- Better Call Saul table read for season 2 episode 1.This video is taken from the blu-ray extras of season 2.
BCS is one of my favorite TV shows and I just love how well-acted it is. And seeing the actual behind the scene footage and the real process of making the show is so interesting and inspiring. That, I think that every fan of the show must see them.

Bob doesn't sound like he's reading off paper. He sounds like he's from the episode.
He's amazing.
Same Rhea, she's so skilled
Yeah? Why do they even do this? Why dont they just go film the show
Like what Aaron Paul said on Breaking Bad before, Bob is very Professional when it comes to acting. He is always on a corner mastering his scene.
Bob is awesome! I am a salesman and I try to mimic him when I'm selling. I feel like I'm real life saul goodman : )
*When you can't afford Netflix lol*
You can find them online pretty easy. I watched the whole 5th season online for free and the episodes got uploaded 30-60 minutes after the original episode aired. You can find most movies/series online
@Altaf Kalam not on netflix.
You can use a vpn and watch it on Netflix
When you can't afford to write an original joke

It's interesting when you just hear the script read, because you realize how much Mike and Nacho are more visual roles versus verbal roles. They convey much of their character through presence, facial expression and internalizing, which makes the viewer kind of feel what they're feeling, without words. Them reading the script makes their role seem simplistic, but once filming it, you can see they must really convey and evolve those few words into something way beyond that. Pretty awesome.
All things important, and missing in the context of the modern chat box diasmog.
@@supervidere7 I don't understand
Yeah and add the Lalo character, what you say is spot on. The casting is really perfect
Do you mean "digamos"? In spanish that means "let's say" but even then you're still not making much sense.
Diasmog isn't a word as far I can see looking it up.
Or is it a mispell of "dialogue"?
Good point. This show had the capacity for many of those actors.
Mike enjoying himself in almost every minute of this is a sight to see.
He's so fucking handsome......
@@migos4296 He is hell a lot experienced. He doesn't need so much bullshit that we dumb kids need these days
:)
Do you mean Michael Mando or Mike Erhmantraut?
@@migos4296 LOL WHAT?
The fact Michael Mando was silently laughing for like 5 minutes after Pryce said "hey" is so wholesome
Michael Mando is so awesome. He loves what he’s doing. He’s cracking up. But when it’s his time, he’s all business.
Yeah i dont know how he does it, so professional, i wouldve laugh many times
I love the fact that Rhea is the only one who memorized all her lines and plays her role, she barely reads her script.
Just makes her that much hotter.
It's also just a question of how people approach the script. If you watch the Breaking Bad table read for Blood Money, Aaron Paul is super emotionally invested in his scenes and delivers every bit as truthful as he does on screen, whereas Dean Norris is very restrained, compared to the actual scene they shot in where he is A-MA-ZING. Some people handle the table read as if they were in the actual scene and some people purposefully avoid it so they can hit the raw emotional spot on the day.
@@mysticsaxophone4181 I've noticed that exact thing too. I gues some actors approach table reads differently. Aaron was straight up crying at the table read and Dean was very reserved.
There are actors famously capable of glancing at a script and knowing it, and others need to grind for hours to get it in their skulls. Performing when it's time is where it all matters most.
@@ehcmier No, Justice Matters Most.
11:49 i love how Nacho’s smiling and giggling the whole time Pryce is reading and then immediately gets into character when it’s his time to read 😳
The Pryce character is hilarious. That actor--just his voice alone is so funny, let alone what he is saying. When he's on screen, I'm laughing.
The actor also played a character named Nate in the last few seasons of the office ,every scene with him is just really good.

Wow. Even Rhea Seehorn's table read deserves an Emmy.
53 nominations later....
Rhea is an acting goddess. She's not even looking at her lines; she already has them memorized and is working on how she's going to play it.
@SkyH23 barely, and not as much as the others. She clearly has memorized 99% of her lines beforehand and is practicing more on the actual playout of it all.

I hope they're not gonna fuck up the character in season 6. I found the final of season 6 a bit half-assed. Don't believe she can turn into a villain.
She's one of the best female characters in recent times and Rhea plays the role to a T!
i just hope she doesnt die in season 6
for real she's amazing
michael mando’s face every time pryce speaks cracks me up lol
Makes you realize just how difficult it would be to create a great, long-form show like this.
It makes me realize how good the scripts are.
I'm listening to the behind-the-scenes podcast right now and the amount of love and care that goes into every single detail of the show is just incredible. There's not a line that wasn't sweated over by writers, not an acting choice that wasn't carefully considered by the actors, not a cut that wasn't agonized over by directors and editors... The sets, the costumes, the music, every second of this show was done intentionally and with love.
It's a great podcast if you like to know the behind-the-scenes of shows.
Michael Mando is a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful man.
Oh yes !!

