    Hey friends, what do you recommend for the focal point for the center of the new raised cut flower garden? Thanks for your input and watching!🙂💚🌸

      A rose tree in the center surrounded by a small, tiered circular stone base at the bottom full of evergreen trailing plants and annuals/perennials. Thank you for the inspiration, your garden is beautiful!

    I would just do a circle garden with bricks around it and small boxwoods, then you'd have some winter interest

      Thank you for the idea, Marilyn!🙂 I like that you mentioned winter interest, definitely need to factor that it for our Midwest winters!❄️☃️❄️

    Michelle, you could center a simple bird bath, or get an old bird bath but plant it up with succulents and under plant vista petunias! ❤😂❤

    When I was young my brother used a mirror to burn ants by angling it toward the sun. They would actually catch fire. I would worry about having a mirror in my garden in case the sun hit it just right and caused a fire. I think a bird bath and bird feeder would be nice in the center of your cut garden. I'm not sure they would be tall enough for a major focal point so maybe you coudl also add hanging plants on metal plant stands.

    A few boxwoods and an old birdbath or an urn on a pedestal with flowers.
    What part of Illinois do you live? I live in Bloomington. Have you been to the third Sunday market in Bloomington?

    Your garden is coming along nicely. I would place a birdbath as the focal point and call it a day. May I ask what the name of the Salvia is that did well and you used in your arrangement? Thank you for sharing!

    • @Michelleshomeandgarden
      @Michelleshomeandgarden  3 месяца назад

      Hi Anna, thank you for idea!🙂 The salvia was from Johnny’s Seeds and is called Oxford Blue. It does wonderful in cut arrangements and holds up well. It also looks great in the garden.🌸

      Hey Leticia, thanks for the idea! A fig tree in the center does sound interesting! Will it survive zone 5 winters though? Or is it like my olive tress? I haul them inside every winter.🌸💚😊

    ❓❓❓since you have a full-time job and you have such a beautiful backyard and flower gardens and landscaping then I’m gonna ask the next question do you have a housekeeper indoors since you loved to be outdoors when you’re not at your job??

      Great question, Pamela. no paid housecleaner. John and I share the basic weekly cleaning indoors and the remaining slides until winter when I’m not outside in the garden. 🙂🌸💚

    Really enjoyed the tour and explanations of all your plants and how they've all grown for you. Absolutely gorgeous gardens and decor. Before you even said anything about that silver pitcher when you were thrifting, I was hoping you'd pick it up, because I would've in a heartbeat! Perfect for a beautiful garden bouquet. I think a very tall/large pedestal urn planter would be a good focal point in your cutting garden. Perhaps planted with striking Supertunias with tall grasses or Queen Tut papyrus in the center. I'm not a big fan of grasses in general but I'm loving my papyrus the last couple years that I've used it in mixed planters. I find the structure interesting and love them in flower arrangements too. The cream colour for your small mirrors beautifully coordinates with your obelisk and little chair. Thanks for another great video! 😊 ~M~

    Dear Michelle,
    Your gardens are so lovely and so are you! I really enjoy seeing what you find at the thrift stores and how you incorporate everything into the landscape. We have a ”swap shop” at our local landfill where I’ve found some very interesting items for my gardens. In fact, last week I was thrilled to pick up a pretty wicker chair that I now have on my smaller deck. Thank you for all the fun ideas you share with all of us! Loved your red and white outfit today……..so, so pretty!
