"The first time I ever really listened to Kyle Kulinski’s show was in the back of a cab last summer. The driver had his phone hooked up through the stereo and was pumping out an episode through the car speakers - loudly, as if looking to convert a captive audience.
“Do you like Kyle Kulinski?”
The driver, Ahmed, was a recent immigrant and apparently a die-hard fan of Secular Talk, the political talk show that Kulinski broadcasts on RUclips. I told him, yes, in fact. I do like Kulinski, had come across his show several years ago, and, all things considered, he seemed pretty good.
“He understands what we’re up against,” Ahmed said. “Like Bernie.”
But I was surprised to hear Kulinski’s name mentioned in the same breath as Bernie Sanders, particularly with such adoration. Because what I did remember about Kulinski’s show struck me as mostly capital-P “progressive” takes on the news - the left wing of the Netroots crowd more than the democratic socialism Sanders has popularized.
It’s an impression that wasn’t entirely incorrect.
“I have no time for philosophical, airy bullshit,” Kulinski tells me from his home in Westchester, New York. “I don’t want to hear about Lenin. I don’t want to hear about Marx. I just want a super plainspoken, straightforward agenda with a straightforward way of selling it.”
With over 800,000 subscribers and nearly 670 million total views on RUclips, selling a progressive agenda is clearly something Kulinski knows how to do - even Democracy Now, the long-standing flagship of progressive media, cannot match his reach on the platform. Chapo Trap House can certainly boast a wildly devoted fan base (and a not insignificant degree of media influence), but their audience is roughly half the size of Kulinski’s.
While Secular Talk might be more likely to be looped in with the progressive networks around Air America and Pacifica alums like Sam Seder than the more resolutely socialist world, Kulinski’s fiery rhetoric, razor-sharp class instincts, and knack for withering takedowns sets him apart from his peers. Judging by his rhetoric alone, he’s closer to a Eugene Debs than a Chris Hayes.
But unlike Hayes, Amy Goodman, or his friend Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks - who began airing Secular Talk on his web network seven years ago - the thirty-two-year-old Kulinski is virtually invisible in the mainstream media. Despite his enormous fan base, his show has never once been mentioned in the obligatory trend pieces on “the Millennial Left” pumped out by the prestige media. Nor has Kulinski’s name ever popped up at all in the New York Times, Vox, the New Yorker, New York Magazine, or the Washington Post, despite his leading role in cofounding Justice Democrats, the organization widely credited with sweeping Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the rest of “the Squad” to power.
Just last week, his Wikipedia page was deleted. The reason? “There is very simply no [reliable source] coverage of this person,” according to one moderator. In new media, he’s king - the Sean Hannity of the Berniecrat left. In old media, he’s nobody.
I suspect there are a few reasons for that. There is nothing “cool” about Kulinski’s show. (As a friend put it, “‘Welcome to Secular Talk’ sounds like something you’d hear on Egyptian radio.”) His no-nonsense social-democratic politics won’t get him much cred with the Full Communism crowd. He records his show not in Brooklyn or Los Angeles, but in a studio he built himself in his modest Westchester home. His hair is too groomed and his taste in clothes too preppy to qualify as “Dirtbag Left.” Nor has he ever attended an n+1 release party. “Not only have I not attended one,” he says, “I have no idea what that means.”
And yet he’s astonishingly plugged-in for a young man in the suburbs. Wondering how Sanders ended up on the Joe Rogan Experience? Kulinski, a frequent guest on Rogan’s wildly popular show, introduced them. “You make the most sense to me,” Rogan told Kulinski on a recent episode. “You’re a normal person.”
Much like Sanders himself, Kulinski’s show has a massive audience that just doesn’t compute with our media’s understanding of “what the kids want” or even “what the left-wing kids want.”
It’s probably for the best - the very woke and very WASP-ish decorum haunting much of the media world is nowhere to be found in Secular Talk. “Corporate Democrats over-focus on identity as a trick to divert you from the issues that unite us all - class issues,” he said on a recent episode.

