Frieren is really special to me. I love the themes it covers, like cherishing the time you have with your loved ones, and the fighting animation didn't need to be such good quality, but it is. Past the second episode, there are no time skips as jarring as 50 years or 20 years, which kinda reflects Frieren's change in perspective since the death of her friend Himmel. The first four episodes were released together because Frieren gets her main objective in the fourth episode. Personally, I didn't know at the time, watched them separately and loved them anyway for the above mentioned themes. Fun fact, you mention Violet Evergerden and it turns out that the composer for Frieren, Evan Calls, also worked on Violet Evergarden's OST. I haven't finished VE but I think the emotions in that show are sharper, they "sting" a bit more that Frieren, which is focused on remembering the good times and celebrating the new good times you can make with the new people in your life (bittersweet but more sweet than bitter, as I like to say). In the end, I recommend watching it but I understand that it cannot be to everyone's tastes. It's altitude if you don't feel like watching the rest :)
It was really good at the end of the day but for me it was slow start and had little objectives so felt boring asf until i watched a spoiler edit from a fight of hers.. Its hilarious 🤣
