Another great video! I always look forward to seeing your next adventure. Thanks for taking us with you.
b williams Glad you enjoyed it B and thank you very much for watching. I look forward to seeing my next one as well. Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.
Again you amaze me and amuse me finding humor in a lightening storm and waiting it out under a poncho. Again I enjoyed one more of your videos and your narration and laughter. Your videos are such a refreshing novelty. Thank you. Oreline
Got to have fun while you're out there no matter what's happening, or at least try.... Glad to hear you enjoy them!!!!! Thanks for the great comment!
Good video! What you forget and get along without you really don't need. Glad you had fun.
kycanoe camper I appreciate that kycanoe! That's exactly right to some degree lol. Thanks for the comment and for watching.
I really like you're kayaking videos. I just got my first kayak. You make kayak camping seem simple. Thanks for your video.
William Reape Thanks William! I'm glad you like them. It really can be pretty simple, you don't need much. A couple things I really enjoy about kayak camping vs backpacking is #1 you don't have to carry the weight on your back and knees up hills and over rocks and #2 when you can you are always at a water source to rinse yourself and things at camp.... Hope you get a chance to see how simple it can (and can't) be soon! Thanks for the comment.
Great Video again.. You are Very lucky to live around such a cool place. Thanks for sharing your adventures. Can't wait for the next ones.
Thanks Fog! I'm am very blessed, no doubt! Thanks for watching and dropping a comment!
The jetties and wall you snorkeled at is an awesome spot on the beach to fish. The bridge is really good too. All you need is about a 2 ounce weight, decent sized hook, and some shrimp or any type of live bait
Maybe if I didn't like swimming in the water so much I'd do some more fishing.... I need to make fishing more of a priority! Thanks for the tips!
lol "sideways rain from forrest gump" bro u are the funniest kayakier i know lol your vids are amazing, you inspired me to get into kayaking, just got a new perception sea kayak and im lovin it.
+valuelessfawn6 Ha! Glad you enjoy it! Great yak, great company! Hope you enjoy your time on the water. Just make it happen, you will not regret it.....
Love these ocean camping vids, keep it up!!!
+Luke Pac Thanks Luke! I really enjoy the beach trips as well. I typically wait till the weather/water warms up to head down that way. Going on the next adventure tomorrow for a 3-day trip in the Dead Lakes of Florida. Should be posting updates on the Facebook page! Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment bud! Hehe. That crab was like hey this one is mine find your own Trip.
He was greedy....
Great video- Looks like a fun adventure.
I wanted to give a tip to all the viewers who would love to do a sea kayaking camping trip but feel they can not afford a Sea Kayak. I did not have $1000 or more to throw down for a sea kayak so I built my own out of plywood for less than $200. It looks killer, paddles really well and you can store tons of gear in it. I used a design from Glen-L but there are others.
Thanks again for sharing the cool trip!
Thanks Juan! You built your own sea yak? Awesome! I build a sailing dinghy once, was fun but took quite some time. I imagine a yak would be a bit easier but still time consuming. I picked mine up on Craigslist for a little bit more than you paid in materials.
Glad you enjoyed it, you should make a video of your yak, I'd love to see it!
That was an awesome adventure. Thanks for sharing with us.
Adventure Outdoors Thanks Steve! Glad you're watching! It sure was a good time. Headed back down to another area on the coast in 2 weeks for another adventure and going to be focusing on catching and cooking something to eat. Very professional videos you are putting out. When are you going to share the secret to getting companies to send you products to review? lol
I was jealous the whole time watching this video, what a great area for adventure. Thanks for the compliment. From time to time companies send me stuff, not a lot, and I don't think there is any secret. I think if you start doing product reviews, you will be noticed. Here's the thing though, you will have a lot more time and value into a production than the product is usually worth. Financially, it doesn't always make sense. :) Keep the awesome vids coming.
Adventure Outdoors I gotcha. Yea, there definitely is a lot of time spent in production/editing making it senseless lol. I imagine like you, I enjoy helping people enjoy things and if I can get a few cool things on the way to share all the better.
Great video! I especially enjoyed the underwater shots of all the marine life. Looking forward to the next one.
+James G Thanks James! Should have my latest adventure up maybe Tuesday I'm hoping. It's been a crazy week for me and I've worked on it for about 10 minutes so far (out of probably 6 hours needed lol) Tomorrow I hope to get a lot of the editing done.
