- Hello everyone, and today I have the no nonsense beginner guide to the leningrad dutch defense. This underplayed opening is very simple and powerful, and today I'll teach you the basics.
(also queen's gambit guide coming soon...)
as a dutch person i like the name of this opening
Mister Arnold Schwarzenegger.
@@Primitive_Code what
@@Primitive_Codethat’s Austrian 😂
Exactly, the main reason for me playing the Dutch defense is being Dutch myself 😂
As a fans of F1😂 I listen to Dutch National Anthem more than my own.
What are the chances that I tell myself I’ll learn the Dutch today and we get a video!!!! Thanks for the amazing videos!
Such a quick and concise video! Good job!
I always play this against White d4. Could you please make a complete video with all the variations? Loved the content though and I did learn something new! Thanks a ton
Still rewatching this regularly; it's by far the best L Dutch video out there!!! Thanks!
I thought today that I wanted to try the dutch but I did not find much on it and suddenly I found your video on it and it is about the leningrad dutch! fairly solid that even gms can play it and pull it off.
i ALWAYS win when i play the leningrad dutch, but i get CRUSHED by three pounds of feathers afterwards 😢 help
try buying a gravity flipping hat
Can you make a guide like this for the King’s Gambit? I enjoy the way you teach openings
I am surprised that you suggest g6 as early as move 2, as it is the most common strategic mistake in Leningrad Dutch. The problem with the early g6 is that the pawn on g6 becomes a hook and will easily be punished by h4!. h5 is often followed immediately after and apply kingside pressure on Black. In many lines, White forces hxg6 hxg6 which leads to very uncomfortable position for Black or plays h6 to kick your bishop out to the starting sqaure if you foolishly tried to fianchetto the bishop to g7. To show an example lines, the "main" line you suggested, 1. d4 f5 2. c4 g6?, is crushed by 3. h4! Bg7 4. h5 c5 5. d5 Nf6 6. h6. Even d4 setups as tame as London System can easily dominate with 1. d4 f5 2. Bf4 g6? 3. h4!; just roll the h pawn towards Black and White is all set. I hope that this helps.
h4 occurs slightly above 1% of games, so I missed this small detail, starting with Nf6 is more accurate. Nice catch!
Could u plz plz plz do a full masterclass on the leningrad, it is my favorite opening to play against 1.D4 but I have been struggling with it recently.
It would be much appreciated
this video is BRILLIANT, so sad he was crushed by three tons of feathers in 1452. R.I.P.
I look forward to trying this, great video 🙏
I'm new to chess. Learned the basics when I was a kid & jumping into it now like 3 decades later. Stupid question... What confuses me with all these openers is when playing other beginners, they don't follow like all the tutorials show. What's the strategy when you begin with an opener & they do random moves vs what you're expecting for your opening. Hopefully that made sense.
At the beginner level, learning most openings isn't really helpful, because people play whatever, even if it's trash. For you, I would recommend to learn a basic setup you can play in most of your games (Italian Game setup is likely best), and focus on improving your tactics by doing chess puzzles, which will really help you improve.
@@Volclus Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. I will add that when I learned the Kings Indian opening, that really improved my game. I'll look up the Italian opening & start the puzzles, which I've been ignoring. Thanks again! 🙏
Anyone learning this because of rdr2 😭
And in this variation after the move g5 black kings gonna be opened after casting Kingside as black so will it be a trouble?
One of the best chess videos on youtube keep going 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Finally an opening that I play a lot
Nimzo-Larsen please!!!!! Your openings are the best explained :D
"I got a plan. Its involves us winning a chess competition"
Is this basically a bird’s opening with black?
Why it is called dutch?
Qe8 is a very important move, it prevents the idea of Ng5 trying to fork the queen and rook
Nice overview! It looks like you have a lot of other instructional content as well, more than enough to earn my sub.
can you do the dragon Sicilian not hyper dragon because
i like your opening guides
As a half-dutch person i searched for this opening
Could you make a guide about Réti opening?
Now finally we can defeat nazis with this defence
Man I just wanna say Thank you. Thank you for putting in the efforts. :) I liked this video.
man this video is so underated i wish i was earlier
I have 100% win rate with this opening

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."(John 3 :16)
Great video, watched it several times!
I literally just went from watching this video directly to playing a blitz game, got black against d4, played the Dutch, opponent fell for the knight trap and resigned. Chess is too easy
Can you do a video on the classical dutch, and include that class dutch vs the London?
THANK YOU SO MUCH
is b6 ever a move so u could play it like a reversed birds opening? after the pawn is on f5 and the knight is on f6
Yes! Although slightly worse without the first move advantage, you can play in about the same way.