"70 percent of Americans live in financial anxiety"
"That's ridiculous" the millionaire says as he plays with his cigar
This moment was like a cartoon moment.
Also: Bill Maher whining about vaccines and "not knowing what gets put into his body", while also smoking tobacco - the smoke of which contains 7000+ substances, many of them debilitating on a systemic level, toxic and/or carcinogenic. The hypocrisy level is effin hilarious.
Worst possible thing you can do to yourself and your own body: smoke tobacco.
@@lennyvalentin6485 Actually he's smoking a joint. It's a BIG joint. He doesn't smoke tobacco. But smoking a joint is still pretty lousy for your lungs.
He looks like he’s not even listening to her!
@@southamericanescapesyou should make him stop. How progressive
2 takeaways from this:
1. Bill Maher is now unwatchable
2. It's so perfect when Marianne is telling truths about the aristocracy to a rich guy with a cigar in his mouth, pouring himself a drink.
Brings to mind Marie Antoinette's "Let them eat cake."
Her net-worth is over $3 million dollars. This "campaign" of her's is just another lucrative book tour, so who knows what she's making from that. Not to mention all the campaign funds that will get laundered back into her bank account.
It's funny that you think to the average American there's a big difference between her and Bill Maher. She's rich and powerful too!
I don't agree with Bill Maher's worldview, but his show does have a lot of good guests.
1. Bill Maher was unwatchable for centuries now
Yeah! She’s only worth 1.5 million so she has every right to lecture that cigar smoking rich guy!
Maher comparing basic human nessessity to ice cream just shows how out of touch he is
Let them eat cake!
Well it shows the values of our society now. This is the new norm.
Capitalist ethics in a nutshell.
The moment when Marianne talks about the "corporate aristocracy" while Bill is pouring himself a drink from a decanter with one hand while holding a cigar in the other is true satirical art. I am 100% sure Marianne is aware of the irony in the situation while Bill, as self-unaware as he is, has no fucking clue.
100%
This was exactly what I was thinking 😅
And yet she has a beverage, is in a designer outfit, and made her wealth by bilking the desperate with pop-spirituality woo.
It's literally a political cartoon.
@@highroller-jq3ix Yeah...that's the cold hard truth. Marianne is an affluent hypocrite just like so many others. But the difference is that unlike Maher, who has slid so far right he's getting whiplash, the progressive rhetoric that Marianne espouses is still morally correct and ideologically preferable to the neo-cons and to the neo-libs. That's the difference between conservative hypocrisy and liberal hypocrisy.
Homeless man: "I just want a roof over my head please"
Bill Maher: "yeah and I want a free vacation to fiji, but you don't hear me complaining do you?"
And the worst part is that we actually do have to hear him whine
Keep it up elite Bill, one day the pitch forks and torches be heading your way.
If we didn't send billions to Ukraine we could easily sort out the homeless problem
*snorts rockstar line
@@stephenglover8828The people complaining about money sent to Ukraine are the same ones whining about relieving student loan debt. The people shouting “America First” don’t even want to help other Americans. A party that works to make sure others suffer and whose constituents gleefully cheer it on at every opportunity is not looking for solutions. Pretending that sending money to Ukraine is keeping America from solving its homelessness crisis is ridiculous and shows you’re not looking at the bigger picture.
The visual of Bill Maher with a cigar in his mouth pouring a drink as Marianne Williamson details the plight of the nation is something I'll never unsee.
Brings to mind Marie Antoinette's "Let them eat cake."
Maher's lost all self-awareness.
Lol what should he do instead ? 🤣
Just look at Bill. By any reasonable measurement, he looks like grandpa at Thanksgiving. Grandpa giving you his opinion on "how we did it back in the day", when a white man could make a middle class living working in a factory.
Totally out of touch, grandpa. 🙄
I mean I’m sitting here unable to possibly survive the next 5 years having lost 60 lbs since Covid started when I was just barely not underweight before but I intend on pouring some scotch and smoking a cigar tonight
Age hasn’t been kind for Bill Maher’s mindset. The older he gets, the more smug he gets. Bravo, Marianne Williamson, for pushing back on Bill Maher!!!!!