That island is one of my favorite places to paddle on our yearly trip to Orange Beach. I can't believe you camped there! I like to paddle over with a few cold ones and a small beach chair, and just sit and people watch.
Good spot for sure!
Another great video....I have in the past 8 months gotten into primitive camping, backpacking, and 2 overnight kayak camping trips (used an outfitter, rented the kayaks) - and I am hooked....the solo trips you do, I have to try some solo stuff....ive never done it...it sounds pathetic, but I am both excited about the idea of it and nervous.
+Bhamlunker Thanks Lunker! Nothing to a solo trip. Its a great experience, just get out there and go for it my man!
I just discovered your videos and I have watched several of them already. I love your videos and look forward to watching many more in the future. Thank for all the great content!
Awesome! Glad you enjoy the video! Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy the future!
I watched when you broke open the hermit crab. If you are going to use it as bait, use the squishy part on the tail. I use the tails of crabs as bait a lot and it works very good most of the time. The fish do not want to eat the claw part, but they will usually be all over the soft tail. Keep up with the videos!!!
Ah ok. Thanks for the tip Mason!!!! I'll remember that one. Comment appreciated.
No problem!
Well my first Kayak was a Feel Free MOKEN 12.5 it was adventuresome I bought it when there was still ice on the lake I was so excited to get out on the water I saw a 20 foot gap of open water about 100 yards long in freezing temps and the rest of the lake was frozen solid I didn't have a dry suite just a jacket and a PFD the adventure was on and wont end what a sport.
Haha! That's quite a way to start kayaking! Love it.....
What's up from Texas! I laughed at the part when you said, "ah cramp!" We were out about 1.5 miles offshore doing some kayak fishing and I got a nasty cramp in my leg; the worst timing ever! subbed bro, cool vids.
Whats up Adam! Yea, sometimes they come upon you and you've got to go with it. Glad you enjoyed the videos and thanks for subscribing!
Sweet, I got to see the inaugural run of the, gear line.
I just got a kayak for my birthday and these videos are making so excited to get out there
Awesome Bill! Hope you have a chance to get out there often.
Great video! Really enjoyed you really enjoying yourself.
Thanks Jim! Glad you enjoyed my enjoyment! lol Thanks for watching and commenting.
Loved the vid man! Just as good as the Choc river adventure.
Keep it up!
Awesome! Glad you did. I'm planning another now for 3 weeks from now. Thanks for watching and commenting!
For the last 6 hours I have been researching the best underwater camera, came across your review for the Olympus Tough that you use. That video lead me to watch more...your adventures...I really enjoyed watching them. I must say you sold me on buying an Olympus, I'll be getting the new TG-870. I too plan on documenting my adventures with it, seriously you are awesome! I will keep watching and get tips from your videos. So keep 'em coming....haha -Thank you!
+PurpleSoCKsPoLLy Glad you came across me Polly! It's a pretty good camera, but like I said could be improved but it's the best option I can find at the time.... Enjoy you adventures and thanks for subscribing!
Happy to tag along as a camera man sometime! Great videos man, I think I've watched them all now.
Thanks for the offer Andrew! I'm tryting to figure out a way either to setup a good system for a cameraman or to just work harder doingit by myself... Never know, I might need some help sometime ;)
I'm watching your video, Ignite Dress Rehersal. I wonder if you could point me to a resource to learn more about "alistakeley"? lol
HAHA oh God, I didn't even realize this was on my account. I actually own a marketing agency and we do high end video production. My channel with videos from back in the day doesn't do me justice. Check out my site if you get a few minutes: www.beefymarketing.com
;) There are always some things we forget about, I'm there to bud lol Oh wow! I just checked you out and I must say, very very impressive! I mean some high end stuff indeed. You're doing it right.
I get folks saying they'll tag along often, but most of them aren't up to your level.
You follow much GaryVee? I've been addicted for the past month or so and it's really helped me hustle.
Love your videos! I'll be looking forward to camping, along with my kayaking, in the future.
+StreamWeaver Gal Thanks Gal! Camping while kayak adds a whole new element of enjoyment. Hope you get out there for an overnight soon! Just got back yesterday from a 3-day trip. Should have the video up Friday. Thanks for watching and commenting!
you are the best very nice video keep them coming, thanks
+Rodolfo Hernandez Thanks Rodolfo! I appreciate you watching my videos. Thanks for the comment.
I love your little adventure
+badlongon Glad you enjoyed it!!! Thanks for the comment!
+SailingandSuch I thank God for finding your videos. I got to see the nice places you've been too and how creative you are. I'm jealous, actually. Hahaha
:0 Thanks!
