my husband and I built by hand. It’s been a year, a cold Maine winter, and we’ve spent the past two days tearing apart the house battling carpenter ants (found the nest, all is well). So many people showing life in the woods on RUclips only show the romantic parts. So, thank you. I don’t feel so much like a failure. Not so alone out here anymore.
You are not a failure on the contrary. There are many people out there who wished they could do the same but can't at the moment. You have a husband who loves you and supports you, you have good health I hope, if not so good, at least you are able to do what you want to do. Count your blessings. You are a conquerer. : )
I found that peppermint essential oil gets rid of ants. I put a little on small pieces of paper towels, and keep them behind my kitchen appliances. They used to find a way in behind molding on a kitchen window. They don’t come in anymore.
@@allisontison40 It also helps keep mice out.
As an ex video editor, your work is exceedingly good. I understand the amount of work you put in to creat these videos. Really nice shot set ups and very accomplished editing. I am just going through your back catalogue, you are a very inspiring person.
I found your site quite by accident, and I am so happy to follow you. You are living the life I always dreamed of but didn’t have the opportunity to do. I will eventually go back to the beginning of your videos, but I am too excited to see how you manage to afford this lifestyle. So now I will get to watch you live my dream.
I am 76 years old, married to my best friend from first grade. I am a book maker, quilter, and an amateur painter. I was a registered nurse and had the opportunity to live, work and travel to several different countries. Now in my retirement years I am living vicariously through other people.
Please stay safe and healthy.m
So nice to see someone trying to live a simplistic life without all the problems of the our World we live in ... always look forward to watching your vidoes ! ... best wishes from West Australia
With everything that’s going on in the world right now, it’s so lovely and inspiring to see your beautiful, honest, peaceful vlogs, thank you Rosie x
Wholesome 🌻
This really shows how important it is to reward people who make free entertainment for us with a like and a subscribe it's the least we can do
You should be very proud of yourself! You're an amazing woman who has stepped out of the "normal" (whatever that is!) and done something for yourself that most folks would be too afraid to do. You are a strong, intelligent woman. Be proud of what you've done! And ask the community that watches your travels for answers when you need them.
As someone said to me at a time I wasn't sure I wanted to go on, "Hang in there!"
Hi Rosie, we like watching your videos. They are very real and normal, nothing fake or dramatic, which is very nice 😊 Sometimes we think about Sweden, a little cabin in the woods with no people in the surroundings sounds great to us. We now live in the countryside of the Czech republic on a former farmstead, quite a frugal life like you. But there are still neighbors... We like to be alone, we definitely prefer to be in nature than around people. Thank you for talking about all the things, like groceries, taxes and so on - it's not easy being a freelancer in Sweden.
Very true. Lovely videos, very real indeed
I want the same.
Thank so much! Glad you are enjoying these videos :) Hope you also find the perfect spot for you
Thank you, I find it so refreshing to find someone that is truly doing this solo without having wealth or a “village”of people to help them. ❤
In the first place I (a single woman in Switzerland in a similar situation of life like you) also planned to buy and renovate an inexpensive Swedish house in the woods (and do lots of Nordic-Ice-Skating in the Winter :) but now I fell in love with the idea of building a cool tiny-house on a ponton-float in Sweden- with no experience - by myself. :)
Courage is the first step, right? All following steps for a project will come by themself and you can process them one by the other. :)
Just do some research on how the pontoon floats will survive the Winter and the water freezing (and the weight of the snow on the house). The water by our Summer cottage freezes every Winter (in Finland) and we have to drag the dock on land before Winter every year. There are some pontoons that can withstand the ice, but most people have to take their docks out of the water before Winter. The ice is very powerful and it can break many things, and even move big rocks under the water.
Courage is the first step. I love that.
All inland lakes freezes in the winter, so you might be better off with a tiny house on wheels. And, you need to have an agreement with the landowner, if they will let you moor your houseboat on their land.
@@Lupupu Thank you for that tipp. Little details make the difference between sinking and swimming. ;) I considered this point and will search for good, frost save models of pontoons.
