- We went into the forest to make games in nature. Can two full time game developers make a game with nothing but sticks and stones? I teamed up with Noa Calice from Blackthornprod to tackle one of the most interesting game dev challenges we've attempted so far.

Nature is a pretty underrated game engine.
Yes its way too powerfull and the visual scripting makes it easy for beginners
Yes
The development might be really hard, but once you master it, you get games with immersive gameplay and graphics
Unfortunately, bugs always exists though
It's awesome because you don't need a graphic card to use it
Yeah it really improved after the 'winter' update.
Winter update sucked but the latest summer update patch is really good
Better lighting, better performance, they even reworked the particle system!
There's something so wholesome about just making games outside. Love it!
There's something so wholesome about just two friends making games outside. Love you Goodgis!
Love your pixel art style
I think the boat game could be made much more interesting with a simple tweak: The boats must carry a (small) stone each, first one to make the opponents stone sink wins (or all stones, if allowing several boats).
Alternate title: "Two gamedev bros chilling and having the best time in nature"
An extremely fun challenge 🔥! Try it everyone!
gamer
you guys are an best example for the word CREATIVE!
Hey every one play this type of game in my area
this is way more creative than a lot of game dev content coming out
The graphics on these nature games are amazing
Someone told them "go outside, touch some grass" and they did. Witches bridges has a special vibe.
I was writing big comment, but the thing is...this video series is the most original gamedev content I've ever seen!
I feel like if game devs had to survive in a natural setting they would play around with rocks and tree branches instead of looking for food lol
Great vid btw
yeah like "ok look at this insane fps map I took all morning to make!" "You were supposed to make a signal fire!"
Question:
What are those green spikes from the ground?, looks soft and itchy at the same time.
Obstacles, avoid at all costs
I just checked the wiki and apparently they're called "blades of grass", sounds too dangerous to touch.
@@tacticalgrape2658 well I tried touching it and I didn't take damage, but I had the gloves buff.
It’s actually a power up, eat it for a buff!
Those concept are insanely cool, I really like that you look out of the box(and out of your houses by the way) and make some super interesting videos and games!
That's a create idea to come up with creative ideas :D
I'll definitely check out the playlist. And for the short time you spent on making the games, the graphics were amazing! And zero input lag.
I found an overpowered glitch in game 1!
While you're collecting rocks, if you hold your rocks in your off hand and spam crouch next to a tree, you can noclip into the tree and get sticky sap on your rocks, making it an easy win!
Yo this is awesome! We got into the BlueSky Institute Program by the way! We can now make a video game with our friends especially with our besties from high school next week on Thursday which is September 8th! This’s going to be a fun field trip for us!
In making games I’ve noticed probably the most important skill is creativity. To come up with new ideas. You guys have it in spades❤. You always find new amazing ways to stimulate your own creativity. Inspiring.
I really enjoyed your video, you and Noah are a volcano of ideas. It is nice to see how creativity with the simplicity of the things of nature manages to find ways to entertain and have fun. Basically you have (re) discovered what years ago our parents and grandparents used to do: playing with what they had using imagination and a few objects that the "outside" provided them.
Hi Jonas, I am Noa’s ma and absolutely loved watching this video of you both enjoying nature and inventing games outdoors! I could well picture Noa as a little boy and inventing games with his brother, so refreshing, he had a fabulous time with you and you make a great team for game creation ! 👍👍

This is so creative! :D
Happy you think so. Thanks.

@@JonasTyroller you're welcome! :D
@@user-sv5kt8qz3v why did you reply instead? Lol

The next logical step after this is making games without making games
Brilliant. I gotta try that.
@@JonasTyroller same
This is so fun, nostalgic, and funny! It really did remind me of back in the day just making up random games with my friends haha
what I get from this exercise is that being in front of a computer might not be the best way to find inspiration, rather go outside, interact with the world, spend some quality time with friends, and if you have a friend that likes to join your stupid ideas and brainstorm and work on them despite feeling a bit stupid, then do it! The often you do it, the easier it would get over and over! And don't forget to change the environment, cause you may run out of ideas and it's good to keep refreshing them!
10 years later someone will stumble upon that last structure and think a cult built it for their rituals
Interesting collab with blackpornprod!
This was super. I'm pretty sure it was very healthy and great fun. I would do more of these game-dev-outside-your-house challenges if I were you. And you can of course bring some basic stuff from the garage such as wire, clothing pins, colourful plastic/fabric, elastic bands, basic tools. Before you know it your videos will be a source of inspiration for parents and kids too. Besides it is great to watch.
You have just pulled a massive gap to all other game dev channels. Very creative, interesting, deep, philosophical even. Amazing
now we know how to entertain ourselves when the apocalypse comes
This series has been great so far. Can't wait for the next episode!
This series is such a great idea! I'll be waiting for the next episode
this is very retro game dev 🤣
Back to the roots. (Haha. Roots.)
@@JonasTyroller HAHAHAHAHA. roots.
Great music selection in this video. Also I really love this mini series
A new video! Glad to see it. :) Wowie Jam was a blast, the last one was my first!
Greatest colab of gamedev history
lies
Noa is a fun person to work with. Even if it's not "the greatest" ever, we're more than satisfied if you just enjoy the vid. :)
@@JonasTyroller so true jonas

