In this draw with me, I go from watercolor to gouache to colored pencil to oil pastel, the new mixed media workflow I've been experimenting with these past few weeks. While I work on the painting, we have a chat about failure, and why you should have faith in yourself and the process.

This is an old vid, but I definitely needed it. Thank you so so so much. I’m very scared to try out RUclips, and to start a business, even though I have people that want me to. I appreciate this video so much. Again, thank you.
Thanks for the kind encouragement, Kelsey. 😀 As a fellow creative person, I like how this video resonates with my struggles.
Just want to say that I really love how your painting turned out. Such a gorgeous colour combination. Honestly your videos are incredibly inspiring and I'm planning to start properly making videos because of them! Thanks! ^.^
Love this painting/drawing.
Faliure, and the bad feelings that come with it, causes insane growth. If you haven't failed, you haven't tried, accept it and grow past it
Thank you!! Did you use a reference photo?
I now have my RUclips channel for about 3-4 years. Some periods of time I've posted weekly but for the most time I post about once a month (which isn't really enough to grow - I know).
And I'm not monetized yet, which I really had hoped for. Sometimes I wonder whether I should just quit after all this time and effort put into it.
But then I get a comment. "wow you really inspired me to draw." or "I showed this to my kids and they wanted to draw immediately". Even if I can influence a couple people this way, all the time and effort is worth it.
Monetization is something that will make making more and better content a lot easier, and it will make me able to put more time into my art. But even if I never get monetized, I'll probably keep making videos for the reason that I can help other people enjoy making art more :). That is what I decided is what success looks like to me and helps me keep going. What I wanted to say with this is: Maybe you are afraid of failing in a certain way, but you'll find a new meaning to success when you are on the journey.
I always love watching your videos! thanks for making them ♥
no omg i feel like we would be besties bc i've been binge watching your videos and you love EXACTLY the same art as me - impressionism 😛 and women all round in the art field bc they are the uber embodiment of art !! and your vibe/energy is just chefs kiss aaaah i love your videos so so much
If you’re in NYC, feel free to hit me up via DM or email!! I need more friends in the city hehe 😅
thank you for this message! We will never know if we don't try
I totally love your videos they are so up lifting and I m sure you are gonna be so successful in future ❤✨
The only thing holding me back is how indecisive I am about which used camera to get 🤦. I'm promising myself I'll get one once I finish my current commission though to put an end to my constant putting off of making a decision on it XD. I think you'll actually be one of the first channels, definitely first art channels, I've followed on over my creator account.
Anyways, I liked the painting, failure to be what you wanted or not, I think it looks nice, and that it's also cool to see people's failed pieces.
for what it's worth, I love my Canon M50 Mark I! If you aren't looking to livestream or record in 4k, it's perfect. I'm currently thinking about investing in another (but the Mark II) when I can
Halfway in the video I must say, very inspirational, encouraging - thank you!!! You speak from how I feel these days
That’s the goal! 💗 Thank you so much for watching
Awesome video ! I have started my first video, I was scared of starting. So I decided to make a video about fear of starting as my first video.
I like the video quality and audio quality of this video. Music is nice and soothing and the way you speak is engaging. I hope to find what works for me visual wise.
You’ll figure it out! It takes time to settle on a style and format that feels most true to you, but as long as you feel free to experiment you’ll get there!
This is such an important message for all creative people! It's great that you made this Kelsey :)
Thank you Anna! I’ve really been needing this myself, so I’m sure lots of other people have been needing it too. Thank you for watching as always 💕
Good points yet again! I love how comfortable you are on camera to share your insights and wisdom. Also - love the mixed media approach you are using here!!! I’m a mixed media fanatic! 💗💗💗💗💗💗
Glad you enjoyed it! It’s never a thing I used to do but the more art supplies I collect the more natural it feels to use them all in conjunction with each other. Thank you so much for watching! 🥰
I love using these as short podcasts when my homework! Also, In getting used to the work and have way more time! Now the problem is how to use it well... Anyway awesome video!
ooh, a podcast, now there’s a thought… Time management is definitely something I struggle with, and hopefully I’ll settle on a system that works for me so I can share it!

Thank you for the encouragement! This gets me thinking. Thank you. I think I reframed an "art unworthiness" stumbling block recently. Not completely, but enough that it may tip completely the other way one day. And, I did upload my first video on my non-art youtube and learned to do OpenShot to make it. It was a concert vid, not art. But it's progress because I had no idea how to do it.
That's definitely progress! Congratulations on your first video, even if it isn't art related!
@@KelseyRodriguez Thank you!
I have recently discovered your channel. I really appreciate all the information you share and really enjoy your content. I have my own youtube channel and have uploaded 83 videos and honestly I still don't feel like giving up. Although I have a very little following and only a handful of people are actually interested in watching my stuff. I am still hopeful and trying to get better. You videos have been really helpful! More power to you! :)
Thanks Kelsey💜🙌
