We usually have field kitchens. and we eat what they cook. + the state gives us fresh products (meat, vegetables, fruits, fish, cereals, etc.) from which we cook whatever we want.
MRE used only in very difficult cases when it is impossible to bring fresh food or when you are deep behind enemy lines.
also due to limited resources, including money. we even have to save on food. approximately 2,250,000 MRE are used per year. if you add a pack of Skittles to each of them. then for this amount one could buy 3,750 FPV Drones.
Thank you very much for your review. As a Ukrainian, I want to thank you very much. Your videos lift our spirits and make us understand that the world has not forgotten about us.

Are you a soldier currently involved in the fighting? If so, pls tell me more about the food that way perhaps I can recreate the eating experience in the field (to a degree)
Do you guys get other countries MREs?
What type of foods are eaten in the field kitchens? Is the food heated on frying pans over butane stoves like I’ve seen in some footage?

@@Bravebelly Hi! I am one of the soldiers of the Ukrainian army. I am currently undergoing treatment and rehabilitation. On the front lines, thanks to our volunteers and the state, there are no problems with food. In my team, the cook often prepares borscht, fried potatoes with onions and cracklings (cracklings - is basically good fried pig lard pieces), pasta with various canned additives (tooshonka - stewed beef or pork in a jar), sometimes rice with vegetables and also with various canned goods, several times we had cabbage rolls (holoobthsi). Many cereals: buckwheat, barley, bulgur, millet, pearl barley, corn (All this can be with the addition of tooshonka and vegetables). Good amount of soups, buckwheat with meatballs, vegetable, in the summer there is an opportunity to cook green borscht (with nettles) etc. And this is all without taking into account festive dishes) This is just a small part of the dishes that our chef made. I don't even remember all the others, or I don't know their names😂 But that's all when we're not at the front. And in the trenches it is usually MRE or very simple dishes made from canned food from cans. Regarding the MRE's of other countries, there are a lot of them. Personally, I tasted: Polish, British, American (1, 4, 15, 17), Latvian, once I even had French (Exchanged it from my brother in arms for Japanese MRE), German, South Korean, and once was a trophy russian. As for butane stoves, almost everyone in my team have them) 6:07 we do actually have flameless heating element for food, but they are in MRE`s that given for long operations (or covert). Sorry for mistakes, I'm not used to write so much on the phone😅
P.S. The inscription that was crossed out with a marker basically means "Property of the AFU (Armed forces of Ukraine), NOT FOR SALE" As in most majority of combat MRE in the world))

Great review. When Ukrainians were reforming their army post first invasion in 2014, they literally surveyed the troops asking them what do they want the MREs to contain, and most said that they wanted the food that grandmothers used to make it and a year later this was deployed, it was supposed to be first home cooked meal type MRE, with nothing but real nutrients. Some thought it wasn't going to work, that MRE food is supposed to be full of preservatives and processed plastic stuff, and that soldiers generally want your corner store type snacks, like chips, to boost morale, but years later - Ukrainian MRE proved to be among the best, if not the best.
I was able to get ahold of one last year - it was the complete opposite of the domestic MREs we have, in a good way

This symbol is the Coat of Arms of Prince Rurikovich. You will probably be surprised, but this is a Falcon in free fall (as a symbol of real freedom) and also the word "ВОЛЯ" is written there.
In our language we have the word "ВОЛЯ", which has two meanings at the same time: is freedom and will.
The letter "B" is the left part of the symbol (left wing), the letter "Я" is the right (right wing). The letter "Л" is the upper (tail) letter O (body)
    "ВОЛЯ" is freedom and will
We probably have the most interesting and underrated coat of arms symbol of the state.

We have MRE with and without heating packs.
In most cases those people who are in training camps they might receive MRE's without heating pack, those who are in trenches often doesn't have opportunity to light a campfire so they have MRE with heating pack.
P.S.: Thanks for the review of our UA MRE. No offence my comment is more informational to give you info that we also have heating packs in MREs. Like I told above the heaters are required mostly for the guys who are in frontline.

    Hi 👋
    Thanks for a great video!
These kinds of rations are much easier to cook. Instead of using a frying pan, use a small deep pot. You can take any water-whether it's dirty or from a river, it doesn’t matter-since you won’t be drinking it. Place the package with main dish right in the water and put it over the fire. As the water boils, the contents of the package heat slowly and evenly. You don't need to worry about it burning or stir the food; it requires zero attention from you. Once you hear the boiling sound, turn off the fire and pour out the water. Do with caution, because package would be hot. Use squeezing motions with your fingers to mix the contents without opening the package, as if you were moving food from one end to the other. Then, use a knife to open the package along the wide side and eat directly from it - no need for a plate. Afterward, you can simply throw away the package.
    1) The pot stays perfectly clean because it only had water in it, so there’s no cleanup.
    2) No need for a plate.
    3) The water can be reused if you’re running low on water.
Try it in the next video, you will be surprised how easy and clean this is. Its a huge advantage of this MRI against another 👍

How did you like the Hungarian military food? As a Hungarian, I haven’t seen such a package before, but the portion seems quite small. Though, perhaps the quantity is calculated based on nutritional needs. You might want to try military food from eastern countries too, like Qatar, Saudi Arabia, or India, etc. Of course, the taste of military rations doesn’t even come close to a well-cooked goulash, for example. The hardtacks are neutrally flavored since they have 0 additives. You figured it out that they just supplement the main course or coffee/tea.
You dip them into the food/drink before eating or cover with honey/jam.
The same with rye and wheat rusks (sukhary)- should be soaked in food/water.
Usage of hardtacks and sukhary is crucial for the climate and shelf life.
Ie during the Weeknter war Finns had hardtacks that can and should be soaked in water while Soviet army had the rye bread (not rusks), frozen into almost stones.

More like Lunchables for grownups. Also, They probably make more than most countries. We also have more field kitchens and this is meant to just get by and feel light. Real food is when u get back to base..which we have more bases than anyone. That’s just my theory. We’re the richest military..has to be a thought out reason. IMO