And brother, he was already very fucking smug to begin with.
Bill has turned into a real jerk. On the bright side, Marianne is really interesting to listen to. Thanks for talking about this
It’s almost impressive how often Bill Maher says other people are “stupid” while he himself knows NOTHING.
Well he did vote for Obama and Biden so yeah
@@Navy35 Pretty unrelated given what voters on the other end know

That is actually what "the people" would say
He’s too wealthy and too out of touch to the point that he thinks transphobic comedians being criticized is a bigger tragedy than people dying from a lack of healthcare.
Honestly 🙄
Because culture war bs is meant to erase class consciousness. If you are worried about trans people then you aren't focused on the rich screwing you over
Ding Ding Ding we have a winner! Well said!
All I can think is WTF happened to Bill Maher?!? He’s been unwatchable for years now. Seems he’s even worse than I remember.
Maybe if he'd had to struggle to raise a family instead of being single and childless his whole life, he'd understand how the real world actually works.
Hey, Bill. I suppose I would spend more time protesting and attempting to hold politicians accountable if I wasn’t spending all my valuable time working just to barely get by.
As an Aussie... Bernie was the one that got away.

No he didn’t. He basically just said the government takes too much in taxes and doesn’t spend it correctly.
I’ve been hearing it since Reagan was president. And it is somewhat true. Because Reagan and every subsequent president lead the country with neoliberalism. That’s why you need a change at all levels of government.
But as you can see by the election of FDR Sometimes you need to change to come from the top. He delivered and got elected four times. Andy change the face of our America at the same time.
I've been saying for awhile that Bill Maher is basically the Jim Cramer of politics now. If he gives an opinion, you can be 97% sure it's going to be ridiculously stupid and wrong.
Bill Maher should have no political opinion pretty much. Imagine fumbling for items that assist in you getting high on designer pre-rolls, and highly distilled spirits, all of which take hundreds of people to produce. All this while conversing with someone who's only motive (at this point) is to help large amounts of people. Then spit out what came out of his mouth. The guy is a total clown, and pounds his own ass with the blurry reality of his inebriation to vomit confident talking points from lobbyists masquerading as anything legitimate. The guy, gets fucked up for a living, and acts like an intellectual. So embarrassing.
nah, its just a different opinion than yours.
why does it bother you so much?
I can't help but think he does it, so the people who endorse the prevailing opinion will have to defend their opinions with the attitude "prove me wrong."
@@evertvdb000 I can't speak to the OP of this comment thread, but I can tell you why it bothers me. It bothers me that he used to be more progressive than he is now. It bothers me that he thinks having a "skid row" is just fine and dandy in the 21st century. It bothers me that, as Kyle said, he trusts corporations more than the government. As any scientist who has worked with OSHA will tell you, when corporations get less regulated, they do really evil shit. These aren't opinions on the local football team's new mascot, these issues are getting people killed and ruining lives.
@@evertvdb000 it's not the opinion on its own, it's the platform and the smugness.
It’s amazing how the truth makes Bill uncomfortable
His ego has watched unfathomably large proportions. I watched Maher since he was on regular TV, on his show "Politically Incorrect". I couldn't wait to watch when it was on b/c at that time he was one of the one's who regularly spoke truth to power. I guess when you become "the power", as Maher doesn't realize he's become, you still think you are the one who see's things for how they really are. Yet, the truth is that Maher changed. His argument is the embodiment of "See no evil". I don't *see* the evil. Therefore, there *is* no evil. Travelling to nice places with wealthy people who can afford to go to a comedy show, does not mean you've seen that much of America. He seems to forget that America is huge, and most of it is outside the rich cities or suburbs he frequents. Also many of those on the margins don't want to stick out. Many live in their cars, to stay off the street. I don't know why he chooses not to see the desperation of those who are less fortunate. He thinks that it is a "small underclass". They say that when people have been in the elite long enough, they stop empathizing with those who are suffering. Maher has clearly become one of the elite's he used to go after for their corruption. I guess you can't criticize the organization, when you want to stay a member in good standing.
