All BLM brings to a fight is that dps, they don't have true party support. So why are you getting mad at them doing their job? Maybe this is because I'm coming to this game from a WoW raiding mentality but mechanics assignments should always go to the class best equipped to handle them without taking a dps loss.

Lol I remember that. The references in xiv really caught me off guard with how versatile they were. Another one I distinctly remember was a Fate in north shroud called "smells like tree spirit", a reference to a nirvana song. ARR/1.0 was full of amazing references/puns.
I expected a lot of well-known BLM jokes (stand in AoEs, pull hate, blame others for losing Enochian, always wear black), but I should have known that you'd go above and beyond x) The moment you started shouting at people who dared to stand in your Ley Lines, I felt...so....understood ;-;

@@Sky-de7oy Haha, nah, they only buff the blackmage who set them down :) If someone else stands in them too, the only thing that goes up is the chance that an aoe will get targeted there which is, in the best case, annoying because the blackmage has to move and evade, or worst case, if it is a persistent aoe, they can't return to their leylines and the buff is wasted.

As a BLM main, there is nothing but truth in this video. Especially about Quelling Strikes (and even more so if there's a SMN) no matter what, I must assert my BLM dominance.
As a BLM Main, I'm kinda sad that they gave all of the other classes cool stuff in Shadowbringers. All we got was a second Polyglot stack and a slightly stronger single target Foul. On top of that, they took our one support skill away. I've saved the party several times because I could give some of my bottomless MP to the Healer in a pinch with Manashift.
@@Lord_Sunday Try being a Drk after Stormblood. Sustainability was _so damn good_ during SB, now it's not. Though the Drk specific mitigation (TBN to be specific) skills are hella nice, and Abyssal Drain _can be_ good if enough enemies are piled in on one another. Edit: Having Oblation is nice when Shadow Wall and TBN are on cooldown, and according to my FC healers it makes things easier for them when I pull wall to wall.
@@Winslow19 Drk will always be my favorite tank for dungeons, having an oGCD aoe in flood of darkness just makes speed pulling so much easier. Let out a normal GCD aoe as you first reach the pack and continue running through, jump spin 180 degrees let out a quick flood or abyssal drain, spin another 180 before landing and keep on trucking. Not only did you definitely hit everything, you probably hit most twice so you won't lose aggro while running to the next pack. So annoying when I'm tanking as a warrior or paladin and my aoe misses one or two people who run past me because a HoT or DoT pulls aggro. No good oGCD to quick recover. Or you land one AoE and keep running but a bard or machinist pulls aggro with their ability to do their full dps while moving.
I can just imagine how the scholar one will go... Larry: "You see this button, cleric stance, yeah... Keep that on all the time. Let eos be the main healer. Your a dps job
That's not what I'm seeing in dungeons however. "You see this button, cleric stance, take it off your hotbar, you are a HEALER for god sake. Eos will do most of the healing, which gives you time to stand still and admire yourself or watch movies or even go to the bathroom."
I kicked a SCH for doing literally nothing but letting Eos heal in Gubal normal before. Mind, we weren't really having too many problems, maybe a few close calls, but literally they just sat there. Not kidding. They just /sit.

The 59 rotation is basically a 50 rotation with spice but then the 60 rotation is completely different lol. They really messed up the learning curve on the HW BLM abilities. Still one of the easiest at 60, but for a while you look really bad with your shiny new 60 job.

i just got blackmage to 60 and i've been playing summoner as my main dps ( i only have healers leveled but i play smn because it leveled with scholar ) and omfg.... your videos talking about being a summoner and then switching to blackmage are just beyond real.... x_x it also made me understand a lot better why i've had to stoneskin and res so many blackmages in dun scaith as a healer main ( i also really like playing summoner since as a healer main/support main i really like using any chance i can to raise party members to take stress from healers )

I'm a bit old school. My go-to anime for Black Magery is Slayers. But I guess Konosuba is more recent and topical, and works well enough. Black Mage is all about big numbers for me. In raids I get Fire IV crits up to 17k. Though the numbers only have meaning in context of the game. In WoW, late in Cataclysm my Shadow Priest could do shadowburn crits for 600k on some fights. I wonder if Stormblood will see us getting into that territory...
Watching this to get an idea how ye olden Black Mage played in the far out year of 2017. God I wish it was just spam Fire IV nowadays, instead you have like 50 different gauges to look at and it hurts my brain.

i just got blackmage to 60 and i've been playing summoner as my main dps ( i only have healers leveled but i play smn because it leveled with scholar ) and omfg.... your videos talking about being a summoner and then switching to blackmage are just beyond real.... x_x it also made me understand a lot better why i've had to stoneskin and res so many blackmages in dun scaith as a healer main ( i also really like playing summoner since as a healer main/support main i really like using any chance i can to raise party members to take stress from healers )

I'm a bit old school. My go-to anime for Black Magery is Slayers. But I guess Konosuba is more recent and topical, and works well enough.
Black Mage is all about big numbers for me. In raids I get Fire IV crits up to 17k. Though the numbers only have meaning in context of the game. In WoW, late in Cataclysm my Shadow Priest could do shadowburn crits for 600k on some fights. I wonder if Stormblood will see us getting into that territory...