Nice trip report. Loving those crystal clear waters and all the sealife there, just plain awesomeness compared to what we have here in Finland. I wanna see more of that! Subbed.
Ajaton Hey there Ajaton! That's exactly what I love too! Thanks for the sub, I won't let you down. My next trip should be to a more remote area and I plan on trapping some crab and hopefully catching some fish and doing some campfire cooking! All in beautiful beaches and waters! Thank you again!
Great video!! Great adventure! we wait another video soon..
"What i'm doing? -Making memories"
Thanks for share!!
Silvio López Lol Memories it was indeed Silvio! Thanks for the watch and comment! Hopefully I'll find some time for another video soon!
That was awesome thanks for sharing.
shane newsome Thanks Shane! You have some pretty interesting videos yourself. Should have a new one in about 3 weeks. Headed down to another part of the coast the weekend of the 22nd this month.
man, these first kayak vids r cool
+Don Thanks Dan!
I like ur new stuff but when its jus u and the camera and nature ,they r what I like,i work the water to feed my familyand its its very rewardin, but u remind me what it is really about
You are making me want to buy a kayak! Fun trip although I could do without lightning storms.
+Strapper Nicks Awesome Strapper! I just finished a trip this past weekend down a river. Had good time with some fun rapids and portaging around a dam. The video should be up Thursday around lunch I hope. Maybe it will convince you to take the plunge. Great deals can be found on Craigslist ;) Thanks for the comment, my goal is to inspire so I appreciate your words.
I have this video a thumbs up the second you pitched the hammock in the tree! You rock, Trip!
+Dorraine Stanley Haha thanks Dorraine!
Great video bro......( collateral damage) had me rolling......hope to see more soon!!!
Derrick Duncan Ha! Yea, I was rolling when I first noticed it and I had been walking all through it the evening/night before..... Hope to make more soon, thanks for watching!
SailingandSuch lol I'll be your camera guy!!!! Sounds like fun
Thanks Derrick! Oh it certainly would be!
I seen your HGTV commercial. What's that all about?
A while back someone from a casting agency found my videos and contacted me about hosting a HGTV show. So it was part of the auditioning process that I make them a few videos and that was one of them. Didn't get the gig but it was cool anyhow. I'd really enjoy doing something more outdoorsy than HGTV though...... Like a random adventure show!
Great video. Love the small adventures. Inspiring me to take some around here. I just started kayaking. Have not tried an over night trip yet. Can't wait.
+Joe McCranie I appreciate it Joe. That is my main intention, to inspire others to get out and enjoy. An overnighter is great fun compared to a day trip. I'm heading back out to the coast this weekend for some more filming and adventure. Be sure to check back maybe next Friday for another video trip!
I for sure will keep up with your adventures. Love your attitude when something happens. You never complain..lol...you just say.."Its an adventure". If I ever get a chance to get that way, I'll have my kayak with me and we can hit the water.
Sounds great Joe! A good attitude goes a long way when things go sour. Even farther when things go good!
Great video Trip !!! Orange Beach is a beautiful area, I hope when you are able to plan an adventure with Ty and Theresa , 30 miles out that you get to do a camp and offshore kayak fishing video !!!! (Get Out There ) always an adventure outdoors !!!! Danny
Oh yea man, its gorgeous down there for sure. It would be fun to do a camping and fishing trip with them for sure! Get Out There!
Love the kayaking videos dude. Im picking up my wilderness systems ATAK 140 tomorrow. You should look into sit on top kayaks they are much more comfortable in long long run. I fish 8+ hours on Saturdays and couldn't take my old yak anymore and decided to upgrade. Also your kayak camping list and videos were excellent! I'm looking to do a 3 day on the Delaware river and you answered many questions I have had. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 -Chris (New Jersey)
rockanrollrudy Sweet Rudy! Glad you enjoyed them! You should enjoy your new ride for sure. I'm choosing the sit-inside kayaks for a few reasons. The touring types I have are typically a good bit faster to paddle, more protected storage area for all the gear in the storage compartments, typically lighter yaks so I can handle/hide them better lol. I have had and have access to a few sit on tops but I prefer my sit ins still. Depending on what you're doing with the kayak they each have their pros and cons. Good luck with your trip, I'm sure you'll have a blast. I'm headed back down to the Gulf again to a different area than my last video. Going next weekend and planning on really trying to catch crabs and fish to cook over the fire. Be sure to check back for the new video in a couple weeks (takes me a while to edit them). Thanks for watching!