Sorry if this was a rant, but I feel such anger at Maher for becoming corrupted like this.
Putting the blame on the people lets Bill take himself, and others like him, off the hook.
I was also unaware that my $1500/month premium and $7000/person deductible was "pretty close the Medicare".
Bill Maher from 2000 would have been disappointed and even disgusted to see what he'd turn into 23 years later. He became exactly the person he used to despise.
I agree.
Maher has become a cigar smoking little hollywood Fidel Castro. what a has been.
Even more so if he saw that a good corner of his fanbase are people who used to hate him.
Reminds me of the Buddhist precept: "Never hate, for you become the thing you hate."
He would have punched this Bill Maher out, then roasted him on his new rules.
I'm glad Marianne got to say to Bill's face what we all think and want to scream at him. He is cartoonishly out of touch. And that's lead him to have no empathy.
🎯🎯🎯💯 BINGO!! I wish I could like this comment 100x
He's gotten intellectually lazy imo. I used to watch him since 1998. He's gotten bad..lol
I'm a massage therapist so I talk to upper middle class all the time and they really do believe that Obama care fixed everything

She seems well informed while he seems way out of touch with reality. You can bet him and his buddies are shorting meme stocks and laughing at retailers....
Watching Bill get frustrated that he can't interrupt his guest who hasnt even come close to finishing her thought is so infuriating
He might want to give the Democratic party a million dollars to support a political candidate and shine, but he doesn't want to pay any taxes for anyone (u.s. tax-paying citizens) who's shortcomings equals living off his easy money.
She's amazing, she should have more media coverage
I wish so many more people can hear her speak.
Why can't they?
I want Jon Stewart to debate Bill Maher
he'll do that when trumbo debates christy
I've noticed for a while that John Stewart is one of the people that Maher won't invite on to his shows and I'm pretty sure it's because he fears being upstaged.
It quickly would turn into a "stop, stop, he's already dead" situation.
Sounds great to me!
It would be a slaughter. Ignorant Maher against a brilliant Stewart.
Marianne definitely seems more polished and comfortable in her skin this time around.
He's become a parody of the grumpy old man. Good to see him taken to school.
I've never been so impressed by Marianne Williamson. No one has shown up Maher as the out of touch elitist he has become as clearly as she does here. Becoming wealthy and moving in highly privileged circles has erased his capacity to even see the average American, let alone have any empathy for them.

Bill Maher: people are buying flat screen tvs. They can't be doing so bad
Buying them with credit. So negative wealth is what props up the entire working class. Even more disgusting and terrifying.
Bill is so in his bubble that even his bubble has its own bubble
Perfect!
What I really like about this is that even with Bill Maher switching around between a laughing dismissive attitude, shifting goalposts, or trying to appear to meet her half-way -- Marianne did not treat it as though she needed to rhetorically meet him half-way, unlike many other politicians. She didn't cave at all., she didn't weasel in or out of anything, she didn't get defensively obscure. She stated her position,, put forth the argument for it, repeated it without hesitation whenever relevant, and kept her position as long as she saw no actual ethical/rational challenge against it. And she did it all while being respectful and personable. Honestly I'm pretty humbled by that level of discipline.
People underestimate how well Marianne is at debating and giving speeches. I like how she doesn't lose her focus.
*Marianne🔮:* [points out that Skid Row exists]
*Bill:* [chuckles]
He has LITERALLY done New rules segments talking about how America's infrastructure is crumbling SEVERAL times. He's turned into a drunk Dennis Miller with a lot more money, which makes him 1000X worse.