@@ibislife thank you for your thoughts and comment. I will search for good, frost save models of pontoons - and will enjoy all the frozen lakes, to hop on my ice skates after coffee on my little terrace in the morning. And come back in the evening to hop in my micro Sauna/bastu. :) On wheels there are restrictions in weight and size: 3x5m (+1.5m terrace on two sides) are so much more spacey than the 2.55x6m you are allowed on build a regular trailer. I opt for a spot at a (not too fancy and pricy) Marina outside Stockholm where my tiny house boat could stay during the whole year long. Or easily swim-drive somewhere else. ;)
You are a true inspiration Rosie. The cabin is coming along very nicely and well done so far.
She’s very level-headed, skilful, brave and resourceful. Anything is possible
A peaceful existence is everything. I live in a log cabin in the USA in the mountains beside a stream. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
I'm enjoying your videos so much, Rosie. I, too, have lived on nearly nothing for most of my adult life. I prefer to cut my own hair and make so many things myself - cooking, sewing, building. I live in the U.S. and we have a lot of thrift stores where I do a lot of my shopping and I find very good quality items for very good prices. I'm so thankful to have found you. I feel much more "normal" after watching how you live. It's totally worth it.
I love watching your progress and I'm very moved by how you've basically taken a leap into the unknown to follow your dream. I live in a flat myself and I'm finding it difficult to motivate myself into putting up new wallpaper even though I dislike the current ones so everything you do impresses the hell out of me. :)
Hi! I live in sweden and love seeing your videos. If you would like to save some money on food, at least in summer grow your own vegetables and berries! Much you can save for wintertime. You have a big garden so start with a couple of gardenbeds, or maby you already have some? you can also save seeds from your own garden for next year to come wich will save money. You can also grow cucumber and tomatoes in your window during wintertime...
I was surprised a food garden wasn't her very first priority, even chickens for eggs.
Other vloggers I've followed who have moved to Sweden found they were not able to stay there year-round because of immigration laws. I wonder if the same thing will happen to her.
building that is pretty expensive tho and the cost wouldn't come back with savings on food for quite a while. i think that's something that can be done once the major things are finished on the house
I would suggest looking into growing beans; white, red, and black beans. You can grow them in summer, dry then store them for winter. They are a great source of clean, plant protein for a healthy diet. 🍃
@@hsoderberg6505considering she’s from the Netherlands originally, the EU passport should take care of that :)
Thank you for putting a fine point on the real costs of living in Sweden. You are certainly very brave and strong.
I think there is a way to stay genuine & have people contribute through patreon, or something similar. Your content is authentic & unique & beautifully filmed. So watcheable
People are always amazed that I don't have a car, especially now that I moved to a small town from a city, But to watch you living without a car in the country is pretty impressive. I too use a bike all year round and I'm of retirement age. It keeps me healthy and happy to ride a bike and saved me more money than I thought when I gave it up.
Loots of mosquitoes and deer flies during the summer time. But dont let that scare you.. You will need a bug jacket. A lot of Swedish people that live werry far out in the country side, often try to support themselves with hunting and fishing. Fruit trees and gooseberry, redcurrant and blackcurrant. Rubarbs and potatos. Sometimes they dig a pond, to have traut and crayfish too.
Remember too keep at lot of long lasting foods like pasta and rice and canned food. Food prices in small town shops, are also much higher than if you go to a big city and shop. Prices in Denmark are higher than in Sweden. And remember that if you go out on your bike on what they call a high way or a bigger road, where there is no space for a bike. Be werry carefull because the truckdrivers dont give a f.... There are a lot of people that get killed on these roads on bikes or motorbikes. Thats also one of the reasons why you can drive a car at a werry early age in sweden. Sweden also have a lot of Second hand stores with a lot of cheap nice things.
I found this really interesting
"We all have two arms and two legs. We can all do anything!!" So true. Thanks for saying it and living it.