I have a little 12 foot arch davis sailboat row oat was trying to plan a similar trip with it
Rules For Rebels Now that would be a great little boat for something like this! Give it a shot man.
I'm in chicagoland so we don't have any real cool areas like you have but I've seen some youtube videos of people doing camping trips down the illinois river. Thanks for the motivation
I gotcha. Give the Illinois River a shot, can't hurt. Glad to motivate you! Hope you get out there soon!
Love your gear hanging system.
Glad you like it! I love it! If you're interested, I've got some kits put together if you'd like to make your own. Its cheaper than buying the stuff yourself since you pay shipping and prices for bulk on some of the items. Here it is if you're interested - sailingandsuch.com/product/ss-gear-hanger-kit/
Enjoyed watching!
atycolo Thank you! Thank you! Thanks for taking the time.
Another great video.
BirdSpy Aus Thank you, thank you! I've have plans to make another one two weeks from now. It's going to be another beach trip but hopefully focusing more on catching some sort of critter to cook over the fire! Crabs, fish, scallops, etc. So you can figure three weeks till the video might be posted.
This video was so awesome to see on my subscriptions. I live in orange beach al and I'm always on the water. I bet I was out and saw you but didn't notice you. But that's awesome!! (Btw: people camp on Robinson island all the time) there was tons of more places you should've visited down here! Looked like tons of fun, I'll probably do it myself sometime.
John Taylor Oh how cool John! Would have been cool to have run into you for sure. Good to know that I wasn't breaking the law. Tons more cool places to visit???? What are some examples? For future trips......
Lots of more restaurants you could've gone to and if you were staying longer there is a lot of more cool camping spots. After seeing this video I'm gonna try to do something similar to this. Great inspiration!!
Oh, BTW, i was down at that exact point and a local kayak fisherman told me to be particularly carefull at Perdido. He said it has a particularly heavy concentration of sharks (chum from charter boat cleaning fish)
Oh wow lol. Never saw any...
looks so nice
It was excellent!
Great Adventure Trip ! You must be livin right ! =) *cheers* !!!
+Lloyd McGriff Thanks Lloyd! I'm trying ;)
Enjoyed. Very entertaining and well done. Might think about a Hennessy Hammock. It's designed for light travel but has an incorporated bug screen. Love mine. Take it horse camping and on cycling trips.
Cynde Aaron Thanks Cynde! Yea, I've looked at the wide variety of hammocks out there but at the time I think I prefer my home-sewn one. May try one one day though, thanks for the suggestion! I'm really glad you enjoyed my video though. I've got another trip planned back down to the coast in a couple weeks. Be sure to check back for another exciting video. Going to try and focus on catching some fish and/or crabs to cook over the campfire. Thanks again!
MY ex and me canoe camped on a freshwater island. Discovered geese also camp there at night. Needless to say ear plugs are essential equipment in the hammock gear. :)
Lol I've been on an island before that was covered with geese during the day. It was covered with their poop.....
Man, geese are a noisy bunch at night.
SailingandSuch you probably don't know this but putting your reel in the salt water like that is terrible for the rod. Corrosion will start up inside and it seizes up. 😂😂
I was working on a charter boat this summer and you were right beside the marina I was working at
+Jake Trout That's awesome man. Beautiful place.
ah yea dude, Robinson Island. i live right there beside sportsman marina. this is awesome man
Oh cool! Gorgeous spot to live....
The Forrest Gump reference was priceless.
+Joshua Thacker Indeed! One of the best movies of all time.
rainin outside, hmmmm, lets do a kayak campin marathon oooh yea
+Don Sounds like a good plan Don!
finally a new video
XxGrantlsuxX I know Grant, your telling me! If I could get away from life a bit more I'd have them much more often. I get away as much as life allows, but I want more! Thanks for the comment.
Your welcome. Don't we all wish we could have as much free time as we want
nice trip..tums up !. try carry some mangoes and pineapple slices are very good for energy and sweet bost specialty for salt water environment ... thank for share ..
Thanks Alex!!! That sounds really good, I love mangos! Good tip, you may see them in the future! Thanks to you!
you will enjoy it.. people like you inspire other to do great things.. keep paddling!! also I do woodworking and getting some tips from your woodworking videos too...jejej
I hope that is what happens, people get inspired. I'll keep the camera rolling. Glad you enjoy the woodworking as well, haven't posted on of those is quite some time.
