Btw, for anyone wondering, the tREF/I (REFresh Interval) is basically the time window (shown in clock cycles) within which the memory can do work (reads/writes). The higher it is, the more work that the memory can do, but also the higher the risk of losing data/stability.
Just wanted to drop in and say thanks. I tried another guide, and they didn't explain how the memory timings were being modified. The numbers provided were not a multiple of my card's, and although it would hash at a high rate and efficiency, it was ultimately unstable. This achieved, for me, a lower rate, but more consistent, similar efficiency as well as being highly stable. Thanks again.

@@ZuperPhresh yea that's what I was thinking, I'd make x2 my money and then later be able to buy a waay better gpu but I also don't want to wait an extreme amount of time for a gpu to come in stock at a reasonable price. However I do have an extra gpu but it's a radeon hd 7870

I was like, I bought it for 500, I mine for 3 months i get back the 500, thats good, but what then, i mine for 3 months more 1000 (current avg market price). Okey but what about EIP 1559 and card supplies. I think in 9 months card supplies will be sorted somehow so 1500. If someone buys it for that price I'm okey with that

Hi. Thank you for this. For those of us that are using our gaming pc's with 5700 XT GPUs on Win10, is there a benchmarking tool to help identify the best settings? For example, using Afterburner profiles to switch between normal use vs mining use. I'm also under the impression that the newest Phoenix Miner is preferable to TeamRed, is that correct?

Getting lots of invalid shares with the modified timings (×2 or x3) with sapphire 5700xt on hiveos. Everything works great with the rest of the bios mods and settings, just getting 54.2 mh/s without the timing mods instead of 55 mh/with the timings mods. At 83 watts that's still great. Thanks for the in depth walkthrough.

Big thank you for clearing things up. It confirmed my choices on using HiveOS/Linux instead of Win10. I can indded push the limits a bit further on Linux and got much better stability.

nice video , kind of odd i wasn't able to flash back my default bios , all am seeing is the generic 0FL01 error , not that im complaining buf if things went south , i would be nice to be able to go back , thoughts ?
So when I ran mine in B Config mode, it dropped my hashrate down to like, 47.5 .... so I swithched back A mode, and i get the correct amount (52 non bios modded). I dont understand what the modes are for, or why it doesnt work for me.

Awesome video. I've got a weird 3rd memory type for my 5700xt (H56C8H24AIR) that only has a 1500mhz instead of the 1550mhz. I'm assuming I just follow the same steps for the memory as the others? Terrified of bricking my card.

I got the Sapphire Nitro+ and also mining at 49. However I went to AMD control panel and did ONLY TWO changes: GO TO>performance>tuning. I put the MAX allowed fan speed to 100% and lowered the MAX power consumption to -50 then applied. It dropped the power consumption with about 100W and the MH/s did not drop at all...
Currently with an R5 3600, 16 RAM, 6 fans on PC box, 1 HDD + 1 NVME and the 5700XT, it is hashing at ~49 and the whole PC is consuming 230-250 wats on average from the wall. 5700XT is pulling about 109W alone.
No other modifications at all so the PC could be used for other things too. However I noticed that while mining it is hard to watch NETFLIX and other high resolution content. However, RUclips works flawlessly and the screen resolution is at 4K.
*using TEAMREDMINER on WIN 10.
What if we have mixed 5600 and 5700 on hive os, just to add in miner note --eth_config=B ?

Hey there, great tutorial. You mention Linux a lot in the video, so I was eager to try it out, but it's very hard to get this card to mine in Linux and to tune it (looks like there's a bunch of kernel incompatibilities and very limited ways to set some mining undervolt profiles). Do you have any plans to make a video on this same subject, but in Linux?
@Green Mamba Games Adrenalin resets everytime something goes wrong and sometimes randomly at boot and when out of sleep mode. Recent drivers rarely present this behaviour. Also, when mining with the 5700XT on Windows 10, you have to do the TDR fix.
Hopefully you will get your hands on a 3060ti or 3070 and go through these similar steps on how to figure out the OC in HiveOS vs Windows, thanks for all of your videos! Also.. have you used T-Rex mining vs lolminer?