💯
She said "I spoke to some TEENAGERS ON SKID ROW (aka minors!!! children!!!!)" and he comes in with "Well of course on Skid Row..." Bill ✋️WTF there should be NO CHILDREN on LA's Skid Row for her to be talking to. He didn't even actually hear what she was saying. This was literally disgusting ... " I drive around and I don't see a country falling apart at the seams," please Bill. Tell that to all the Trump voters, or to the entire side of my family who lost their jobs to GM, and the area where the GM and Chrysler plant both closed within a few years. Tell that to my kids dad who has almost $500,000 in medical debt bcuz he had a congenital heart condition no one knew and almost died, and so now he can't even get approved for a lease to live somewhere... tell that to me and my kids, a single parent who makes $55k and still can't afford to pay rent AND ALSO buy groceries AND ALSO buy school supplies. Tell that to all the people who have literally given up on the dream of home ownership and the middle class. Bill has always been somewhat of a pompous ass, but now he's not even funny. He's exactly what happened to every other white man who was a liberal in their youth - they grow old and wake up Republicans. I can't even listen to him anymore
Also has if you have to even go to skid row to see homeless people, I guess Bill doesn’t drive under any freeway overpass in LA, there are individuals and smaller encampments all OVER the city, Skid Row is just the biggest. He is so disgusting.
Maher's solution: Stay away from places where you might see the things that contradict your fatuous, self-satisfied world view, and keep blaming the victim. I'm a 67 year old white man who was extremely liberal in my youth. Now I'm a progressive socialist who finds most liberals and Democrats far too right wing. We need massive change in this country to address the concentration of wealth in the hands of a few greedy power brokers who are bending government and politicians to serve their interests. This nation has to start addressing the interests of the average working American and stop indulging elitist plutocrats who get everything they want while contributing nothing.
So, he spent the entire interview 'denying basic facts about observable reality' to defend 'changing nothing' and arguing that 'the government can't solve problems' ... He's literally a 'Libertarian' 'Capitalist' 'Neo-Liberal' 'Republican'.
You got it right. Flip/flopper. He "thinks" he smart enough to full his audience. But those who old enough to watch him understud: he has no opinion, and sold his soul decades ago.

Aka the definition of a Boomer.
What a shame.
When I was younger my uncle once told me, "everyone is a Democrat when they're 18 ... and then all those 18yro's turn 45 and become Republicans." Bill is unfortunately the living embodiment of that.
Arrogant Maher doesn’t care about real Americans because he’s an isolated millionaire
Government usually causes problems. Rarely fixes them. Ever heard of "war"?
It isn't clear if Maher actually sold out years ago, or if this has *always* been his institutional role that he was *inevitably* going to mutate into eventually.
Does bill consider billionaires part of “the people”? Because Bill doesn’t seem to be holding them culpable at all for our corrupt political system.
Just imagine 8 years with Bernie to fix it and another 8 with Marianne to build on it.
Yep imagine it...because it's not going to happen 😢
It's crushing. By the time enough gen Z are making enough money to run for Congress, and enough boomers have died off to cripple the GOPs power it'll be too late to turn things around. Well, the WGA and SAG had a hand in that.
@@dahleno2014 Ok HBO lawyer, no one gave you a platform to speak up.
Well if 70 million people voted for Biden then I might have to agree with Bill about the stupidity of the American people 😅 oh wait Bill voted for Biden and gave money to the Obama campaign ( war pigs) vote independent not these corporate democrats and corporate republicans who support outsourcing jobs and insourcing labor.
Bill: ppl aren't falling to their knees scream-crying in public so everything must be fine.
Pretty sure Marianne has a Long Island Iced Tea in that glass just to be able to muster some semblance of patience to put up with Bill's shit without smashing said glass against his face.
So what Bill is saying, “I see what I want to see.” There’s a lot of that from old heads.
Yes, Bill... SEVENTY PERCENT. Holy crap Bill has just become a corporate ghoul who's completely detached from what the overwhelming majority of Americans experience. When he's confronted with blunt, honest facts, he copes so hard that his brain just ejects completely.
sure but you have to look into these questions being asked. It's like kyle used to go on about how people wanted uhc. But if you asked them if they would want to get rid of their private insurance, they said no. So I don't think it is as simple as people make it out to be
It’s been a steady decline on Bill’s since the 90s.
