It's like dude invited you but didn't really want you there. I grew up in tacoma dude was stuck up and dont realize thousands of us would love to fish with you. Unfortunate you picked one who dont know how to appreciate you brotha.
Loved seeing you in the areas I spend time in. Reading the comments, great to see so many folks in Washington that watch your channel. Thanks for showing off our state to your viewers!
Hi Matts, Iv'e seen most of your videos and they are awesome. I was a little disappointed in this one. Not because of you, but the guys you went to meet up with. If you came to see me I would've been jacked/excited and you would have known it. Both the guys you went to visit were so nonchalant about your visit and didn't show a lot of enthusiasm. I mean you drove all that way and you slept in your car? You should have been a guest in his home and if he had no room for you he should have treated you to a hotel. I'm sorry , I don't want to sound petty but that is how you should have been treated I believe. Too bad you passed right by me in Seaside Oregon. I would have shown you around and even have had a spare room for you. Love your videos, see ya soon sometime when you are out and about. I miss SF and love going back. Great videos
It's called the "Seattle Freeze", but it's pretty prominent in all of the coastal Pacific Northwest. People just aren't interested in being friendly or making new friends. It's weird...
@Bullpent, you literally took the words right out of my mouth! My boyfriend and I were watching this and couldn't believe how unfriendly the dude was and thar Matt slept in his car outside this guy's house. I'm really glad you said something and I love that you would have offered your place 😊
@Bullpent Fully agreed. It's almost like he treated Matt like he was a predator and I can feel from Matt's expressions and small verbal hints at his massive disappointment.
Your friend is really introverted uh. Didnt really feel the warmth of meeting a friend, its almost like u were a hassle. Didn't even host u in his house and let u sleep in the car. That must really suck after travelling so far to meet "a friend".
Crescent City is my home town. I don't live there anymore cuz I joined the air force. But I come home every year to fish for salmon/steelhead. It's very cool that a youtuber that I have watched for several years pass through there. thank you fishermans life for passing through my home! come back someday for steelhead!! Thanks you again!!
My guy is listening to Krayzie Bone!!!! I had to rewind it like 3 times just to make sure i knew what i heard lol. That's awesome man. I love Krayzie. I just became an even bigger fan of your channel my guy. Bone thugs are the greatest in my opinion
Yo I'm stoked you came to my home state of Washington and sorry to disappoint but this state has so much to offer. Explore a little more there's world class fisheries everywhere along with the most beautiful views. Come back give it a shot both east and west at the right time of year and you may not want to leave. Also I've been following for about ten years and never commented. Tight lines my dude!
I lived on Whidbey for a few years as my last duty station before retiring from the Navy. Hope you got to experience some of the local food and scenery. Pass lake just north of deception pass is fantastic for fly fishing trout. Your video made me nostalgic…. In Roseville, CA now.
So awesome to see you went to Whidbey Island. I grew up digging steamer clams, horse clams and crabbing in the bay on the west side of the southern tip of the island. My grandparents had a second home on the Island that has since been sold so I don't get to go to the same spot anymore. It was a private access beach so only people in their neighborhood are allowed to access it.
I’m from Whidbey Island! It was cool to see you made the trek up here! Come back next year when the pinks are running they come in the millions and it’s a blast to catch them from the shore. I’ve got a couple spots I go that are private and secluded to avoid the crowds. 😁 I’ll take you and whoever out for the day. We live on an old farm with an outdoor kitchen, cob pizza oven and a camping area (soon to be a hip camp) Anyways the pinks are nice and chrome cause they’re still in the salt and whidbey is one of the first places they hit coming out of the ocean down the straight. Glad you were able to get on a couple coho and some crab. A little slim in October. Bite was crazy hot first two weeks of September this year. Also I’ve never done that Jetty and now after seeing this I think I’ll make a run down there in the spring! Thanks for the vid as always and safe happy travels to ya!
