Most of the furniture in my house is thrifted and I'm always on the hunt for cool treasures. But my most astonishing find was at a yard sale. I was flipping through a stack of old books and when I opened a slightly tattered copy of a book of saints' stories, I found my maiden name in the inside front cover in childish handwriting I recognized as mine. I was states away from where I grew up (like a thousand miles or more) and there on the pile of random books at the house of a stranger was a book I'd been assigned in private school some 50 plus years before! I bought it for a quarter.
Honey the house looks adorable, with all the pink. I'm 66 with 6 grandchildren. I have pink everywhere. My granddaughter told me i love u but no more pink for me. So so cute. Beautiful!! ❤
Not my find, butane of my oldest friends found something pretty amazing in a charity shop... her husband!! She went in thrifting and came out with the phone number of the guy volunteering that day. They had several dates, and then he popped the question. They thrifted her ring, they both thrifted their wedding outfits and asked all the guests to please wear something they already have or thrift something. Their home is mostly thrifted. They actually started to challenge each other years ago, they find something new they want for their home, then they try to thrift an alternative and when they do, they put the cost difference into their travelling fund. So if they see a sofa for 300 and thrift one for 100, they bank the 200 into their savings. They even do that with clothing shopping too, not just home stuff. They say it’s scary how fast that saving fund grows and say it’s horrible to think they’d have just spent that money on “things” they found for far less. She now volunteers in the same store with him and they have been there for 20+ years now.
Can I just say that I love how unapologetically pink your home is? I personally never choose pink in my own home, but I really enjoy watching others decorate to their exact taste (especially if they are expert yet playful decorators like yourself!). Our homes don't all need to look the same, but to me, they all look the most coherent and inviting when they reflect what their inhabitants like rather than some fashionable style template.
Be careful, Choice have stated this fridge is one of the worst fridges for power usage and even unsafe for food storage cold settings standard requirements. Sorry, but thought you should know.
My favorite is an auction find, an 1860 brass plant stand with rose marble inserts for $23. Close second from same auction is a 1920s pink camelback wing chair in excellent condition for $75. My favorite thing from a market is a vintage Limoges bust of Napoleon white top and cobalt blue bottom. It was 40 euros but I love it so much. Your house is so lovely. Love the pink fridge most!! Happy Valentine's Day all!😁🇺🇸🇬🇧🌏😊♥️
I found a 1950s wardrobe in my local charity shop. I painted it a gorgeous yellow for my quirky little boy. Inside the wardrobe there are shelves with words typed on them...”pyjamas” “underwear” & “shirts”...so unique!!
I had to giggle when you said it is pretty old, probably from the 70s or 80s.🤭 I am born in the 70s🤣. My daughter found your channel a couple of years ago and now even my mom (who does not like social media at all) loves your videos.
My favorite thrifted item is a complete Japanese art deco tea set for 6 persons that I bought for only 7 euro in my local thrift shop. It's bone china and has beautiful orange flowers and golden edges.
I love your home, pink is my most favorite color. My last home was mostly thrifted. My Mom always complimented me on my home, furniture and decor. She knew most of it was thrifted. I think the quality of the pieces was much better than what can be bought today, unless you spend a fortune. You have put together a very lovely home. tfs Happy Valentine's day 🥰😘🌵🏜️❣️💕💞💓💗💖💘💝❤️🔥💌🥰😘🌵🏜️❣️💕💞💓💗💖💘💝❤️🔥💌
Hermione - I love your decor. I do hope we can all get out and go thrifting in the near future. I still can't believe you found that pink refrigerator, my friend- It's wonderful. Have a lovely day. Blessings - Judith 🎭🎵
