So happy to see you cruising on the rivers of Tokyo! I was able to do this the last time I was in Tokyo, Sept/Oct 2019 starting from the Nihonbashi Bridge. I'd seen a doc from NHK about enjoying the city waterways with unique views and I wanted to do this. The weather was hot and sticky, so it was a perfect way to enjoy a part of the morning with being on the cool water with the refreshing breezes. I went on the Riverboat Mizuha (an older wooden boat) with a husband piloting and his wife doing the tour/answering questions. It was delightful! If you have the time I really recommend seeing Tokyo from this unique perspective.

AND on top of that, for the man who is renowned for checking out secret alleyways in various Japanese cities, this is the most epic exploration of alleyways you've ever done. like holy cow man, this is phenomenal. your vision and artistic eye have always been great, but you have quite pleasantly destroyed all expectations I have ever had of your videography and perspective. I love the waterways of Tokyo so much, I remember just staring at them whenever I crossed a bridge as I often do even in Finland on the few we got here. I spent a good chunk of my time at Hamarikyu sitting at the benches that were seen on this video just looking at the waters and at the bridges staring at those old boats parked along the canals. Ive been scouting more places to go look at and that train crossing spot is at the top of my list. And as a off topic note seeing sakura bloom always makes me very excited to see videos about them again, and makes the waiting for our own local trees more bearable. 😊

Just wanted to say, I always enjoy watching your stuff because out of all the Japan content creators out there, you really seem to be the one who has really wholly embraced and fully integrated into Japanese society. No shade for anyone else, I like to watch videos about food and cute stuff too but the types of things you focus on are so different and it really feels like you're "on the inside" instead of a foreign point of view. Your effort in getting your license for this makes you an even more indispensable asset going forward. Other channels are gonna wanna- or should want to - be on your boat. Incredible video, can't wait to see more from you out on the water!

A few years ago, I watched an amazing video at the Mori Art Museum, shot from a small row boat, and set in very narrow Tokyo canals. It was in B&W, with no commentary, just a minimalist atmospheric music track. The canals were criss-crossed by footbridges and highways, and you could just see the legs of pedestrians walking past. It was quite mesmerizing. Looking forward to Part Two!

I was born and raised in Tokyo but you gave me a whole new sight of my home city, from the water! I've been, a huge number of times, to those spots you showed at Odaiba, Asakusa, Akihabara, etc. but only viewed them from the ground. Thank you for making me rediscover the metropolis. And yes, show us more!

This is so cool. You never think about just renting a boat and freely driving it around Tokyo. It’s such a unique perspective to see Tokyo from that many never get to see. It would be so fun to just rent a boat and go out with your friends or family and sit out in the bay or something and hangout with snacks and drinks. Now I feel like I need to get a boat license when I live in Japan lol

This was so interesting and educational! I love learning things like why things the way they are and the tokyo water ways makes so much sense. I've been to Odaiba before and knew it was mostly man-made but not about the name and the surrounding daiba! - this makes the experience even more awestruck and special.

When I went to Japan I stayed in Asakusa and needed to get to Odaiba, and the easiest way to do that was via this crazy space age looking ferry thing. I remember those weird cannon islands! Awesome that you shed some light on them, thank you@
