When Legion came out and everyone was complaining how bad Arms was with the RNG elements, I laughed and figured people were just being dramatic. How could a spec that does such great damage be so unbearable?

I did really enjoy MoP overall,surprisingly. I remember being online as the server went down for patch 6.0, on Outland EU,one of the most populated realms, and everyone was saying stuff like ''goodbye worst expac ever'', and I was sitting there like, damn im actually going to miss this. (I had not played the beta at that time so I couldnt say for myself how bad the gameplay would actually be as Mage/warlock,which is what I main)
I did really enjoy this rant about warriors,even though I know absolutely shit about them, I could relate to my own class.
Even though for mages in legion they've actually improved the gameplay,but as for warlock, it's like it was for Arms..I don't understand how they managed to make it worse than WoD but they sure succeeded.
The more I look back at MoP the more I seem to miss its gameplay and features. All of a sudden the legendary cloak wasnt such a bad idea compared to the ''Legendaries'' we have today. (Also blizz bring back CMs
Right!? It would be great if they implemented CMs again. I quite miss it considering I was somewhat of a serious CM player, especially in WoD.
They sure did, if blizzard would've done anything but slightly nerf the wall jump in skyreach and everbloom early on, but instead they just left it for dead. Disable soulcap, nerf blademaster by like 20% inside cms so something else than agility users had a spot, they also should've limit certain Dark sim spells, such as dragons breath and bramble patch which made DKs way too overpowered.
But you're right, CMs are probably dead and gone unfortunately, since during wod most ppl were just buying boosts to get it done rather than trying themselves. Also why they made the timers longer in Legion is because some people doesnt like to be 'timed', but they also couldnt remove it completely because some people do.
Anyways, Mythic+ is a tragedy as it is right now, most ppl are just doing mos because its the most efficient. In 7.2 they've made some changes so that all mythic+ reward equally much for the time invested, but I still feel that you'd be doing it for the wrong reason. (AP Grind > fun)
my main has been arms for years now and i dont like it that much currently but if i respec/play a different class i feel like im cheating send help

A question I would have for you Asmon, is what do you think about Wreckingball vs Avatar in a mythic plus (not tyran) even when combined/not combined with the belt? im constantly trying to decide between the 2, but they seem similar.
I keep trying optimal build or Arms every couple of weeks, but it feels like it's going to give me Carpal Tunnel Syndrome just like playing Gladiator (RIP, you died too young) did in WoD. On a similar point, I'm OK with the changes to prot because I don't have to spam Focused Rage while offtanking now. Also not being punished rage generation-wise for choosing to do AoE is nice as well, and the free uses of Revenge work well for more Ignore Pains with Vengeance.
I agree with you on Fury, it's so smooth, especially if you get the Ceann-Ar Charger (I don't have it on live, but I have derped around with it a lot on the PTR). Your screen lighting up with massive numbers as you line up your cooldowns is mouth watering.
Major peeve time:
Like you said on your part on Massacre, it is a massive problem, but not just in the talent itself. The Execute phase is further emphasised by the Juggernaut, Sense Death and Berserking traits, and on fights like Star Augur (pre-nerf) where the boss has a large health pool and you don't have to move away, you start chaining 1mil + crits for nearly 30 secs and get a massive DPS hard-on. But those traits decline in usefulness on fights like Gul'dan, where his Storm forces you to drop your stacks quite often and Elisande where her Execute phase is divided into 3. Varying DPS dependant problems are that Tichondrious might change phase half-way though your execute phase and Krosus might drop the bridge. The question then becomes 'how do you balance those traits and talents'?
Increase the duration of Juggernaut? Potential PvP implications, blizzard does't like that. Good chance of working, but it goes against Fury's class fantasy of keeping everything short and immediate.
Nerf Massacre and the execute phase? Then Frothing Berserker becomes mandatory, and we have enough mandatory talents as it is.
Replace Massacre with something else? Then what's the point of Execute and it's traits?
Make Massacre baseline? Could make the execute phase a lot of fun with Frothing Berserker as you manage your rage bar dancing between 75 and 100 rage, but the talent that replaces it would probably have to be crap. Given that Fury is very balanced with regards to the other DPS specs right now, a straight power boost like this isn't going to be realistic.
Make Execute an Arms only thing and give a different
Hey Asmongold, so I just got into wow for legion and picked the warrior class. While my guild is doing progression, I feel like I am constantly the one at fault specifically with prot. Do you believe for casual players who don't spend a lot of time perfecting, prot is viable for progression?
prot war 7.0 - best one ever. prot war 7.1.5 - worst one ever.
I didn't think warrior could get so bad that I'd switch mains, ever. but it did.
why the fuck would they get rid of Off GCD skill (Heroic Strike/Focused Rage)...
I haven't really played any other expansion but I agree that 7.0 Protection Warriors were amazing, as of right now however I'd say they are pretty eh.
Hostik devastator prot warriors are beastly if you know how to play them right
I like prot warriors right now. Play style with devestator is very good. The only downside to warriors is that it's hard in heavy magic fights. If they think of something to give warriors something like active mitigation for magic, they will be even better. Warriors pre 7.1.5 was pretty shit. spamming devestate for days got old. no choice at all.