Good job with your haircut it looks pretty even on the sides With regards to your heating if you get your fire looked at, if it's ok collect the wood from the forest that has just been cut down, cut it to size and store it for next winter.
Yes, wood burner is a must but I think she was referring to electricity/light
Hi Rosie, excellent videos. It could be worth checking with your electricity provider if it's possible to downgrade your supply. I live in Jämtland and work as an electrician and I'm often doing it for people. The avgift that you pay for your supply here is very expensive and downgrading can save you thousands a year. It's a very simple thing to do aswell, it just means changing your main fuses for smaller ones. The way you live, I should think you could easily be on a small supply.
Hi - thanks for the tip! Electricity confuses me haha. Does that mean going down in voltage?? I only have 6 and 10A in my fuse box right now...
No the voltage stays the same, it basically means the size of your main fuses. The main fuses will be located wherever your electricity meter is. From what you've said though, it does sound like you may already have a smaller supply. Probably easiest to phone your electricity supplier and see what size you are paying for and if it's possible to downgrade it.
@@wildrosie more on savings from a fellow small business woman; look up all ways to save on taxes and how to incorporate all your renovation costs on your business etc. There's also a huge market for second-hand everything; clothes, kitchenware, building materials, furniture etc. Many times you can get nice old doors, windows etc for free. Best of luck!
It's really very impressive what you have achieved through all these months of renovation, Rosie. I came to Sweden around the same time, but was renting and a month ago I left as I couldn't afford it anymore (living off my savings). Taxes are big in Sweden, that's true, and living similar lifestyle I do get that we may not really want to pay for something we'll most likely never use. That's one of the ways in which for us, single women, life can be hard sometimes. When I was watching you at the beginning I thought to myself: "Maybe I could do that a decade earlier, but not now". These days however, having a deeper realization that my home is where my heart is, I started seriously considering a bus to make a conversion and instead of looking for a house in all the different countires, I can always take my home with me. Living in Nature, in a tiny house ar a yurt has been on my mind for some years now, but never dared to consider doing it myself. Let's see how far I will go with this idea! Nice haircut. I used to cut my hair as well 😃
I love how the subtitles hear the water boiling as applause. It’s quite poetic 😊
Rosie, I just LOVE your videos and wish that they did not have to end! It was fascinating hearing about your financial responsibilities, and I am going to pray that your RUclips channel grows rapidly, so you won't have to worry about your bills anymore. After watching half your video this morning, I was so inspired by your spirit for life, that I decided to get out there and build a dry stone wall in my garden that I've been procrastinating over for a year. I worked all day lifting and placing heavy slate slabs without any help and managed to finish the entire project by the evening! All thanks to you!
Quite a challenge but yes, you can do it :) I have quit my 6 digits job in November, bought a farm, starting a homestead and I have no experience! Learning from RUclips, things that fits with my style and goals. The beauty of that is being able to make revenues from home as freelancer. I sell digitals on Etsy for junk journals (a bit like scrapbooking) and I count on that to get some revenues. When we have no depts, it is totally viable as lifestyle. The worst that can happen is to have to find a local job for few hours per week. I work tons of hours every day but it doesn’t feel like working like when I used to work in the IT industry. My brain doesn’t see it like a work ... my happiness and freedom feeling has never been that high! I don’t regret the move and I guess you feel the same for now. The first 2-3 years will definitively be the worst as we need to build or repair lots of things (buying equipment for the animals in my case) so, it is hard on the budget and energy but then, what a quality of life there will be! I am already happy with this lifestyle so ... it will just be better and better! :)
Some years ago (before Brexit), in Europe there was a big trend, started off by British expats but followed up by many people from other countries and nationalities. They set up a l.t.d. company in the U.K. and thus paid (maybe very little or no?) taxes in England.( Estonia had a very good deal for businesses.) Lots of people started providing their services for to set you up. It was a very simple and quick process. I guess that's your option.