A couple of weeks ago I found a beautiful wooden display cabinet with a leadlight door. It's about 4 feet tall and only about half a foot wide and deep so it fits perfectly into a little sliver of wall space I have at the top of my stairs right between a window and a doorway - it could not fit more perfectly if it had been custom built. I've put part of my very large shell collection in it so I can see it as I'm coming up the stairs and there's times when I just stop halfway up the stairs to stare at it because it's so pretty.
I just love Frenchie!!! One of my thrift finds is a little amazing, to me anyway. It's a little blue and white ceramic doggie. When I was 14 my mum gave me a ceramic coloured doggie, which I have treasured for 36yrs. I just love him. The little blue and white doggie is exactly the same figurine! I have never ever seen another one before. Not in shops, online, at friends place or all the thrifting I've been doing since the 90s, no where. Then last year I found him. Could hardly believe my eyes!
During lockdown last year, I found an old rocking chair in a dump that had been left outside. I sanded it down and stained it in a rich dark brown and it is beautiful in my living room. :)
My best thrift were a 1950s auto ashtray one of the pushy things in yellow £2 and a concrete bust of a female form 50p. I can remember I always did crave and still do a 1960s salon hairdryer.. Wish the charity shops were open. Your pieces are lovely
I absolutely love thrift stores! My favorite find is a big beautiful vintage pink tufted velvet arm chair in perfect condition. I’ve also thrifted some great art work. Love you and your beautiful home! I can identify with you. I always have tidying corners that need attention! It’s ok....most normal people do too!
What a lovely place with personality and flair. So many youtubers do videos of their apartments and they pretty much look the same: mostly grey & white with a potted plant here and there. Your apartment stands out and you have a great sense of style!!
Your thrifted treasures are wonderful - second hand pieces give a space so much character! I have a few of second hand pieces in my home, but one of my favourites is a wooden school desk from the 1950s.
I love your home, full of character but what I find really interesting is the origin of each piece and you make it all work!! Well done Hermione!!!😍😘 Have a beautiful week!!!
Thrifting items is so much more earth friendly than buying new...and is much less generic. You can develop your own style much easier when you are creative with older or recycled pieces. Great job!
I find the best place to thrift stuff is my Nan’s attic 😂 I don’t think I’ve bought a new piece of furniture in YEARS because of all the stuff she’s collected over time. Love a vintage find!
I found a stunning side panel at the local antiques shop -red stained maple, beautiful brassy knobs, intricate wood carvings, it's lovely! And it was only $175 CAD, which was nothing because I learned from the clerk it was a 150 year old Amish handmade product! It's in our living room now and it brings me joy everytime I look at it 💗
Love how you have incorporated all your thrift finds into your home decor. I too have many thrifted pieces and am not ashamed to show them off. People are impressed when they find out. Love your channel ! Greetings from Florida, USA
I love all the crane and rattan. I have been on the look out for some nice rattan pieces. I've found some great mirrors in the past I was able to thrift an awesome desk but 3 moves and it didn't survive the last one. 😢 I ve found nice wicker pieces, I got a round vintage clawfoot dining table off face book market place for 60 bucks with chairs. I need to replace the chairs and refinish the table but it was a great deal. I got 2 basically new sofa and love seat for an awesome deal too. Thrifted home decor is the best. Love seeing your home it's so cute and totally reflects your style.
I love all the thrifted light fixtures. I've been on the hunt for several years now for fixtures for my home. My favorite thrifted piece in my home is my MCM dining room set.
My favorite thrift find was my burgundy pea coat with a black fur collar & gold trim buttons/clips. 35 bucks & I get compliments on it every time I wear it !
OMG, the house has come such a long way and the end result for the living room AND dining room is beautiful!!!! So feminine and romantic!!!!! Keep it up!!!! We will get out of the houses soon!!!!! HMMMM Hugs