Why is CoF good for Fury warrior? right now battle cry and odyns fury have almost the same CDs so what are you discounting battle cry to combo with? and is that combo more important then just battle cry odyn's fury?
You didn't even mention the Manacles legendary for prot warrior. Combined with the legendary gloves you heal for a lot and can tank mythic + without a healer depending on key level and affixes.
@Asmongold Yo man, main protection here around 907 ilvl equipped.. Got belt and hands legendary as you said are the best combination .. I was wondering if one i replace with a trinket (pretty good now imo) give me your oppinion. cheers o/

hello Asmongold, should I use a set with 18% haste with lower ilvl (about 2 in total ilvl) or a set with 23% with the lowest ilvl
If anyone that's playing a warrior now is wishing they had something more as a warrior, I really recommend checking out a DH as at least an alt. I know I'm having a really good time on it now, not just because of our broken belt opener. It's everything I've ever loved about playing my warrior and more.
I mained DPS warrior since wotlk and come legion, I found myself on a mage. When I switched to DH this patch it made me realize everything about warriors that made me love playing wow. Current DH and 5.4 warrior are basically the same thing. Fel Rush serves as both a sudo-heroic strike and a non-targetted charge, Felblade is a low range resetting charge that does damage, and VR is more mobility to make up for heroic leap. Cooldowns feel really good and you have burst windows just as strong, if not stronger than CS in MoP. And when you're geared you have the utility to tank even some higher M+ as a dps because of your leech and mobility (if you get (un)lucky and get the eye beam hat and the blur chest, you can even do fortified).

biggest problem with prot warriors right now is if I use devastator my offtank cannot hold agro against even my auto attacks so I either die to not being able to generate rage to use ip on krosis or I die to pulling agro and not dropping my stacks. I mean I can just switch to a worse talent build but I feel like other tanks should do more threat.
I do feel like a beast in Fury most of the time. My Warrior is an alt just breaking into the 880's and I tend to be going toe to toe with all my friends/guildies in the dps department who are usually playing on their mains. It's REALLY REALLY REALLY awesome when your group is good enough to pull mobs one right after another so that's you've got 5-10 seconds of War Machine still up on the pull.
Me and another TCer are currently working on Frenzy, and as its looking it will come out ahead. The rotation will complelty ignore RB outside of BC. Just keep an eye on the MMO champ warrior page. :]
Thoughts on set bonus' for 7.2? Will Fury still be the top DPS spec?

Shoulders and Boots are great to have for old xmogs raids/dungeons farm so I actually love them, they have their place among legendary items.
I completely agree with you. I have been maining fury for 4 years and I am addicted to it right now. I love frothing berserker and being patient and getting rewarded is my favorite part. When I first played arms, I liked using mortal combo. The play style was fun to me, even though you could still be rage starved. Focused rage really is a painful talent, and even though I can play arms at an above average level, I would never pick it over fury. Hopefully that talent is changed, or mortal combo is buffed