Brilliant video, it looked a really nice area, next year I'm going to do a trip like it but unfortunately Ireland doesn't have good weather
keith elliott Thanks Keith! I bet you'll enjoy your trip rain or shine. Thanks for the comment and for watching.
Btw you might want to look into purchasing an Aussie or Rain shower. It collects rain water and you got a nice shower when it's full.
Might be a good option.... Thanks for the suggestion!
Awesome vid man. I lived about half a mile from where you were the whole time I kayaked to the same places as well besides the pass. Those thunder storms are fun aren't they. If you do something around there again I definitely want to check it out and hope I can do something like that in the future. I've got a fishing videos in that area as well.
+Buck creek Oh, thats cool man, what a great place to live. Yea, they are a blast no doubt! Well, I'd say check me out on Facebook (SailingandSuch), I typically post where I'm headed to and I see myself coming back down there next summer since it was such a great place. I checked out a few of your videos. Nice editing, keep it up.
I appreciate it thanks!!
Yea buddy!
awesome love your video!
Thanks Dennis! Glad you enjoyed it!
I like your marpat camo hammock. I have a Hennessy expedition a-sym hammock, hopefully be using it this year on a kayak camping trip in Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada.
+Mike 1969 Thanks Mike! I sewed if up, along with my tarp. I hear a lot of good things about the Hennessy hammocks... I'd like to check one out one day. Hope you get to put that bad boy to some good use!
Yep, have a week booked in August for Arrowhead Provincial Park in northern Ontario. Thanks!
Aw wow! Going to be a good week!
i hope so (weather-wise) lol
Love you videos
You're yak seems to track very well. Is that a result of the boat design or your paddling skills? Oh and lots and lots of jelly fish out in the gulf of PCB today as I tried out my yak there for the first time. I am really surprised we didn't have purple flags up. The swimmers didn't seem to notice them, perhaps they were staying out closer to the second sand bar where I was paddling around. Love your stuff, you have truly inspired me. Keep these vids coming, I am learning a ton from you!
I'd say the design of the touring kayak more so than my skills for sure lol Sometimes there can be tons of jelly fish and sometimes they aren't the stinging kind fortunately. Glad to hear you've been inspire to get out there bud! Enjoy the time on the water!!!!
Did y'all see the bird behind trip when that first bolt of lightning hit. He puckered up too! Lol!
We all puckered up lol
Great video
+Surrender Music Ministries Thank You, Thank You!
Great vids!
+kookyuke Thanks Kookyuke! I appreciate you watching.
Hmm, jelly fish and tide currents. Those are certainly out of my comfort range. Lightning... This vid had quite a few points of risk to it.
Haha, yea that was an exciting trip. I really enjoyed it once the storm was gone. Sometimes you have to venture out of your comfort range just a little bit. I just try to do it as "smartly" as possible....
I would love to come kayak the south. I live and kayak up in the Pacific Northwest (Seattle region) People do go kayak camping here but the water is usually too cold to swim in.
I'd also like to travel up there sometime in the future. Swimming is a very enjoyable part of it for me no doubt. Maybe you'll have an opportunity to come down this way one day. Make it happen!
Man you are a trip 😭😭😭good videos I have been watching over the last few days a cast net and pinch weights would do you wanders brother +sailingandsuch
+Randall Porteous Ha! Thanks Randall! Glad I'm able to keep you entertained and wanting to come back.. A cast net is on my to buy list for this summer. I've always wanted to try one! What are pinch weights?
Legend has it this video was made exactly one year ago ;)
The Legend is true! Headed out again tomorrow down to the gulf coast for another good one. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Orange beach has a lot of Jellyfish
+The Cousins It did this time for sure!
Trip, how do you carry water when you camp on a saltwater island? Also, I watched your overnight soak-everything video and have a few suggestions. First, in addition to the hard-to-open-and-close Space Blanket, there is a sturdier, easy open, easy fold 4' by 8' Space blanket with grommeted corners. Second, if you get some polypropylene pants and shirt from Walmart, they won't absorb water, will drip out and dry fast. Finally, when you include still photos overlaid on your videos, don't pump up the color intensity. They will look a lot more natural. And if you own certain Apple iphones, check REI to see a sturdy, completely waterproof enclosure for those phones. Makes them kind of like a GoPro Hero. (I hate that name. ) I've done very little sea kayaking, mostly whitewater, where I always use a sprayskirt and a life jacket.