True !!
They couldn't get a Mexican American to play a Mexican American. 🙄
He's a Mex Canadian
Pryce needs a spin-off.
Well, there is the prequel known as "K-Strass" (search on RUclips for these)
Pryce is probably dead lol

And this speaks volumes for the series!
Nacho looks so sweet with the smiles at the table as if his dad is around.
Watch him closely during the actual show. He often smiles sweetly and unexpectedly.
I think Pryce is Michael Mando's fav character
He must have remembered that guy trolling people as a yo-yo expert
I could literally watch every episode like this. I love it.

And then doesn't even follow through
Rhea Seehorn is killing her performance even at the table read. It’s interesting to see her still treat this as the performance.
Often on television shows the actors get so little time to rehearse. I'm sure Rhea was looking at this table read as a kind of dress rehearsal, so she has already studied her lines inside and out. Remember too, Bob Odenkirk is not a traditional actor, but an improv, sketch comic, so he gets into his roles a little differently.
I'd love to watch the table-read for "Squat Cobbler".
The entire table would be blue in the face trying to hold in laughter during the episode's last scene.
I was thinking the same thing.

Bear in mind he's not in breaking bad so if he does appear he may just die
The funniest part was with Pryce. Hard to believe that guy was only in 4 episodes cause I remember him a lot better than many other characters.
i love how Rhea is barely even looking at her lines and her interactions with Jimmy feels so natural like it’s straight from the episode.
Jimmy/Saul/Gene... "My echo, my shadow, and me"
this is super cool, but to be precise, I think it's
Saul = my echo (his famous name that he's known for and that still echoes)
Gene = my shadow (obviously his hidden persona, not him)
Jimmy = me
it's so clever actually, how did they think of that
@@jsatcok I love this interpretation! This is how I see it:
Jimmy = my echo (his true voice and identity, which are becoming softer and further away)
Saul = my shadow (his alter ego that is now haunting him and causing him all his trouble)
Gene = me (who he is right now)
@@danielzboy also valid :D
@@danielzboy Another way to see it would be
Gene = My echo. It's what's left of him but distorted, faded and clearly not the same.
Jimmy = My shadow. The part of him he was never proud of. His morals. The good kid that is nowhere to be found in Breaking Bad. Besides, when he was Jimmy he was living in the shadow of his brother. And after Chuck's death Jimmy lives in the shadow of his superior Alter Ego, Saul Goodman
Saul = Me. His true self. The person he wants to be and feels most comfortable as. After all, he carved SG on the wall, not JMM
Rhea kept making me think she was breaking character because she was playing the character so well. Weird
Exactly. I believed that she was being real, especially near the start where shes acting all confused as to why jimmy is taking her aside
One of the big reason watching this show is Rhea Seehorn. She's so amazing actress.
Wow. I watch it cause the show is good
I love Kim as a character. It is an example of how to include strong and complex female characters that feel natural rather than adding one in there and forcing their development just so the studio can feel good about themselves.
True she felt natural and strong. I really liked that.
Absolutely love the character. They did it right. So many movies/shows feel they have to tear down male characters to make the female character look good. No so here, Bob and Kim are great in their own ways.
Indeed. One of the best female characters ever.
what? she was the worst in breaking bad. she ruined the whole series
This comment!!
It’s so funny seeing Nacho smiling and laughing
Imagine an audiobook of tv series you can listen while running or other things, they can even doing it while practicing with no cost at all
I would love that ! Yes, let's bring back talk radio. And, no, i'm not being sarcastic at all.
Early Doctor who episodes actually have audio recordings of their original broadcasts( with linking in narration to describe movement) available. Sadly, for some stories like Marco Polo and the Dalek’s Masterplan, it’s all that remains of the episodes due to the BBC procedurally wiping film reels back then.
Its insight on how they turn books into movies
the back and forth between Bob and Rhea looks so real as if two coworkers are arguing in the middle of a meeting
I can’t believe she’s 48 years young...
I know right? I was shocked, I thought 10 years younger easy
There’s no fucking way
She seems a 30-35 years old. Really amazing.
she's 44 years old during this season 2 table read
Based on your comment, I had to look up Bob Odenkirk's age... 57! Wow!
They could not have picked a better actor for Jimmy than Bob Odenkirk. Amazing!
I mean, they couldn’t have picked another actor anyway- Bob was Saul 😂
So great to see Nacho smiling while Price is talking to the police. It's a hilarious scene anyway, but this just made it so much better :D
14:54 "Everything OK, Mr. (Cumsten) Cumstain?" Holy shit that is hilarious.
With Jimmy’s history of having clever pun names that’s very intentional lmao, love that consistency in the writing
Wow...Kims' professionalism even at the table read is astounding !
There’s so much to love in this table reading, but Vince Gilligan reading for Ken is just incredible lmao
This is the first time i see this video and... man. I'm amazed with the incredible chemistry between Bob and Rhea. You can see the chapter in their interaction. So wonderful.
Patrick, Bob, and Rhea shared a house during filming of the show...they are very good friends and would always work on their roles even when not working.
What's interesting is how close to his final reading Johnathan Banks always is. He's reading the lines for the first time but his instincts for how Mike should talk is so correct, he pretty much has it right away. In contrast, the way Jimmy ends up doing those lines is way different than how Odenkirk initially says them.
I don’t think anyone’s reading their lines for the first time, but I get what you mean.
Man Rea gives me goosebumps just reading her lines.
I love how Bob and Rhea are looking at each other and acting together.
I wish there's a table read footage of the episode where Nacho tells Pryce "This car looks like a school bus for 6 year old pimps!"! I would love to see how much Nacho will laugh!!
This makes me wonder how many times scenes between Pryce and Nacho had to be re-shot cause it looks like Mando has a hard time keeping a straight face everytime Pryce opens his mouth lol