Hornchief honestly about the same. Depends weather or not you enjoy one play style over another.
I enjoy both prots (both are similar with slight differences imo) but fury is just so much more fun than ret.
My first toon back in 2008 was an Arms warrior, which I enjoyed up until WoD where I hated it. I did a respec to prot for leveling only and was happy with that until they got rid of focused rage and the fluidity kind of felt off, but I still liked the spec. I've since done another respec to Fury and enjoy this spec immensely. I agree on a health talent option as well. I do pretty well I think on managing my health and know what I can and cannot handle, but something to help me out a bit more would be great. I'm not asking for some huge heal but just a little something extra to keep my ass alive for a couple more seconds.

when you mentioned 5.4 arms warrior i almost broke into tears. that was my absolute favorite version of warrior!
i have the shoulders, boots and execute ring. but i'm also wearing collapsing future and the 10% autoattack ring. thats why i have the ring in the bag atm maybe i should switch it for collapsing future but i'm not sure.
I really love prot right now, with devestator, booming voice and anger management. The belt combinded with anger management, your demo shout is up for every pack and + battle cry. So much dmg.

Can you or someone in the comments tell me how to utilise Execute properly (besides having the opportunity to stack Juggernaut on low movement boss fights)? I feel like it is better to just ignore it and stick to the normal rotation when you know that you cant keep up the stacks...
I hope they adjust arms to make it way less rng than it is and maybe give it a builder ability outside of autoattacks and charge to generate rage. Unfortunately I don't think that is happening and like many warriors I've spec swapped begrudgingly to fury.
the legendary wrists might aswell be a prot exclusive since they are so amazing for tanking and basically mandatory
I started this expansion as Fury but later switched Loot Spec to Arms for Legendaries/Relics, the first drop I got was the Legendary Gloves so I basically said goodbye to Fury and didn't touch it again until Nighthold came, as someone who enjoys Focused Rage, I still consider Arms to be in a very bad spot compared to 90% of the classes right now. The only reason we aren't completely dead is Draught of Souls. What's worse is that if you check any Heroic Nighthold rankings you will see that even Arms warriors with Draught of Souls and the best Legendaries aren't even close to doing as good DPS as Demon Hunters, Frost DKs or Mages. I wish they'd give Arms more options in terms of talents and some sort of safety net for Tactician Procs.
As a prot warrior I definitely agree. I think devastator play style however is a lot of fun and I like always having a pool of rage to work with where as taking indomitable I feel like I scrambling to get a big ignore pain up while still doing any amount of damage

As a prot warrior main for years: devastator loses a button and gives you something else to monitor (white attacks) while tanking, indomitable helps for prog but keeps you more or less rage starved because you fish for procs more often. I hate how devastator is essentially mandatory, it completely killed my favorite class/spec
I used to main a warrior in WOTLK and switched (about a month ago ) from mage to warrior again. Fury is different from what it used to be, but I still get the same feeling playing it, its the meaty, brutal attacks, it just feels like a warrior should, and the fact that it puts out damage makes it even better. Arms tho... if they do what you suggested having overpower be triggered by rend (like in WOTLK) and focus rage deleted from the game would make it a lot better. I fully agree with you on fury, it is probably the best iteration of the spec that we've had. In a world of RNG the warrior of all classes is the one that still has control over the rotation and as you've said, when you master it its so rewarding....
I never even tried to play Arms in the beggining of the expansion because that stupid focused rage build was so fucking boring. I've been playing warrior since 2008'ish, and I always liked Fury and Protection, it was always fun, Arms was a pvp oriented class and I used like that, period. Now they played out a different landscape with the specs, even making arms stupidly strong at first. I kept being Fury because I had fun playing with it, and I had the luck to obtain the Ayala's Stone Heart so my dps was rlly good despite of the reality of the class. Now I laugh to everyone to said that Fury was garbage and that they wouldn't buff it in the near future, and I keep kicking their asses hahahahah. Good video bro, it rlly shows the frustration of today warriors, in PVP we can't do shit against some classes, when in the past we always could have a thing or two to make a comeback. i am so relieved that they fixed furt warriors since the release of legion. ive played fury/prot since cata and to see how they destroyed fury at the start of the xpac was heartbreaking because they died SO QUICKLY and had VERY LITTLE self healing.
As i prot main i prefer using the bracers over the belt the amount of healing it provides is insane (useally about 20-30% of my self healing in a boss fight)
You are 100% right about how arms feels. Who decided it was a good idea to make the most important ability of the rotation RNG based?! It’s literally like playing a slot machine