A float fish trip on the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon would be rich! I live here in Washington. Love Whidbey Island, Puget Sound, and the south coast.....Ilwaco, Westport, Long Beach and Ocean Shores. Our playground!
The idea of this is pretty cool.. kinda seems like a fish with a fan type of video. Would be awesome to be able to fish with you, and I agree with most of the comments on here, the dude definitely didn’t seem excited at all and hard to believe you slept in the car but that may have been your personal choice. Anyway great video!!
love your video as always, I learn a lot about fishing from your video, and following your adventure. You should come by in vancouver Canada and try salmon fishing in B.C. river.
Go Wildcats. Deception Pass has a crazy salmon run, also at Keystone and Port Townsend. Skagit River too. All in a 45 mile radius. Best memories of friends and fishing. Thanks for taking me back!
As someone that lives in OR and watches your channel it was crazy to see you stop in Canyonville hit Elpariso and roll by 7 feathers. Wish I would have known. There are some amazing food spots around here. Would have loved to drop some tips.
I really enjoy your videos. And you were in some amazing country Plan another trip in late August early September and take your boat. Take the ferry out of Anacortes and go to Lopez Island. There are a couple of places to camp (I recommend Spencer Spit State Park) and you can rent a slip for the boat at Lopez Island Marina if you wish. You'll get plenty of crab. You'll have a great time and see some incredible scenery.
In Hawaii we have a fish called Moi. During the Hawaiian Kingdom Dynasty this fish was reserved for only the Chiefs so you know it's a good one. You can catch them right off rocky shores so it's right up your alley. It's a bit of a vacation but you could do promotional things like supporting local business by buying your gear from small shops and donating it to fans when you leave, those type of videos usually have titles that go more viral. If you want an adventure for a special fish there's one example.
Dang if i would of invited you to fish and crab here in washington in the sound, you would of been treated like family and shown you a couple better spots in 8-2. But it is what it is. Hope this dont deter you from coming back. Cheers brotha!
I wish I would have known you were coming to Whidbey Island I live right on the other side of deception pass bridge crazy that you came to Whidbey Island I watch all your videos every single one of them for tomorrow crazy this is where I live
Dang bro, would of been cool to see you up here, I live in stanwood man. This is Austin from fisherman’s gold, I was at your street fair last year. I could have shown you so many good spots, hope you’re doing good! 🤘🏻
To add onto another part of that fun fact. All the interstates between 200-300 are connecters between those big highways. If you're ever up in Vancouver, there is a nice beach where you can walk out in waders and then forage Dungeys. Just bring a big net. Same limit as Washington.
Yo bro I randomly clicked on this video. I live I'm crescent city. Crabbing season is coming up in a few months. Hope you had a good time in our town 🤙🏼
I started watching because of your crescent city video years ago. I used to live there for 2 yrs. Now we're back at crescent city. Yes, sky is always gloomy everyday there.🤷♂️😂
Indian oral tradition dating to an event in the early 1700's says that an estimated 140 foot high tsunami passed through this San Juan de Fuca area when the great subduction earthquake fault violently shook not far offshore. This oral tradition was later verified by geologic soil samples where a thick layer of ocean sand was found far inland in core samples. It is also recorded in the written record of Japan because the waves traveled that far. Evidence of old cedar trees knocked down can still be found today. The coastal Indian villages were essentially erased with a huge loss of life. The San Andreas Fault gets all the attention, but in many ways this Washington/Oregon subduction zone is even more dangerous because coastal areas have about five minutes to find much higher ground. I'm not a fear monger or one to stir paranoia. I just have an interest in geology. Knowledgeable geologists say this same fault is way overdue for another big one. But back to fishing. I simply love your channel. I like how you escaped San Francisco. I taught high school in SF. I experienced that city before it was taken over by the homeless.
It's like dude invited you but didn't really want you there. I grew up in tacoma dude was stuck up and dont realize thousands of us would love to fish with you. Unfortunate you picked one who dont know how to appreciate you brotha.