I've been mining on nvidia gpus up to now and i added two 5700xts too
The nvidia cards hashrate is realy constant 0.01Mhash up or down but for 5700xts its 52 next 50.5 next 51 and so on is it normal?
Anybody played around with AMD Memory Tweak by Eliovp? should be much easier than to flash the timings into Bios? Btw i am doing 58 Mhs at 108 Watt with Phönix Miner newest Amd Driver and still use the Card for Gaming

What type of memory is there on a Powercolor RX 5700XT Dual? Does anyone know?
is this instruction obsolete somewhat? in the command line of TRM, if I keep the "-p x" there, the miner cannot work properly. disconnected from pool.
I installed the recommended AMD drivers used the MPT and Bios flash. Not familiar with TeamRedMiner so I ran Phoenix. Previous=51@130W Current=54@111W Measured at the wall. Seems to have fixed my stale share issue as well. I was running 12% stale on this 5700xt and now I'm at 0% so far with current settings.

@@alimalik2790 yeah just use the software put in your ethereum wallet address and ethermine will send you your eth periodically but its also important to set the payout threshhold at 0.05 if possible they payout automatically anyway every week i beleive :')

If I uninstall the current Adrenalin drivers and install the 20.Whatever you said, and all the other bios settings and what not, will it mess with my 6700xt? Not happy. Flashed the new bios after following step by step, only doubled the vram (I had the same numbers as you) and only had one type of memory. Now the system won't boot with this card... how do I revert?

you can always save the bios and flash it. Backups are great on card though. This one is the XFX

Thanks for the vid! Got into mining because of watching you and I'm still definitely a noob. Quick question: I was mining ETH with just a 2070 super on my pc, and remembered I had a 2060 laying around that I wasn't using so I put in into my pc to hopefully get better hashrates, yet when I do it seems the cards are both at around 50% utilization and I'm getting the same hashrate when I was just using the 2070 super. Just using the 2070 super it was at 100% utilization. Is that a normal occurrence? If not, any tips on how to fix? Thanks!

Hey, I have the mech oc 5700 xt, adrenaline 21.1.1, 750 mV 1300 mHz and 1840mHz VRAM. I can run lolminer at 52 mH/s while my gpu consumes about 95-98 W. Not bad if you wanna use the latest driver.
Does someone know how i can handle nvidia 10 GPUs? Afterburner is not working with 10....
Could you test this on windows server and see if the power consumption drops to be more on par with Linux? Could be a good experiment 🤔 😀😍

5700XT models on which you can try this: any except the triple dissipation model, those cards will pull 140W all day any day, out of a batch of 10 i got 1 that will do 120W and if you try to touch the memory or at least breathe close to it they will already have one foot out the door so don't do this to yourselves, you will need medication :)) on the other hand the thicc III's are probably perfect for this mod, the aorus ones as well, one issue no one talks about is that you will have trouble installing any other driver version on windows other than the one you had when you were modding the bios, you will need to flip the switch on the dual bios for a smooth installation and if you don't have a dual bios gpu well good luck to you sir
What's your memory? Samsung uses about 20watts less then micron.

I also use HiveOS and I was wondering if I could use this video card, without modifying the BIOS, but only going to the overclocking settings in HiveOS? Is there any difference between flashing the BIOS and changing the overclock settings in HiveOS? Thanks for your response.
You can just change OC, but if you flash bios also you will get even more out of the OC tweaks
I couldn't do the Power Tool because it was giving me 4 options (only 1 card plug in) and neither had like default voltage etc. Mine is a Micron chip 5700XT from asrock
Since my card has the dual bios switch, I could simply switch to the other bios in case the card gets bricked, right?
in theory? unless it overwrites it for some reason which it shouldn't. that's why the switch is there in the first place.

Initially without changing tref timings, with my overclock and bios mod I was seeing about 54.7 Mh/s. After changing my tref values (my card was at 2495, so 2495 x 3 = 8835) and reflashing my previously modded bios with the new tref timings, my increase turned out to be very small. I only gained about a 0.3 hashrate increase. Does this seem low or is this normal? Is there a way to check the name of the bios loaded onto the card to? Thanks!

I have a 5700xt asrock challenger and a taichi headed my way. Hopefully this will work on them. I’m a little nervous about the challengers thermals but I can’t be too choosy in this market 🤷♂️

thermals are so bad on that card I legit put a huge gob of paste to connect memory controller heatsink to main heatsink