I started playing during cata and my main was always a warrior...until 7.1.5... Overall I just don't like how any of the 3 specs play. I have been fighting rerolling for all of legion but the changes in 7.1.5 especially those to prot have finally made me reroll. I am honestly still quite sad about moving away from my warrior but it just isn't fun for me anymore. I know a lot of my friends who play warriors have also rerolled for the same reasons.
i like enh shammy but i think they need buff stormstrike dmg a bit or more chance to proc

I love devastator. It is really fun to use, always doing so much damage and you get so much rage. I think its not very good when it comes to survivability. I have done a few 15-16 keystones and some of heroic NH and I feel too squishy when using it. Maybe I am using it wrong, idk.
I used to play arm warrior a lot and love it a lot. But now in Legion, I just can't get use to the focus rage build, so I quit.
I am glad focused rage got removed i never used it on my bar. Yeah the dmg is nice but it relied on rage that i could be using on ignore pain or shield blocks. I found it a little clunky because it stacked but the timer was short on how long it was up.
I agree with your assessment of warriors. I've only seriously played my warrior. Dabbled in a couple other classes but warr has been my toon of choice since MoP.
Fury has always been my fav spec. And Fury is in a awesome spot right now when it comes to raiding. Very dynamic when going from single target to aoe.
You are 100% Spot on. I switched to fury this week coming from arms with a lvl48 weapon. The rng drove me crazy... A spec is broken if the trinket proc dmg is one of the top dmg skills in your rota. Even with only 20% haste I'm doing great dmg, and it's consistent!
That is really scary what you said, that they might nerf Fury. I do NOT WANT to go back to arms warrior (which won't get any rewamp till the end of the expansion). I am so pissed off already to have put so many traits into arms before switching to fury. Fury is just so much more fun to play, switching target isn't penalizing, it just feels good. Arms just so bad. So so bad. I really loved warriors, thanks god fury is here to make it fun.

What exactly is penalizing with switching targets? And do you mean completely switching them or within the vicinity of your aoe skills?
As arms switching targets when you don't have CS up = doing no damage.
I don't care if arms is better. I'm staying fury, it's simply a more fun class.

arms needs a heal other than the one we have thats a part time heal.would be nice to have something like hunters or rogues, one def CD and one solid heal.

I play arenas a lot against arms warriors and all i got to say is it's like it wears paper armour I've bursted a arms warrior to death in 6-8 seconds as my WW monk it's kinda sad because arms seems cool to play
Agree 100% on state of arms warrior. I held out as long as possible playing an overpower+opportunity strikes build, but it started to really lag behind and went FR. Total garbage to play and I'd have switched to fury if I wasn't so deep into arms artifact.

I've been playing Fury since Legion launched just because I thought it was a lot of fun. I agree with a lot of what you said. The biggest thing I want blizzard to do is make inner rage inherent in the mechanic of Raging Blow and just rework that talent entirely to promote diversity in that tree. I would like to point out that ravager for prot has some good viability in aoe heavy situations as the parry chance means more resets for revenge and can lead to some real highs for burst aoe for prot.
i made a warrior recently just completed the compaign with him and got 3rd relic slot, 858 arms warrior, arms sucks right now... wont know how good till im at least 890 though.
What's fury second best leg
This is the first expansion since I've played where I didn't even bother to fully level my warrior. The second in a row that I didn't main him. You're absolutely right. Arms is abysmal.
I have seen from my play time on my warrior characters while they have been few this expansion as I had been looking to try out a new class and a new view. Unfortunately I went with warlock when the expansion launched and then quickly had to rebound and level something else. Which kind of sucks since I so much love the warlock class hall quests those are the most interesting I've seen this expansion so far on the classes I've played though Legion that is.. at least from my tastes plus being able to get the character called Nether Lord is so cool :D.
Yet from my experience with warrior I have seen they moved all the DPS survivability items onto the Arms spec. So I find I play that spec when I need the survivablity for taking less damage or the pocket heals for when out and about doing things solo. Yet for straight damage output I keep leaning to Fury as when the gear increases there is a sizable difference especially since Fury is now all Titan's Grip. Yet my main experience with this version of the warrior is mainly the lower level on and not at max level.