@@aj2thamaxx742 90s he was quite libertarian. He was mostly great during the Bush years, and had it right to hate Trump from the getgo. He also had a lot of trouble with capitalism but now too often speaks in its favor, like now "people want free stuff". Really dumb, obviously people pay for college, healthcare in other countries with taxes. And they pay less than Americans do, in which the healthcare system is not cheap at all, because it is for...profit. And that's not the same as good results either.
He’s pompous. And interestingly, he thinks he’s so edgy and contrarian with his constant rage against the “woke”. And he voted for Amy Klobuchar.
@@aj2thamaxx742 Maybe since the early 2000s, but yes definitely!
I honestly think that he really believes that the government of the US oligarchy is a reflection of the people.
It is not uncommon for oligarchs to delude themselves like this.
Imagine thinking the police force is "socialist." Good lord, Bill truly is one of those people who thinks he's smarter than he actually is!
Bill Maher has slowly been sinking in quick sand made of his own idiocy.
“It’s ridiculous the notion that people have economic anxiety.”
Bill.. walk w/ me.. 🤦🏽♂️
He just stopped trying. He gets paid comfortably just for being Bill Maher, and he convinced himself that he meets the hype regardless of lack of effort
Bill Maher: "No, people are the problem, not greedy corporations."
Even if he said this for the longest time, he's still wrong.
It is the people. Corporations spent billions and decades of hard work to get to where they're now. Do you think they'll give it up easily without a fight?
he always said corporations were the problem but that he also thought people were stupid. He hasn't driven home the former point in a long time.
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Because corporations aren't made up of people or anything... JFC, the stupidity. How is it that idiocy and wealth so often coincide when it's supposedly the other way around?
The people hire the legislature to represent and clean up crime and Corruption internally and to protect American people from harm. So much for that notion. If they aren't troubleshooting the people's problems they've got to be fired! We are out of time. BAM.
Who do you think works for the worlds greediest corporations? Average Americans.
He is one of those people who grow more fearful as they get older and more protective of the status quo and also seem to get dumber and lack the ability to be a critical and independent thinker.
She might be dropping the truth but he is not listening now nor will he ever listen
Keep in mind, Bill Maher had Kid Rock on his podcast and he also still believes Elon Musk is a genius.
The game has passed him by.
OMG! That episode with Elon Musk was soooo gross! Maher slobbered all over Musk! "oh Elon, you're sooooo smart"
"I don't see sad people, therefore, being sad isn't a big deal and I've never seen someone off themselves so therefore there isn't really a mental health crisis" - Bill Maher logic
Like that congressman in Minnesota earlier this year who argued *against* the assurance of paid school lunches. What idiocy?!
"How can people be struggling? Everyone I talk to is either a millionaire or billionaire."
I only know 5 people that died from Covid so it must be over
@@nothanks9503 I myself have never seen a wildfire personally in real life therefore wildfires aren't even a thing.
@@Boss_Isaac yeah there's honestly no reason why anyone would oppose school lunches unless they're literally fine with kids going hungry
The social security program didn't work for some people because the disabilities were not supported by the government.
His dismissive attitude of unhoused people is nauseating, but sadly, not surprising. I was unhoused for 10 months, I highly doubt someone like Maher would ever see the humanity in folks like me. It was a terrifying time in my life. Thanks to caring supportive people, I'm now living in subsidized housing. I'm disabled with many medical bills that have bankrupted me in the past. I do work part-time. Even being housed now I have sleepless nights wondering what I'll do if my car breaks down or some other crisis occurs. Life should not be a dystopian nightmare. However, Marianne gives me hope. She has my vote in 2024!