Beautiful finds, I am still so jealous of the headboards! Thrift stores are back open here, I found a very old school house cookie jar for $3 just like one my grandmother owned. Gorgeous and cozy home, much love from California ❤❤❤
I am SO over lockdown! I've just bought an apartment with the most gorgeous sash windows and high ceilings... and my plan it to furnish it with 90% thrifted items - can't wait to have a good root around the charity shops soon xxx
My one thing I thrifted and kept when I down sized was an old wood table that has one of the fold up ends broken off! My plan was to take off the broken piece and have someone make it into a drawer. ... I also have an old washstand that was my grandmother's and we recently sanded and gave it a walnut stain. It looks great! 🇨🇦🌄🏘️😀💓
Love the shell light fixture, the pink headboard and the make-up mirrors. Frenchie is adorable but I think I'd put something besides her, in the nook. Like an old skinny bookcase to fill with lovely pottery... ;-)
I thrifted everything in my two bedroom flat! my favourite is split between two things, a blue and grey bookcase which was collecting dust as a shoe rack in my dad's garage or a beautiful extendable 1920s dining table which we got for free, revarnished, refitted and painted 💓 the lady we got it from said it was her great grandmother's and I'm so glad we were able to give it a home!
Your home is just yummy! You have a great eye! Beautiful daring and amazing color choices and combinations. Just so pretty and masculine at the same time. My fave 😊Your rooms are so inviting and soft on the eye. I too cannot live without color. It’s everywhere in my home as well. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your kitchen. 💗 You have some fabulous pottery pieces and have displayed them so well! My favorite thing in your kitchen is the little cream colored coffee pot (you called it something else😂 ) by the cutting board that you pointed out. That thing is awesome! 😉 The super cute rattan desk!! 💞 Awesome find. Thrifting for what you love, coming home and cleaning it up, wondering who owned it and where it’s been, and then styling it w your other things or using it to cook a meal or light your book at night or warm your bathroom floor....is the best thing EVER in my opinion. It’s seriously the funnest way to save money EVER! ✌🏼❤️🏡
I have these thrifted glasses, very 80s floral style which I brought all the way back from Canada with me, I love them so much. I also got a Burberry Trench which I wore throughout my teen years until I outgrew it. I paid less than £10 for it.
The juice decanter is from the 80's. My mum had one. My daughter and I are itching to rummage in in charity shops, we'll give it a couple of weeks after lockdown finishes (whenever that'll be??) and then visit as many as we can.
I am so missing my trips to the charity shops fingers crossed they can reopen soon x your house looks beautiful love the big mirror in the dining room that was a real bargain 😊 xx
I thrifted a peacock chair in perfect condition for $15. I am still flabbergasted every time I see it in my library!! The cushion I bought for it was over twice that amount 🤣
I found so many things last summer, but probably my French provincial tallboy and bedside tables. But I also love my Hollywood Regency cherub chandelier and lamp.
I love thrifting. 😍 i've been thinking of you and was hoping that you post. Et voilà, a Video 🙌 and i love the pink. I have also pink accents. Omg i'm in love with your bedroom 😍😘
My first time! I enjoyed So much!!! What a lovely and charming home! Your thrift finds are amazing! The pink refrigerator!!!! OH. MY. Gooooooodnessssdd!!! AD💞RE!! 😱😱😱😱😱
My favorite finds so far are a corduroy, high back blue loveseat for 25 dollars 😭 Think mid century vibes, and I’m a lover of collectors cups so I was really pumped when I found a small 4 piece set of the McDonald’s carebear glasses
About the dining room lamp: You might want to put a (faux) plaster ceiling rosette under the lamp, then it won't look lost on the ceiling, regardless of its size. It will anchor it.
Hi Hermione, this is my first time on your channel, and I just wanted to say that I adore this video! After watching several thrifted decor videos, yours is just the inspiration I needed for my space. You make all those beautifully unique pieces come together in beautiful unity :) Plus, it doesn’t hurt that you have a lovely voice. Thank you for making this! You’ve earned a subscriber