Don't get me wrong, I love the svenska system because it supports lots of roads, schools, healthservices, allowances, communityservices, etc. I also believe it is essential for all, you included. E.g. : If you brake your leg or worse , hospitals will give you good care, an ambulance will come fetch you. Trains ride on time, etc.
Just wait for your taxreturn and see if in your case a simple ltd (online registration) would be better . So you can continue to spend your money in swedish shops & support the society of your new homeland that way.
Wow, that is very good information.
Sounds good.
You are very kind for sharing that with her I’m sure it will be a great help
@@joycekepic8947 Honestly, dunno if that still works. But above all as an éternel expat I do believe one needs some impro as well as some sound research. In order to keep your business and household afloat, one cannot just move abroad. But Rosie, used to travelling and being an expat, puzzles us with these incometaxes. But Sweden is quite a safe & clean country and that is worth a lot.
I think you are suppose to pay taxes in the country you live in.
I think getting a Patreon account would be quite beneficial for you. We supporting you in your lifestyle and getting inspiration on one hand and you getting financial aid on the other is a great deal for both sides :)
Very eye opening Rosie. Your fortitude is so inspiring. Being frugal is a learned habit and not for the faint of heart. Our family has never had much money for at least 3 generations. We learned how our grandparents survived and follow in their footsteps, changing our circumstances to fit our times. We've always had the basic necessities and been content, not caring to keep up with the "Jones". And we ALL have worked hard! No being on the dole! Your outlook is so refreshing, thanks for sharing!
Thank you. A valuable lesson learned here. No matter where we go, we can't get away from the freaking money problem. But at the same time, we don't need any exit plan because we won't take anything with us after this body dies.
When I brought my house in Sweden I furnished it by buying second hand furniture and tools from local lopis and second hand shops.
Love watching your videos. Keep posting!
I love what you're doing. Please don't stop sharing.
Am I the only one addicted to this channel?!?! Thank You for taking the time to create and share this video with us. Love this simple and healthy lifestyle in nature!
I just subscribed today. I’m addicted. She is a practical dreamer making her dreams come true. Independent thinking but she is a practical young lady, as she is explaining her detailed expenses. Yes, a financial boost is what she needs.
Love this video. So honest and down to earth ❤️ keep them coming! All the best.
this resonates with my heart so much! thank you for sharing!
Thank you for making these videos for us, I really enjoy watching and it is so nice to see someone else also trying to live a simple life outside the standard. That’s my goal in life too.
I’m very happy your going to keep making videos, they are so inspiring and I love following your journey! ☺️
Happiness mostly doesn’t include wealth or brand products. The simpler=better. Improvised shelves often surprise with longevity and style and that’s a life-fact-hack. Totally celebrating what you’ve done so far. A friend once mentioned something that became an important mindset to me : sophisticated simplicity !
Less is more 🤗👍🏼
Sophisticated simplicity - I love that!
Hi. I am impressed with how well you are doing in the circumstances around you. I will show your films to my daughters (10 and 7 years old) as inspiration and proof that you can manage and live your dreams, even if sometimes it is difficult ... I wish you a lot of good and I look forward to the next films :)
I look forward to your videos every Sunday!!!
I appreciate your honesty, Rosie. I have been binge watching your videos. Love them!
major congrats to you for taking a leap of faith and just following your heart even though you hadn't yet worked out all the financial details. What you did takes courage and commitment. Here's to your continued success with the remodel, with your finances, and of course with this youtube channel!
Thank you for sharing! It is inspiring to watch your videos and see the challenges you overcome and the projects you tackle. You have inspired me to make some shelves like that for my bathroom!
Thank you for sharing your story. It is useful information for others contemplating a move to another country😊
Another lovely and informative video. Thanks Rosie x
Hi Rosie, you may know this already, I make my own oat milk, cahew milk. Oatmilk recipe
1cup of Organic Oats
4 cups of filtered water
1 pinch of organic hymalay salt /sea salt
Method
Sterilise all item's, glass bottles /jars /jugs /utensils before use.
Put 1cup of organic oats in a jug
Add 4 cup's of filtered water
1 pinch of sea salt
Blend together for 1 min no stopping.