Maher was living a normal rational life. Then one day he found out that comedians might get pushback for being terrible people. Suddenly the constitutional right of comedians to never be questioned in any forum at any time became the #1, #2, through #10 issue facing this country
You probably hit the needle on the head with this. Seems like a lot of comedians have lurched a little to the right due to the cancelation of some of their own. I also think the people on the left have moved further left themselves.
@@LNash-fn8ruwhat comedian has been cancelled?
@@carltontaylor6500 I don't personally think anyone has been cancelled but if you ask comedians they believe some of their own have been cancelled, Louis C.k is an example.
Yep! I've noticed that a lot of comedians can't stand it when people don't find their "clever" jokes funny or when the demographic they're making fun of turns around and make fun of them instead. They are very narcissistic and insecure bunch.
Bill seems to have entered the "Let them eat cake" level of entitlement.
She’s seriously seeking solutions, and Maher is hitting a bong on the $25,000 sofa with his bro-peers in Hollywood.
The big turning point for Maher was regulatory complications to get solar panels installed at his Californian home. Whether that was caused more by bureaucratic confusion (what he blames completely) or him hiring incompetent people, I am not sure, but if you watched his show regularly through these years, that was where his governmental cynicism got to a point where he started shifting toward a small government liberal (he's not a conservative because he still can't stomach climate denialism or election undermining). Shifting from a Bernie Sanders supporter in 2016 to a Klobuchar supporter in 2020.
Bill's constant interruption and that too with blatantly silly points has always annoyed me (even when i agree with him) but marianne does a good job of being assertive and not letting her voice drowned out. Its extremely unfair how she has been treated by the mainstream media
“I don’t trust the government” said the rich guy who won’t be forced into serfdom in the event that corporations destroy all government protections and privatize everything
He hopes by the time the people have had enough and make the French Revolution look like a tea party, he will have died of old age. I'm honestly already to the point is things are not going to change until several billionaires have been hung from trees to send a message that their greed ends NOW. Until they realize that $1 bil is more than enough for a 100 lifetimes so they don't need $200 bil nothing will change. Even if you are living on SF or NY even $50 mil is more than enough to live extremely comfortably for DEACDES and that's if you never invest any of it
Does he think liberals blindly trust the government at this point? I detect a shaky-at-best assumption there 🤔
It’s kinda hilarious how he’ll say something dumb, Marianne completely debunks it, he says “Yeah, I agree! But the ___!” and repeats what he said before. How is it that all the dumbest people are the ones at the top of society nowadays? Sucks, man.
I can't stand that Bill Maher is considered an "intellectual" he knows a lot about politics but he doesn't understand anything
who considers him an intellectual? He's an entertainer and a comedian.
There were also laws where if you didn't have heath care you got charged 600 or more when you filed for taxes. A litteral fine if you didn't buy in. I helped prepare tax returns back in 2017 and people were saving up to pay for the fee because they said it was cheaper to pay a fine.
Didn't the Republicans get rid of the mandate in 2017?
Imagine being downtown in Los Angeles with half the buildings owned by billionaires and kept empty declaring, "We have no economic problems whatsoever in this country."
In 2008, I had an Econ Professor (rich guy of course) who said he was just in California, and didn't "see" any economic problems. I couldn't believe a professor would say something so ridiculous. After the Financial Crisis / Great Recession, I was unemployed for 6 months after graduating top of my class and took my first job for $10/hr (no benefits) working for the City of New York. These people are f'ing moronic.
Every time Bill Maher speaks my eyes just roll to the back of my head.
Everyone ignores him when he has a legitimate concerns about how just some of these things will be implemented yet people ignore that. Even if you want these things implemented, you should be concerned with the logistical concerns or else it may never happen.... I could point to a million examples
So if he said that you were full of crap would your eyes roll to the back of your head? That would be hilarious to see ha ha! Just sayin
@@firefly9838 people don't ignore that, we're waiting for good examples from him why this or that can't. He just doesn't often offer them. It CAN be implemented, proven by plenty of others countries and systems in society.
