Happy childhood memories for me ---I lived in Eastdean Drive---went to Seacroft Grange---Lifeboys at Seacroft methodist church---played in the woods---dads and lads playing cricket on a Sunday in the back field ----in and out of neighbours houses ----whip and tops ---hopscotch ---hide and seek ---tigs offa ground---I draw a snake right down your back ----two tigs carries all out ----blacks shops for half a gallon of esso blue paraffin---nobody had a car--the 50's and 60's were brilliant---nobody ad nowt but we were happy being skint----we had each other

Seacroft is my roots, my home and i am proud to call it that. I'll always be a Crofter and not ashamed to say where I am from,
The only thing I would Change is that BIG oversized Tesco and bring back the old Seacroft Centre God I miss it 😔

Totally agree Chris. I spent most of my childhood and teens in the centre. My mum worked in there, so i was always about the centre. Great place to hang about. Used to play on the arcades in Patels and the Cafe. It was free in the Cafe cos my mum worked there. Used to love when they put the gala on in the centre as well.
Seacroft lost something when they got rid of it. Great memories for me.

Erik-LehnsherrX yeah I agree mate I use to go to our lady’s primary on pigeon coat road i spent a lot of my childhood in Seacroft centre with my Sister & Mum there were so many variety of shops, cafes, a market, doctors, opticians, Thurston’s bakery & even a pet shop not to mention 2 pubs and a fantastic chippy too 😃,
Put simply it had everything you could ever want on your own doorstep and I miss it loads.
Tesco ruined it in my eyes as the council originally planned to build a “new” Seacroft Centre that would have all the top stores that’s found in the city centre plus even a cinema It would of beaten Crossgates hands down until Tesco came along with their wads of dosh and consequently turned it into the state it is today just a big Tesco with a few shops who actually pay rent to Tesco as they own the entire plot of land 😒
As I say I’m Seacroft born & bred I’ve lived here my whole life in different parts & streets. I now own a lovely house here so I’ll probably be for the rest of my life and wouldn’t change it either 😃

3:37 looking at where our old house use to sit, Parkway Vale, brilliant memories growing up here, all great neighbours, community spirited and very fond memories as a child during the summer months, especially when my parents used to throw summer night BQ's and all the neighbours came round and sat in the garden, began changing in the early 80's and not really for the better, eventually moved to Scotland and to this day I can't decide whether I'd have been happier here or there - but great clips and would love to get back down here sometime to look over the old town :)

Great photography of Seacroft! I've been doing this too lately, it's amazing how many places here aren't evidenced especially on Google Maps.

it depends on which part of seacroft you live and who you know lol all it takes is one or two bad families in one street & it can make peoples lives a misery! too many knuckle heads on British council estates today.

Yep, got beaten to a pulp from a gang from Seacroft for no reason who followed me thought that underpass in the 90's, they left me to die in the road A64. Someone came out of a house and put me in an ambulance, otherwise I wouldn't be here.