That’s incredible!!

Grandchildren are known to always be right, but this one has made an error. Teehee
Adore pink...just love it😀
Lovely home

that is a brilliant story! thank you for taking the time to write all of that!! : )
That pretty fridge needs a princess crown! I love her!
This makes me want to go thrifting too! My best thrift finds: a fully intact vintage Singer sewing machine, and a gorgeous vintage secretary desk.
I LOVE to see your BTS merch!! It'd be great to see your ideas on how to incorporate merch into decor in a classy/grown-up way

Nothing comes close to a pink SMEG fridge, but I have found lustreware, retro lamps, and some very well made wool suits.
Be careful, Choice have stated this fridge is one of the worst fridges for power usage and even unsafe for food storage cold settings standard requirements. Sorry, but thought you should know.
I love the refrigerator pink is my favourite colour I have pink everywhere in my home.

I really liked the color palette in your house, especially the pink with the gold
You have created a truly lovely home - from a Canadian fan. 👍🇨🇦
I feel like thrifted things are so reasonably priced where you are! You have such great finds!
Furniture-wise my favorite thrifted item was an antique gold mirror with a unique shell design.
I loved the pink door in the guest room!
Wowwwww I am obsessed with your style! I would love to see a video about your favourite charity shops because I can never find any good ones!
Super cute house! The guest bedroom just needs an accent painted wall and updated decorative pillows.

Yes, move the rattan desk from the sitting room to the guestroom. It will look fab with the headboard.
I just had to go back and watch the pink fridge episode, bc that find was gold.
Love the Smeg pink fridge 💕 I think Frenchie is the perfect name. The best item I have thrifted so far is a £10 bureau 🥰
I totally agree really missing the charity shops ! 😣... gorgeous home xx
I have these thrifted glasses, very 80s floral style which I brought all the way back from Canada with me, I love them so much. I also got a Burberry Trench which I wore throughout my teen years until I outgrew it. I paid less than £10 for it.
That dresser should be sanded and come back to its original look. You can do it. That fridgeeeeeeee. Well done. All beutiful.
I've always been jealous of your circle vanity mirror!
The juice decanter is from the 80's. My mum had one. My daughter and I are itching to rummage in in charity shops, we'll give it a couple of weeks after lockdown finishes (whenever that'll be??) and then visit as many as we can.
The cabinet in the bathroom would look lovely with some mid-century mod legs. Love your space, sis!
I am so missing my trips to the charity shops fingers crossed they can reopen soon x your house looks beautiful love the big mirror in the dining room that was a real bargain 😊 xx
You could remove the paint on the mid century modern dresser with some high quality stripper!
That would be a great future project Hermione! I’d love to see it restored.
I've stripped a chest of drawers. Its a messy long job but the end results are worth it
Maybe start with the hot air one first and then gel stripper with extra fine steel wool? All out of doors, of course.
The picture that says "F*ck it". 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Haha i was thinking i need it too! XD
Wow, you have such a good eye for home decor...and that fridge!!! 😱👏😍
I’m madly in love with your fridge! ❤️❤️
I love your headboard and the DR mirror is to DIE for! Will start looking for one, as mine is too small and square above the fp mantle. Great space.
Olive wood heart bowls were a great find too!!
Can't wait to see the last room in your house after decorating ! 😋❤️

I adore your house and love the way you have decorated it! I, too, love pink but I love purple more. Thanks for sharing this!
Hey, Hermione ! I think the little cutting board (with the grooves running lengthwise) is for making gnocchi. Cool find ! =)
Super adorable home. I love the pops of pink💖 My favorite thrifted pieces I have are my Flamingo Pink Pyrex bowl and pie plate.
Dear Hermione. Could you please make a video with some spring deco? I'd love to see your ideas.🥰

About the dining room lamp: You might want to put a (faux) plaster ceiling rosette under the lamp, then it won't look lost on the ceiling, regardless of its size. It will anchor it.
Hi Hermione, this is my first time on your channel, and I just wanted to say that I adore this video! My fave find, was not thrifted, but at a car boot sale, it is a mid century purple swivel chair i snagged for 5 dollars US.
Loved this vid! Most of my home decor is also thrifted, my favourite find is a beautiful wicker arched shelf - I gasped when I found it!!
I LOVE your mid century night stands😍