Various ways. Water bottles and water bladders typically. Hey thanks for the suggestions Gary! Good thinking.
Look up a product called fishbites. They're a good bait to bring to just about any body of saltwater. Put a tiny piece on a tiny hook and you should get something! Love the beach videos!
+WV RiverRat Fishbites, sounds good to me! Thanks for the suggestion. Headed back down to the beach soon (last week of this month) for another adventure. Bought a cast net and have been practicing with it and I hope to catch some live bait to fish with.... We will see how it goes!
+SailingandSuch castnet is the way to go!
Yea buddy!
Did you ever get an official rule on camping on Robinson Island? We paddle board inside the pass regularly. Put in on Cotton Bayou. I was thinking about maybe a little stealth camping with my girls. Thanks for the inspiration.
Ummmm, I think it's frowned upon. Take it at your own risk ;)
And for a tip I like to use live or dead shrimp in the saltwater. The fish there destroy them. I live in Florida🔅🔆
+Elijah Yates Gotcha, I'll have to give that a shot.
man I can't tell you how long it's been since I've found something like this that I love to do! I just bought me my first kayak and I also am down here in the Panhandle in Santa Rosa County just off the bay. We are always going down 2 Navarre and Fort Walton beaches along Pensacola and such. I am looking forward to going down Blackwater River and the surrounding area Rivers here locally. I am so up for these Adventures you are taking! I know you mentioned it would be awesome to have a cameraman on some of these Adventures you film and I would totally be up for trying a cameraman Adventure out... although I don't have real camera man experience I bet it could be an extraordinary trip and Anything could happen! Lol
Oh.... yes I also admit to binge watching your videos for a couple of hours before work every morning. LOL it keeps me in the adventure spirit! can't wait to get out there again soon. I have been trolling around in my kayak in the Navarre sound quite a bit lately! what a beautiful area we live in!
+Jason Gross Thanks for the awesome comment Jason! Glad you've found the great adventures of kayak camping! It really is a great place we live in, no doubt.
I would consider a camera man and I've been thinking about it lately. Not sure if it's the thing to do or not, but if I did I'd like it to be someone with experience. I hope you understand.
I do plan on hosting a trip with an open invitation to all S&S fans though and you are more than welcome to join up for that one. Not sure when and where it will be as of yet but I'd like to do it sometime in the near future. Yes, anything can and will happen when I'm around, fortunately/unfortunately lol
Binge watching? Ah no worry there. There are much worse vices out there for sure. Thanks for commenting and watching. Should have a new video up hopefully Sunday or Monday of my trip down to Pensacola a couple weeks ago.
+SailingandSuch . absolutely I understand. LOL just threw it out there. :-) yeah I would love to do a meet with all your fans! that would be awesome!
Good deal, hope you are able to make it!
Hey was your car still there when you got back? Great videos.
Yep! It was there! Thanks Double, I appreciate that.
You need to be wearing a life jacket. Another thing is, be sure that you incorporate your torso when you paddle. It reduces fatigue on the arms and shoulders. Hugs!
Both good tips for sure. I should wear my PFD more than I do.... Hugs back at ya!
i wanna kayak in the ocean so bad, im stuck to just doing the provo river and utah lake, imma do a trip to california and maybe kayak there
+valuelessfawn6 Do it! You only live once!
Another great video! My wife and I enjoy watching your videos. I'm from Mobile Alabama originally and definitely noticed your accent. I wonder if there are any sea snakes out in the Gulf? That and sharks would really be my only concern out where you were, but looks like you came back alive! :)
MochaMax Griffin Thanks Max! It tickles me know that you both enjoy watching, really! Accent? What accent? lol I don't know, I haven't seen any, only down in the Keys have I seen them. Sharks are really my only concern but as long as I'm not doing something dumb (swimming early or late in the day or in murky water) I'm not all that worried, but it is in the back of my head.... Only live once! Thanks for watching!
Liked your trip a lot. Good filming. Still trying to wrap my head around you eating cold Dinty Moore stew, thanks for not eating cold Spam. You should consider getting a stove.
+Mea Woodsman Thanks Mea! I appreciate that. Cold Dinty Moore? lol Just wait till my latest adventure gets posted.... I would like to get a small wood burning stove, that's one of my future purchases for sure.
+Mea Woodsman well spam not really advised ,i'm still learning to do beef jerky on my dehydrator, easy to carry, also small can of veg. and snack, for the water should carry in bottom of kayak to keep it cool. beside he did a great video.