@@firefly9838 You just sound like you're concern trolling over normal government functions as an excuse so people never get Universal Healthcare or tuition free public colleges & trade school. The government implements these changes the same way they legalize Marijuana and regulate an entire new industry; they implement it the same way they do massive emergency relief funding for COVID to both corporations and citizens. This is just a flaccid argument against any new progress or substantive change in general. As has been explained a thousand times to Bill Maher, Medicare for All raises your taxes, but it eliminates a person's private taxes to insurance companies and doctors, net saving you money, likely thousands of dollars considering how much the current healthcare industry squeezes money out of people for bullshit reasons.
@@firefly9838 Cons have been using that argument to keep society from advancing all my life. F those people.
This was like watching a first grader arguing with his teacher, it's just utterly embarrassing and even hard to look at sometimes.
Your taxes don’t fund the government!
Your taxes don’t fund the government!
When Bill leaned forward to say “that was Biden money” made me laugh so hard like it’s some sort of gotcha moment. Yeah Bill both sides are doing it, what point are you trying to make. The point is this government currently is beholden to corporate interests and not to the people.
So many people on the right equate
"The system is corrupt, we need a left wing revolution" to "I fucking LOVE democrats and will support them whole heartedly in anything they do. Biden is my hero".
Its fucking obnoxious. You call Trump shit, and people act like you want to suck Biden off. You tell them politicians are corrupt, and they say "but biden is too!!!!" like yea, no shit, nobody ever denied that.
These people see all of politics as "red vs blue" if you're team red, you must love establishment republicans, and if you're team blue, you love establishment democrats. They dont even realize that there are other options out there.
Bill's sunglasses have blinded him to the fact there is only one political party, the BUSINESS PARTY which happens to have two different branches. Its so easy to scoff at free healthcare and education when you have Maher's wealth and cushy job.
Yes. He puts higher education down now, but I notice that he's gotten his own degree. He's had that particularly enriching experience.
"job"
While I agree Maher has lost touch with regular people. I don't like the narrative of the one party BS. While there are plenty of problems with the Democrats they are not even close to as disgusting as Republicans. The reality is that barely a majority wants universal healthcare and things like that. It is not as popular as progressives like to think. We need to do a better job convincing people to not vote against their own interests, not just crying about politicians...
He probably lives next to a bunch of corporate executives and spends a lot of time on his knees.
Stoner with his head in the trough for too long
the funny thing is, people act like paying private health insurance guarantees coverage. It doesn't You can pay them and still not be covered for an emergency, etc. so even if the taxes were more at least you are guaranteed that you are covered because everyone would be under the same system.
Thanks!
Bill Maher screamed he was a libertarian which makes sense. That’s just a word to describe a rich Republican.
right.
Pot smoking Republican
Yep. Until a hurricane destroys their mansion, then suddenly they want the government to step in.
Not surprising that the first thing out of his mouth was some condescending b.s meant to imply that she's saying things she "has to say", questioning her sincerity. 🙄 i've BEEN over Bill for a long long time.
Maher: "And _who_ let the corporations get out of control?"
right, because regular people are just expected to field an army from a food desert to overthrow the CEOs
Our politicians who were bought by them, and the media who depend on them for advertising revenues.
Beyond the fact that our current healthcare model is parasitic, if you have insurance through your employer, your coverage is negotiated by your HR department. Your employer decides what your cost-shares are going to be. Your employer decides what is covered above ACA or state requirements. If self-insured, your employer can choose to opt-out of covering certain services. Why do we have a system where your employer has so much power? If you have a crappy job with moderately good insurance you’re stuck in that crappy job.
Marianne runs circles around bill
Nah bill just don’t give af about nobody selfish sob all these rich mf are like that something has to bring them to reality
Bill Maher: "Since I don't see people struggling, then the data that confirms they're struggling doesn't count."
while agreeing that he doesn’t drive to ‘that part’ of town! Unbelievable… This is like an SNL skit.
Taxes would not go up one cent, we gut the military budget by 95% and get everything we need with a tax DROP.
Bill will never understand the human experience because he missed out on the biggest one of them all.
