Lose the half-range “lunges” and find a way to incorporate full knee bend.

Hi guys, I am 77 and I love Ben’s teachings. I do the backwards treadmill first then tib raises, calf raises( straight and bent knees) and my elephant walk, seated good mornings, step ups( a low step) and split squats on my stairs. My right knee is still not like new, due to a bad injury 2 years ago, but I can tell it is a little better all the time. 😊❤

His program is great. Sign up if you can afford it! If not follow all his free advice on his you tube channel. He is so inspirational! Love seeing him and his whole family. I’m 64 and while i thought I was in pretty good shape, but I realized my knees were not functional. I couldn’t get up off the floor without ALOT of help. I started with the book and now I have been a subscriber to his program for 7 months. Highly recommend

How are the knees today? I'm 67 and mine are my daily "cross to bear."

So much better ! You have to take it slow and steady. Think months not days. For example going up and down stairs is a breeze. I don’t even hold the rail.

@@kathyfinn5996 Wonderful to learn of your results, and appreciative of the advice that those results don't happen overnight. Perseverance paid off for you and that gives me hope that it could pay off for me, too! 😎

This is great! I have learned a lot from kneesovertoesguy - and this specific focus on seniors made it perfect to send to my parents and in-laws, and they’ll just click with it way more. Thanks!

Now 77, I worked at the University of Minnesota in the 70's & 80's. There was a old gentleman that daily walked backwards on the flat surface for a half hour. He said he was part of a paid study. I don't know the outcome, just know that he advocated for it and continued to get older......I've been doing it on and off ever since. The health club I belong to has a couple of unpowered treadmills with adjustable tension and a fixed incline. All good. I have no pain or mobility issues to date.

It's definitely workings for me . The backward walking and application of sled is really working for me too . I'm also noticed more people doing some of those knee over toes routine so it's definitely gaining some use by various people . Young and older

I came across Ben last year, at a time when it was becoming almost impossible for me to walk due to excruciating pain on both knees.
I remember I was sitting down extremely concerned, not knowing what to do, without insurance, when I found his video, it was God/Universe sent.
I immediately started walking backward and could feel the difference right away. Ben is the reason why I am still able to walk and release pain almost immediately with just 3 of his simple exercises.
I walk backward every day and do the simple heel and toe exercises 3 times a week.
I'm ready to go to the next level, I just learned that he now has a treadmill specifically for walking backward, I have no doubt that it will keep thousands of people away from surgery.

I knew your mom was in Clearwater Beach I live here too! Ur mom is inspirational. I’m 65 and having hip issues I walk 25 miles a week. Do yoga. Lift weights. But my hips still meet work. Thanks for the exercises. Maybe we can do some someday together!!

Question, I’m 71 in fairly good health. Do have shoulder issues right now(rotator cuff). I really would like to buy the sled, I see that it is 75 pounds unweighted. I’m just not sure if I can pull 75 pounds…yet. I still would like to get it, can you give me your thoughts on that?

If you you want to go up a hill backwards, you could come down the hill frontwards until you get used to it!

I make my 78 year old roommate come down off of the shuttle bus backwards. Seniors often can walk up the steps of the bus but be unable to get off. The railings are behind them & the knees don't bend safely to step down. I have her turn around & do the sans as she came up, but in reverse. She has the railings in front of her, which she is firmly grasping, so she is not in fear of falling.
And if ever she fell it would be down a shorter distance, simply sitting onto her rump rather than face first from the highest step on which she's standing or even risking an arm fracture of stopping a fall in a panic.
Stairs frontwards & backwards are good for seniors.

Im wondering if using a resistance band around your ankles while walking backward would work.

    • @Gufenaugh
      @Gufenaugh 4 месяца назад +3

I put to large bands together (Rogue fitness bands looped together) anchor them to something sturdy and can walk backwards roughly 4-6 steps against resistance, the slowly go back to starting point forward which also fights the band to keep from going forward too fast. Wear band around hip. Bit tedious, but 3-5 minutes gets job done. Can do in 12 foot area. Garage might be good area.