Love this video!
Und ich glaube Jonas wäre auch gerne bei 7 vs. Wild dabei. haha
Banger
I feel like this is really just one big ass "Go tf outside" message and I'm only about 20 seconds into the video
If someone stumbles across the last game set up they will think that a demon was summoned there....
This "Nature" game engine has lots of...... BUGS HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Oh no flip flops on a forest trail 😩
I think you forgot to put this video in the playlist 😁. loving the series btw
12:25 The bridge wasn't added to the visualization in the bottom left corner. Great video btw!
Great job on this challenge Jonas and BlackThorn. I definitely gotta give this a shot sometime when I'm out and about. :)
Nice. Cool different kind of idea!
Love the creativity.
The fact nobody finished watching this before commenting makes me sad.
And then he realised he too, commented before finishing the video
who asked
@@user-sv5kt8qz3v I did
the video has a calm chilling vibe
i love it
this is much better than a game jam
This is proof that you can still make a game with use of sticks and stones outside in nature
Hab schon paar Videos von dir angeschaut und gefällt mir! Abo ist da😊
Damn, the lighting of the games is soo good!
That's just raw game design, that's great.
Next time: they play will you snail with an actual snail
I like this new title and thumbnail much more than the original. 😀
How minecraft was made
lol
this is such a wholesome video
Yo this was sick!
They are actually good
10:17 A person who didn't know you are building a game will think you are going to summon satan XD XD 😂
In grammar books, they often tell us to write stories and essays relating to real life.
Almost all 'original' game ideas exist because the developers simulated real life.
Minecraft, Pokemon, ...you name it!
PS
The lesser the density of towers in game 2/4, the faster the round finishes.
...am I correct?
(The size of the 'board'/field doesn't matter either, probably.)
The superior game development.
love it🥰...what will kids think after wondering and finding your games 🤔
Good games! Very enjoyable, quite a nice UI, but the textures could be better
Not very realistic, right?
@@Dashmaster305 yeah, thats the word i was looking for
Are there any bees there? Here in my country I can't step outside without seeing a wasp.
Pictured: game developer goes outside (rare footage)
So beautiful forest view
nice idea!
who said "developer" had anything to do with coding? Nature has great graphics, though! Incredible
this is sick
8:26 this rectangle is not a square, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I wanna play with you guys! :'((((( :D Nice one as always!
I know it defeats the purpose of the video, but game 4 would be really cool if it was turned into a video game.
Pov: you're 6 years old and bored with your best friend
The graphics in this game are insane.
think i, apreciate a little lot the general education in germany, it seems shapes good healthy neural trees and some good persons,
much cool your vibe Jonas, and "will you snail" have you face, gives will to buy your game just for your person, but the game looks Very nice too \m/. .. ai voices Awesome hehe.
your videos skills seems so good as or until better than your games rsrs.
trying make a little game here also, and I did not want but presumably i will need youtube about too, and...who knows.. will be nice talk and show about your making off steps, imagine I a little lot work but....
Well,

Mad lad goes on a hike in flip flops :P

what platforms can you build to with the game engine "nature"?
Amazing.
now make this a game on steam its really good idea
Game development: touching grass edition. I need to give this a try for the sake of my sanity.
From will you snail to will you stick 2:20
when mom tells you to go play outside
Where are you? In Germany or France or where? 😳 Good video🤙
Programmers: infinite loop
Everyone else: It's just a loop...
Very realistic 3D textures and lighting. Is this RTX on?
Game developers out in the wild!
Outside of their natural habitat.
@@JonasTyroller lol
where i can download them and play them ?
I am confused. This is only game 3 (part 3 of this series) right? 😄
How do we know Stonehenge isn't a big ancient game board?
Finally something interesting done in the nature
Btw. Ich bin Geschwindigkeit
Clickchtgeschwindigkeit! :D
@@JonasTyroller cool
I like idea of the 2nd game
where did you find that saw in nature?
2 game devevelopers experiance a power outage simulator
So you tried to make games with the "bear" minimum? Dangerous game you're playing. Ok, I'll grab my coat now.
damn I want to go outside now
Does Jonas know that MatPat played WYS?
I guess this is how cavemens made indiegames back then
I wanna play witches bridges now
ok cool vid but where is the download