Sieve into a jug and sieve again into jug, don't leave the oats in the water, sieve pretty quickly, because it gets all gooey.
I use the pulp with more porridge oats to make porridge and there is no waste at all.
Cashew milk
1 cup of cashews
3 cups of filtered water
And the same method. I hope this is helpful.
I love your materials and looking forward to see what you create. I love that room and your cosy chair too 👍😉🇮🇪🍀
Thanks! I've been thinking about doing this myself... not sure I have the right blender though.... :/
It’s so beautiful and pure what you’re doing!! Keep it up you’re doing a great job and very inspiring!!

Hi Rosie, its great to see the progress you make on the cottage in every video and thank you for being so open and sharing the struggles too. There is not much of that on this platform but I think being open like this encourages people to communicate, share tips and learn. I am an expat too, trying to work freelance in a foreign country and its tough! But work and perseverance will pay off. I wish you all the best! I hope you keep making these videos, i am sure your channel will grow! 🌷
Enjoy your adventure. You are a warrior.
Thanks for sharing your journey, very inspiring
Fantastic, Rosie, thanks for sharing your story. Your fortitude in the face of so many obstacles is impressive, and I absolutely adore the new haircut, it frames your face so beautifully. It’s nice to see quiet, sincere people succeeding on the platform like this. Also, that chair looks amazing, so glad you allowed yourself that little luxury… 🥰

Thank you for sharing your story. I love the shelving with the straps of leather. What a fantastic idea! Watching from South Island, NZ... aka Middle Earth
Another great video! I think you’ve got a future in this video-making game 😀. So, yes, thank you, as ever, a lovely way to spend half hour. To give you some idea of what you are creating, I look forward to your video dropping just as much as the latest Netflix episode of whatever I’m watching. It is art. You’re making art. So there. Look forward to the next video very much indeed.
Hi Rosie, I like watching your videos they are so inspiring. I love the challenge that you are taking on for yourself. I believe it will build much more character in yourself. You are a very brave person. Concerning food, I think you can cut your grocery bill in half during the summer months by growing a garden and also investing in some fruit trees and berry bushes. Also, you can learn to can some of the produce you grow and store them up for winter so you will not have to shop for certain things and therefore save a bit of money in the winter too. I am looking forward to seeing more of your projects. Keep the videos coming.
I love your videos. I hope that you will prosper and have much happiness in your cabin life.
you have a genuine soul, i appreciate it! and i admire you cutting down on frivolous spending to succeed :)
Hi Rosie great video, wow how brave you were to make the move and using most of your saving to purchase the house. The shelves you made look great, and the material you purchased for making dresses really lovely. I see you’ve added a new skill this week, might be able to get a job as a hairdresser. Tony UK x
Just discovered your channel, I am living in Stockholm and just started looking into doing exactly what you have done.
I can honestly say your videos are the most inspiring and calming.
I love that you included the prices and have a level of transparency in your videos that help me get a better picture of the road ahead of myself!
How do you plan to get things from day Byggmax etc with no car? Maybe you covered it in another video?
Keep up the great work :)
You go go I will keep watching. Praying for you
This is so valuable that you share your knowledge and experience ❤thank you 🙏🙏🙏
I love your take on life...the way you tackle problems and the fact you admit things aren’t always easy. ❤️
Thank you lovely lady for sharing all of this with us! I find your journey quite interesting. I have been following you for a while but I usually don't comment. I really applaud everything you are doing to try to stay on the path of an untraditional lifestyle. I know from experience how difficult it is when we don't fit into the cookie cutter role society has deemed for us. I came into young adulthood in the early seventies and was one of the original flower children who lived off the land as best I could in a very simple way. It was difficult and I had two children so that made it almost impossible to get ahead ever! It seems that no matter where you live it's almost impossible the way it's been set up to step out of the system with any kind of comfort unless you are born into wealth. I wish you all the best in your life and will continue to follow you and watch your journey as long as you post.