“I hate it hereeee” after saying ‘pretty popping town’ is hilarious 😂😂
Definitely well timed😂😂😂

Place does seem pretty miserable

I got the same impression.
@Bullpent Fully agreed. It's almost like he treated Matt like he was a predator and I can feel from Matt's expressions and small verbal hints at his massive disappointment.
Love the first state fishing plug. Dude deserves more love.
Your friend is really introverted uh. Didnt really feel the warmth of meeting a friend, its almost like u were a hassle. Didn't even host u in his house and let u sleep in the car. That must really suck after travelling so far to meet "a friend".

It's so trippy seeing you on Whidbey. I've been going to that area since I was a little kid! Glad you had a good time.
Not all trips go as planned, but is always good to see what the world has to offer. Hope you have better visits in the future!
My guy is listening to Krayzie Bone!!!! I had to rewind it like 3 times just to make sure i knew what i heard lol. That's awesome man. I love Krayzie. I just became an even bigger fan of your channel my guy. Bone thugs are the greatest in my opinion
Don't know much bout them .... But "Smokin' Budda" is one of my all time fav tracks.... Hi from Lithuania (north/east europe)
Matts in his first vids used to have some tracks. I’m sure he had to switch it up for copyright purposes when he started getting 5 digit followers.
Damn you drive all that way and homeboy couldn't even put you up in one of his rooms.
That’s what I was thinking too
Honestly if you haven’t car camped in Washington you’re missing out. I’m sure our buy insisted on camping out lol
@@bigbrain779 Same here...

Too cool! I grew up on Whidbey (Oak Harbor), fishing for silvers (Coho) and crabbing.
omfg, blew my mind with the fact about odd and even numbered highways. that's so cool
really enjoy these exploration vids Matt, happy travels to the next location 🎣
matts you should link up with deer meat for dinner and do a florida series! epic vid man thankyou for sharing stay safe!
Rob is a legend but I don't think they could be any more different as people. I think they would be odd together
Wack, I unsubscribed from all RUclips channels that do disingenuous charitable acts for views. Deer meat was one of them.
@@TheElectrcChickn what did he do?
im from cali an that drive through seattle was awesome it gave me flashbacks from when i lived there a few years ago.
No butter, no avocado? You’re slacking! 😂
I grew up on Whidbey. We slayed the coho . The crabbing is going good this winter. It's nice to see it on film.

Home of the A-6's when I was in.

Always good to see you bud. Another adventure!!!
Thanks for the update on the california fishing license. Really great to know they finally changed it.

Crazy. I went on my honeymoon in Westport, WA all the way from Alabama. I love Washington and Oregon.

Nothing more california than rolling to WA state in October without pants or a rain shell.
Need a fish grilling basket. Those things are super useful outdoors.

Westport is great. When I'm not catching on the Bayside, I switch to the surf side for some red tailed perch.

Fantastic video!
Awesome video!
That dude was a plug!
Hey Matt... Come to South Africa... Fishing is very different here... Challenging but lots of fun... You'd love it here... Maybe someday...
its a Grass Greenling, a grass rockfish and a greenling made love to create this beauty
I started watching because of your crescent city video years ago. I used to live there for 2 yrs. Now we're back at crescent city. Yes, sky is always gloomy everyday there.🤷♂️😂
Good eating!!! 🎣🎣🎣🎣
Awesome trip!!
21:52 - Sneaky a$$ cormorant ate his bait and Matts didn't even realize..😂
I love the crabbing vids
That sounds like one of my favorite challenges. 23:00

I didn’t know people from India had oral tradition here
Good crabbing in Westport!
Nice Matts, wish I could head up there!
You should do a collab video with Reed the Fishmonger in South Florida. I think the two of you would hit it off great.
Enjoying life great to see
Hey Matts. Go to the Grand Canyon! That would be interesting...
After the end of the jetty there is a sunken jetty that goes out even further than the jetty is long. Fish out of Westport every year for salmon.
I deckhand for tuna out of Westport and am a Whidbey based fishing guide. This is crazy to me 😂
Great video! But i feel like it didnt need to be supercut as much as it was haha. we like the journey , not just the action
