    Not even joking, i stumbled upon this video after my playgroup just had an argument regarding the new precons with every one of them dumping on the phyrexian growing threat as "mediocre" and "not synergizing with old phyrexian strategies." I literally name dropped half of the adds in your video and then AFTER THAT, your video popped up in my recommends. SUBBED.

    Played Brimaz today and he was incredible!!! I had so many counters and token baddies out... My last three Phyrexian tokens all had +5/+5 counters, Brimaz had +4/+4, and my other Phyrexians had at least +3/+3. Proliferate is incredible as I would use my low strength Phyrexians as blockers and proliferate upon their deaths.
    I am going to add the cards suggested in the video and make this deck lethal!!! I had 32 lives by the end because no one wanted to help me proliferate further.

    I'm surprised the upgrade lists lacks Mondrak - the same effect as Anointed Procession for the same mana value, for around half the monetary value at time of writing, and it's itself a 4/4 Phyrexian to trigger Brimaz, as well as a sac outlet (not a free one, sadly, but still useful!)

    You're one of the best EDH deckbuilders on RUclips, you and Joey from EDHRECast know how to build a well oiled "Phyrexian pun intended" machine of a deck.

    I've not seen any love for Skyboon Evangelist on these precon upgrade guides so far. 10 cards isn't a lot, but evasion for the team plus putting counters on up to 6 different creatures seems really solid!

    Feel like incubation tokens a sneaky good! Need to play around with them some more to weight in fully. Nice tech!

  • @MangekyouUchiha

    I think Excise is getting underestimated. It gets around indestructible and exiling a permanent is way better than sending it to the graveyard. Also, the opponent has to spend mana to transform their incubator so the two white cost is a fair trade off.

    • @CommanderMechanic
      @CommanderMechanic  Год назад +2

      White - and black/white even moreso - has SO MANY ways to exile permanents with much lower downsides. I don't think it's bad but I don't think it's GOOD, either. It can't be reused like Skyclave Apparition can, either.

    So I am fairly new to commander (never build a deck, 15+ years not actively played the game but still somewhat watched stuff) and I was building my first theoretical deck - turns out my first Deck (Tayam) ended up being more of a tryhard cEDH instead of just for fun.
    So I was looking for another commander which would be fun to play.. and found Brimaz. First check was Glissa, Herald of Predation but I had the feeling that incubate was more of a white thing and didn't find as many potential in GB rather than WB
    Brimaz also very much benefits from incubating. Due to the fact that most of our creatures are either artifact or phyrexians and mostly incubated he works very well with elesh norn / the argent etchings. Basically it's a boardwipe every 3 turns. Additionally to that, there are some cheap spells and creatures that help you to keep proliferating ( Grim Affliction, Whisper of the dross, unbounded potential) and also there's Vraska, Betrayal's Sting
    regarding the poison counters... Let's look at Vraska's fall and the god tier creature for Brimaz - Blightbelly Rat... Phyrexian (incubate 2 through brimaz), Toxic1 , 2/2 body for 2 and when it dies proliferate

    Some very good choices. But I would put in a few more support cards like Drivnod and Teysa Karlov for more copies of Brimaz. Teysa will also give your tokens lifelink and vigilance which maybe the difference on a win. One last card I'm thinking about putting in is Biotransference turning all your non phyrexian creatures artifacts and giving you a 2/2 artifact creature on cast.

    • @cameronyager9221
      @cameronyager9221 Год назад +4

      Drivnod and teysa do nothing with brimaz other than teysa giving the tokens vigilance
      Both of them are looking specifically for "Dies" triggers brimaz's second ability triggers at the end of your turn with an "if" clause

    It's a good 2 drop rock! I'd easily remove some of the other rocks over it if ya need to remove one.

    I think the splicers and golem part of the deck isn't that great. Wouldn't adding cards with charge counters be more useful since you would be able to abuse the proliferate effect more?

    does a phyrexian creature need to have the phyrexian keyword in their creature type?

    • @CommanderMechanic
      @CommanderMechanic  Год назад +1

      they technically do, even if they haven't been reprinted with the type update. Check Gatherer, Magic's online ruling source - many creatures have been updated to Phyrexian and not been reprinted as such yet

    Your microphones constant peaking throughout this video makes it really difficult to listen to. Please fix that otherwise people will avoid your videos because of how bad the audio is.