This was incredible.
Bob Odenkirk is masterful and the chemistry between him and Rhea is incredibly gravitational. It blows my mind that TV could be this good.
Im ready to marry Rhea, I love her face. I love her voice. lol
God they're all incredible actors. Michael Mando is soooo adorable laughing through all the funny moments, too.
When Mando is holding back his laughs at stollen baseball cards its pryceless.
Michael Mando really outing himself as a french canadian reading that wine menu lmao
I so often thought they were talking to each other off-script, then realizing they were in character O___O
Rhea Seahorn is so real when she acts.
Hamlin not wearing a suit feels wrong
Heh...See why they do these. They trimmed down the edges of the Ken Wins section. No Cain from Kung Fu correction. A lot of Ken's bluetooth dialogue happens offscreen while Jimmy and Kim were talking. And they play the dialogue faster in the actual episode. More bouncing off each other. Less pausing.
Plus is good to see what the directorial choices do to add to the dialogue. Like in the episode while Jimmy is doing his work on Ken, you get a lot of asides to Kim's expressions as she slowly gets mesmerized by Jimmy just spinning this web of lies. That really helps to keeps the dialogue from feeling as long as it does here. Also after Jimmy asks Kim is she's okay just talking to Ken, and both of them look at her...they cut off her to the Jimmy sliding into the booth. Without the connecting dialogue of her saying yes. They yes is more implied by the outcome than by dialogue. So they first time you really see Kim warming up to the situation is when she throws out her fake name.
Just a bunch of little touches. They all do great work.
yea also when jimmy says "wait till you see what i floss with" Kim reacts with disgust but in the actual episode she laughs
Cucumber water for customer only!!!
This makes me want to see the Table Read of the episode where Kim rages, unjustly, at Howard in his office. That scene, even if she was absolutely wrong in doing so, was so powerful that it made me cheer her on as if Howard was in the wrong. That performance by Rhea has stuck with me ever since that episode. I really, really, really admire her as an actress! None of Rhea's acting felt wrong, even though Kim was absolutely wrong flaring up at Howard the way she did right after Chuck's suicide.
Should be called The Kim Wexler show - she is amazing.
Knowing how the final scenes and story played out in the final print, watching Mark Proksch and Michael Mando reading their scenes and sitting next to each other is really great.
Jonathan Banks is so cool, and Mike Mando just looks so genuinely happy to be there.
I feel like everyone in the room are collectively feeling how special this show is.
Hearing the table read really makes you realize how slow the show goes and how vital the dialogue and amazing cinematography prevents you from realizing how slow its going. Now I'm going to binge the whole show.
Michael cant stop laughing at Wormald its hilarious
2:20 a guy like Mike smiling at just Jimmy saying hello :D
8:26 The most iconic line in the whole show
Im surprised to see that the whole cast sits through a reading of an entire episode because I thought it wouldn't be time effective but I can see it helps with building a sense of each character within the whole show even if they don't share screen time together. Its also interesting how some of the actors do the lines in character and others just read it out without any expression.
It’s actually extremely cost effective. It costs them basically nothing to practice and have a table read so that they can fix imperfections, and change aspects of scenes that might not be quite right after hearing it out loud. But it costs them tens of thousands per day to hire film crew, transportation to filming sites, build props. So it’s much more cost effective to simply do a table read and then only need a couple of takes per shot on the day of filming:)
Jimmy's personal odyssey with Chuck & HHM are exquisitely written and realized. On my 3rd run through of the series (in lockdown down South American way) I realized that what raises my pulse the most is the plot involving Mike, Gustavo, Natcho, Hector Salamanca, & company.
Me too

I would love for audio drama to make a comeback. Voice acting is such an art...Radio dramas of the 40s/50s were amazing.
I don't listen to them myself, so I have no clue if they're any good, but if you can get access to it then the BBC have dramas quite a lot on BBC Radio 4. You don't have to listen to them live since I think all their stuff gets put on the BBC Sounds app - so I hope you're able to get access to it.