Beef jerky is great! I have made it a few times and I've tried deer and duck jerky as well with good results. One thing I really like to do is dehydrate bananas and apples to bring along. I'm editing my latest video right now and I bring some bananas and apples with me and they were a great treat and really easy as well. Thanks for watching and commenting Ronald!
+SailingandSuch I built an IKEA stainless steel wood burning stove for $3.00. It doesn't fold up, but I just pack stuff in the empty stove to save space. Something to consider if your on a budget.
+Mea Woodsman I do enjoy making my own gear... May have to looking into that. Thanks for the suggestion!
Just subbed man. Great channel!
+Yaknation Thanks bud! Hope you enjoy the future!
At 1:54 that's where I stayed. Whenever I go to the beach it's at orange beach
Fabulous spot!
LPS Crystal looks so nice
Always inspired to get out there when ating your videos. I havent ever been kayaking or paddle boarding. Which would you reccomend I buy? I live in North Florida and plan to paddle camp.
Glad you enjoy them! Inflatable paddle board ;) Seen this video? ruclips.net/video/IhNBGxzMoVM/видео.html
Please tell me you made crab cakes out of that blue crab. That was God telling u to make lemonade out of lemons my brother.
Crab cakes? I don't think I did any cooking in this video. In a few of my other coastal videos though I toss them on a little grill over the fire. They are DELICIOUS! Probably my favorite thing to catch/cook/eat. They are fairly easy and fun to catch, easy to cook (just toss them on the grill with no prep necessary) and just bust them open and eat up! Doesn't get much better.
I guess ya car didn't get towed..so that's good!
Hermit crab in a welk shell. Conch is protected in the US.
Ah, gotcha Christopher! Thanks for the info!
That was a great video!! I enjoy your videos a lot and you really captured the beauty of the area! (I live close to where you were) as always something crazy happened too
South Alabama Outdoorsman Thanks, I enjoyed making it and it makes me smile knowing people enjoy my videos. I did try a bit to capture the beauty of the area but not to bore people to much at the same time (it can be a fine line). I like when crazy happens most of the time! I appreciate you taking the time to watch, really I do.
Showed it to my dad too. We watched whole thing twice
South Alabama Outdoorsman Wow! That's awsome!
what shoes are you wearing? love the videos!
+Jance Mosley Thanks! Glad you enjoy them, should be another coming really soon, headed back out next week.
Those re Vibram Five Finger shoes. Really cool shoes that I had for many yeas and loved them.
Wanna tip on where the locals eat on a dime!
The Market @ The Wharf in Orange Beach Alabama .....Great pizza " By the Slice" no cost toppings, black angus burgers 1/2 the price of other places, chicken wings, burritos, breakfast country biscuits, bbq, hot dogs, frigid COLD Beer, wine, and much more!
I've heard of folks talk about that place. I need to hit it up!
Great video!! I love the finger waggle at the jellyfish haha. But short question, when did you start kayaking? Like what age?
+Jay Blue Thanks Jay! I started kayaking..... I guess technically at around 14? I'm 28 now. I haven't kayaked the entire time though and have only been kayak camping a year or so (since my first kayak camping video on the Choctawhatchee) and that was also my first time in a touring kayak. My outdoor and boating experience in extensive though. Lots of camping, sailing (25'er, 29'er, 17'er), spent a week solo in the Keys on my 17'er, decent amount of backpacking, plenty of hunting, plenty of fishing (fresh water), worked hard most of my life (construction), grew up on a horse/cattle farm playing in the woods constantly. I don't consider myself an expert outdoorsmen but I do consider myself experienced lol Thanks for asking! I think that would be a great question for a video!
Yeah, maybe you should do a Q&A at some point. But I just watched your solo Florida Keys trip, the famous thunderstorm trip and the crabbing trip with Alex. Your videos never cease to entertain me haha. I would really like to get into back packing and kayaking or canoeing in the future. I can kind of agree with you, I am only 14 but I love hunting, fishing not as much but yeah. Too bad I live in the city or I would be in the woods probally as much as you say you were!
Yea, I've thought about some sort of Q&A.... Not sure how I want to do it since I can be long winded.... Maybe a weekly Q&A with a few questions (3) in each video? I'll have to do some thinking on it.
Glad you are enjoying them man! I know I sure did. It's a great hobby to get into. I used to have several hobbies which spread me to thin. But now I'm focusing on Youtubing (adventures) and it's really enjoyable now that most all of my thoughts and efforts are dedicated to it.
