    Idk if the gulf regulations are different but on the east coast at least the mahi limit is 20 inches to the fork

    • @GulfCoastNation
      @GulfCoastNation  3 года назад

      Yes the gulf limits are different, no size limit here because we very very rarely get mahi bigger than the chicken dolphins 1-30 miles in

    What Size gas tank do you have ?? I have a 18ft bay boat with yamaha 115 and 38 gallon fuel tank. How much gas does yours take up?

    The talons have a manual retract. Not sure if you tried that or not. Just FYI in case you didn’t know.

    How do u feel about them cutting snapper season

    • @GulfCoastNation
      @GulfCoastNation  4 года назад +1

      Unfortunately nothing we can do about it. Once they meet the quota it is done!
      To be completely honest we hardly ever target red snapper unless we are just there. I would much rather a vermillion snapper (b-liner) or mangrove snapper (black snapper) over a red snapper. Just our personal opinion, I think the main reason there is hype behind snapper is because you cant have them all the time!
      Just like amberjack, we would prefer a lesser amberjack (almaco jack) over a greater amberjack all day! But the hype is because there is a season!

    • @GulfCoastNation
      @GulfCoastNation  4 года назад

      Table fare wise. Obviously a big red snapper fights better then a mangrove and a big greater aj fights better than a lesser

    • @colebaumgartner86
      @colebaumgartner86 4 года назад +1

      Gulf Coast Nation ya tbh bee liners taste better than red and almaco’s taste the same

      Its not the boat its the captain and crew! You want to be very comfortable with your vessel!

      I live in St Augustine and run out to 9 mile reef in my 2020 Mako pro 19 skiff . Went about 13 miles in 3 ft seas, no problem. Know your ocean conditions and when they may change and you will be fine. Have an EPIRB, anyone that goes out without one is a fool.

      That is awesome you're about to jump into a new boat! This 115hp is a 2011 and has done us very well but we are very sure to do the required maintenance to keep her happy! With our 20ft seafox with no gear and one person after a wax will go about 37mph on a flat day. Load down with gear and 2 guys on a flat day about 30-32mph and all that with some chop it will gonaboit 25-27mph and beat the daylights out of you!😬

      We were trolling at around 10knots with the nomad deep divers. We were trolling fast because we were wahoo trolling, which requires high speed trolling

    How much fuel and how long does it take to get out that far?

    • @GulfCoastNation
      @GulfCoastNation  4 года назад +1

      This would depend on quiet a few different factors like your boat size, Horesepower, GPH, and swell/ wind, BUT on this particular day, it took us an hour and maybe 5 min to get out to the spot and over the course of the day we burned 42 gallons of fuel.