You hit the nail on the head with Devastator. Most players dont really understand just how strong devastator really is. The damage and defensive benefits far outweight indomitable in many situations in my opinion. Obviously indomitable is still a very strong, useful talent but i feel the class really starts to shine when played with devastator.

Yea man but fresh meat is a dps talent and second wind is healing/survival, so can never replace one with the other.
What you really want is for second wind to exists either baseline or in some survival talent choice-which is cool, and for MAYBE fresh meat changed to be something competitive.
I say maybe cus i find that after you have 2 viable options in a row you dont really WANT a 3rd viable one, cus then you have to think too much for when you must swap talents, and just thinking about all the extra times you have to sim your char and all the extra gear sets you must carry if all 3 talents are viable is a nightmare-and im sure blizz knows it so you will almost always see 1 or maybe 2 out of 3 viable options only every row.
Wotlk arms warrior was my favorite in my opinion. overpower proccing off rend, horrible 9% chance to have execute usable at any health. Was grand.
Also, I think if they made Colossus smash cost 60 rage and mortal strike, slam, overpower generated rage, it would be a fun rotation, sort of like fury but I feel it works.
i think they should give prot warri something to mitigate the huge amounts of magic dmg in legion. Also a better playstyle something between the current 2 options
In arena maybe their not that fun but their good fury has amazing self heals with the charge heal and can one shot more often than over classes with the short CDs

But the thing I don't get is that i can't get past 200k DPS as Prot warrior, although I'm ilvl 900. I don't have gloves or belt(to combine with booming voice), but I don't think it means much in terms of 100k difference( usually, warriors with this gear do like 300-330k dps). I even use DPS potions(those which repeat your attacks) and try to track my rotation, but still can't get it. Maybe it's because i don't have a lot of mastery on my gear? I have around 10% versatility though. Any guesses, anyone? This really hit me when we were trying mythic Krosus.

I tanked on Warrior from classic until about Wrath but stopped playing to pursue a career in Shadowcraft. I just picked the class back up again and I've gotta say I like how Protection feels now, though other people might argue with me on that fact, as Asmongold says, that's just my opinion.
I've never really played Fury Warrior but wanted to DPS in my off time away from raid so I've been tinkering with it but haven't really got it to it's max potential. With the changes that Asmongold suggested, I'm able to pump out way more damage than I was before. So, cheers.
I totally agree with you Asmongold, when i started playing legion in patch 7.1 I found arms to be enjoyable atleast until I realized how much better fury is and how much more active playing fury feels. As arms with focused rage i feel like im rage starved 24/7 and basically hit 1 button (slam + focused rage macro) constantly and 5 other buttons here and there. The worst thing about it was how much rng was involved with the class.... sometimes you get the tactician procs often times you dont. Same thing with focused rage, building up three stacks of it and then not criting feels so bad. Overall arms is too dependent on battle cry as it is the only time you're able to deal somewhat significant dmg while other classes have out-dps'ed you by a landslide.
P.S this my Opinion dont take it to serious

helloyou807 Stick it out like a true arms warrior and pray for changes. Unless you have tons of time and the proper itemized gear to swap to fury then probably go to that if your trying to progress. As for me I'm casuallly playing arms but am being used for OT mostly cus groups don't generally want an arms in high mythic +
As someone who has played warrior since BC, I love the feel of fury right now. but RIP arms. FeelsBadMan bring back 5.1-5.4 warriors :(

i REALLY would love to see a intervene/safeguard build.. where we can spec into 3 talents. and also have the legendary chest. and be Ping-Ponging around, giving people shields and being more a support tank
God I hope a blizzard employ watches this because I totally agree with all of it. I hate the focus rage talent so much.
I think Bladestorm needs a huge buff and should be baseline for Fury same with Bloodbath, both of those to me are the perfect spec fantasy abilities

Strictly a dungeon prot warrior (no raiding) and I tried indomitable in mythic and mythic+. For me, it doesn't matter which difficulty, I just can't get it to work. I'm always rage starved no matter what my rotation is ... It's just so obnoxious ... Devastator IMO is almost mandatory because you are just swimming in Rage, you'll always have shield block up and when combined with Vengeance, you'll always have full IP bubbles. Not to mention my DPS is great for a tank. Devastator all the way.