I've been fortunate to live out of the city all of my life that I can recall..... You can get out there, don't give up.
Yeah, your Q&A idea sounds good. The once a week thing. Also my grandpa/grandma's place is in the country near here. We get up there usually once a week so maybe I can start talking to my dad about doing overnighters in the woods. My grandma would have a heartattack though! Haha
Ok, thanks for the input, may start doing that. That would be awesome man, I hope your dad goes for it. Don't worry about your grandma, I remember when mine first started learning that I was camping when I was probably your age we were camping behind the house. She was worried and we said the only thing out there really were coyotes. She said "Don't they have repellent for that?" We still joke about that today. Hope you get out there and if you have questions feel free to ask.
Did you ever find out if it was legal to camp on Robinson Island
+Surrender Music Ministries Sure did. It is. I spoke with the local game warden down there and he said as far as he knows it's fine to camp there. Go for it! Just be respectful of the land. :)
Thanks a bunch , I love your video's very helpful.
-Wes-
+Surrender Music Ministries You betcha!
Great video! I'm inspired!!! Is the island on which you camped an official camping spot or did you just sort of locate it on google earth? I'm in Baldwin County, AL and thinking that would make a great trip -- any permits needed? FYI: If you need some company on your next adventure count me in!
Carl Norman Thanks Carl, that is one of my goals! It is not an official camping spot but I have found out that people camp there often. I'm actually real good friends with the game warden in Baldwin County down there and he is the one that mentioned that people camp their often and as far as he knows there is no issues with camping there and no permits needed. Fortunately I didn't see any trash there so I guess if we (campers) want to keep camping there for free lets just keep it clean. Thanks for the offer for some company! I think one day I may line up a weekend and let a bunch of people know online and see if several people want to get together for a weekend trip.
Hey Trip,Love the videos. I' ve been watching for a long time. What happened to the adventure island? I'm from AL as well and love seeing this area. I thought you sold the Montgomery for the AI but haven't seen any more adventures on that boat. Were you disappointed?
GLad you enjoy them Jeff. The Island? I sold her a while back. I did sell the Montgomery for AI, then sold the AI for.... well I bought a couple of $300 yaks of Craigslist. Loved the AI, but it just isn't best suited for what I'd like to do, kayak camping. It's great for playing around for the day and things but just not as good for camping as a touring yak....
Are you using a sticky mount on your kayak or a yak attack mount
Yak Attack. CHeck out this video - ruclips.net/video/WF8zDxHq404/видео.html&lc=z13tytep3vmxvtalm23cz5xrlwb5vh3ov04
Cool video! I think I've watched most of yours. Any other good kayak/camping channels you can recommend?
Awesome Andy! Ummm, I haven't found any that I just absolutely love. I'm subbed to a couple kayak type channels but they don't really do adventures.... Just product reviews.....
There is one channel that has well done videos of camping/hiking national parks and a couple paddling trips. They have grade A editing. ruclips.net/user/AdventureArchives
Unfortunately/fortunately there is noone really doing what I'm doing.
Hermit crab in a conch shell....
Lol Yep!
did you sell the perception or still got her?-I just made a small gear hanger-6 hooks.
Sold her.... Awesome! Hope it turned out well and that you find it as useful as I do!
Nice, saying low sodium because I hate when my spam is salty
Kingmidget71 Oh yea! Just got back today from another trip down on the gulf coast. Finally ate that same can last night lol. Working on editing the video footage the next few days so be sure to check back for the new video. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Are you happy with your cressi snorkel set? Great videos btw!!
Oh absolutely. Love, plan on buying another one day when this one needs replacing. Had it for probably 6 years or more and replaced the snorkel once. Thanks!!!!
Hey my name is Elijah and I love your videos and your whole personality and lifestyle. I hope I could grow up like you! I was wondering if you could try to do trips in Louisiana! I would like you to see you wrestle a hog!
+Elijah Yates Thanks Elijah! I'd like to get to Louisiana one day, hopefully I will. Wrestle a hog? Sounds like fun!
Wear a vest , anything can happen. You could get struck by lighting or a drunk boater can swamp you.
What are you using to film your Camping trip?
I'm using the Olypmus TG 860 - amzn.to/2ed5w34
Works pretty well. It's the best fitting camera out there for filming my type of videos. I've got a GoPro but it just can't do what the Olympus can.... I've got a short video about it as well talking about why I use it - ruclips.net/video/_9Gkjl8Pn7Q/видео.html
