Props to Matt for spending 56 hours of travel to be able spend a single day to bring us this comparison. Q- why don't you use amber tinted goggle on snow? There's a reason every competition skier/snowboarder does?
This was one of my first thoughts, yellow lens glasses. Also trying to figure out if in a couple shots the lens fogged up or it was ungraded log footage.
What a great clip - thank you for taking us with you on the trip! Matt, you sounds so happy compared to other videos - happy for you that you enjoy it so much!!!!
The frozen surroundings, the lack of internal combustion fire, the eerie blue LED lightbar--the GT4 E-Performance reminds me of the undead dragon the White Walkers pulled from the lake and "resurrected" in Game of Thrones.
This is one of the best videos you’ve made in ages. I loved every second of it. Thank you so much for sharing this astonishing and badass experience with us!
As amazing as I’m sure that experience was, I struggle to picture myself living with that noise. The flat six sound especially with PSE is superior for sure!
Imagine a whole field of these racing would be good to watch but there’s no endurance potential so somehow they’ve got to keep the gasoline cars going for a long while yet. Don’t mind a mix of both, one electric and one running on e fuels. The future is bright !
I'm concerned that they're trying to impress us with the high horsepower numbers because they think that's what we want. But it's engagement and feeling we want.
EV horsepower is cheap of the shelf - still me want it, because. Lightness and feeling is key - very difficult to bring it to market, nobody has it until now.
Completely missed this video in my feed. Honestly if Matt's face was in the thumbnail I prob wouldn't have scrolled past. Didn't know it was a TST vid from the thumbnail. Anyways glad I got to see the video. Love this kinda format! Keep it up!
Very nice video, great from Porsche that they are trying their best to make EVs fun. The EV sounds like those remote controlled toy cars, but on a larger scale
That left foot braking tech is very promising for AutoX applications. (Most Modern cars can’t really left foot brake on throttle, just shuts power or lights brakes on fire)
If Porsche made a some what light weight, considerable raw electric performance car, this sounds amazing. I would always take the gas powered car over the EV, but in an all EV future I think Porsche will have the most analog feeling electric car of them all
Wouldn't running in the dark be optimal? I live and work in the near arctic and I prefer night driving when the contrast, due to snow cover, isn't the greatest on non-existent.
Yes in winter here north of the polar circle with no sunshine for 2 months in winter it is actually better to drive in the dark if you have mounted some good high beam lights on your car. With only original lights that is legal not so much...
Do we have any data on battery and its construction? Is it ladder frame with LG chem pouches (made in Poland) in it like Taycan or is it something else.
i wonder if Porsche loses the same 40 % of charge below -20 that Tesla does? Met a couple last year and in -28 their Tesla Y that said 505 km full actually got 300km leaving them 28 km away from nearest charger with a $400 tow bill.... Solid state batteries solve this but lithium is a recall in the cold in Canada.
The batteries actually have to use some of the electricity to keep warm or else they loose a LOT more power then that when it is cold. Also Lithium batteries can not be charged if they are colder then 0C. Lithium batteries do not work well or at all when it is cold without getting heated up to their optimal temperature.
Bro I'm subscribed and have been watching your videos for years. RUclips didn't feed this to me at all, nothing on my front page. Just found out about it bc someone posted it on Reddit. Ugh!
On the side of the truck, the h in MW.h stands for hours. Wonder if the Porsche rep actually told Matt units of power instead of energy or if Matt dropped that off himself.
In the latest podcast with magnus you had mentioned that the trailer is 2.1 Gigawatts, but this video states 2.1 Megawatts. Curious as to which one it is / if one of the videos needs a correction
Sounds like a cup car? Sounds more like the worst NorEaster in MA. No light and nearly no audio in the dark, dang. Still, must have been a blast and a half.
RUclips was fucking up and playing only the audio on this. Not going to admit how long I stared at the black screen listening to voiceover thinking it was an artistic statement about Nordic darkness.
Looks like a grand ole time. I would like to think that the car world will never forget when I turned a 1st Gen Infiniti Q50S into a Porsche, and did exactly what you’re doing by adding a… somewhere around 300 pound piece of tree trunk from a tree that was cut down after New York’s first hurricane to the trunk, and rear steering around my entire neighborhood… while everyone was stuck inside due to the snow storm of course… The three Japanese engineers that flew in to take a look at my car might have the computer data… but the satellites were blocked that day due to the clouds from the storm… But once again, that looked like loads of fun. Keep up the good content. 👍🏾💪🏾
to get the ratio between the wheels and motor right you usually need a gearbox, in evs it is almost always a single speed transmission i.e. no shifting
Props to Matt for spending 56 hours of travel to be able spend a single day to bring us this comparison.
Q- why don't you use amber tinted goggle on snow? There's a reason every competition skier/snowboarder does?
I lovey yellow glasses for winter driving. Hell any inclement weather driving is better with some high contrast yellow lenses.

My thought exactly!!
YES!!!!!! A narative video! I know how much more work these are for you guys. I love it when you make them. You do a great job, very Bourdainesque.
Very nice video TST team, beautifully produced. That car/ice driving experience looks like a blast.
Neat technology, but that GT4 Clubsport on studded tires was something special. 👍
The frozen surroundings, the lack of internal combustion fire, the eerie blue LED lightbar--the GT4 E-Performance reminds me of the undead dragon the White Walkers pulled from the lake and "resurrected" in Game of Thrones.

notice he said that even in the gas car all you can hear is the gears.
Beautiful film! Thank you to both Matt, Zach, and the supporting team

Tell that to hellcat owners. Tons of power and a horrible drive.
EV horsepower is cheap of the shelf - still me want it, because. Lightness and feeling is key - very difficult to bring it to market, nobody has it until now.
porsche is about engagment and feeling not hp lol!!!
@@mrstinky2421 While I agree, (I'm someone who won't buy a car above 500bhp), at least Hellcat power has drama to it.
Yes, everyone should be concerned. But, sadly, engagement and feeling is very hard to sell.
I am so glad I did not sell my GT4 during Covid. I have a Tesla for my everyday commuter, but it’s nothing like my weekend ride in the Porsche.
Glad the algorithm was kind to this video. I was never notified of the Legends car video despite researching them after the AdamLZ videos.
Completely missed this video in my feed. Honestly if Matt's face was in the thumbnail I prob wouldn't have scrolled past. Didn't know it was a TST vid from the thumbnail. Anyways glad I got to see the video. Love this kinda format! Keep it up!
OH HELL YEAH!!! I've been waiting for this one to drop, what a helluva trip! Thank you Matt and Zach!
Well this looks like the most fun ever
for 15min then you have to charge
Beautiful, those new e-Porsche will be Incredible in all conditions
i love that blue tailight
I enjoyed the video a lot even though it was a ton of commitment for one video. Thanks for sharing with us 👍🏽
One of your best videos yet!
Looked super exciting, and what a place!
Ok so nevermind the m/kw.. but coolness & fun: Yes.
Sweet show, Thanks Guys! 👍
Coming straight from the pod with Magnus 😂
I like the epic music during the oversteer pedal talk, it was like a siege was being explained lol
You get the best gigs Mat, great vid btw, with this and the Magnus podcast it’s Porsche heaven today, peace
Love this type of video. Hope for more views to see more experiences like this
GT4 CS stole the show
Well done, Matt. Thank you!
Amazing video...thank you TST Team
So glad Porsche is at least trying to make fun EVs. Give hope for the future.
Love it. This would be a hell of a series to watch. Did anyone else think the audio mix the first few minutes was off? Like really loud music
Holy crap!!! That looks soooo much fun dude!!
Doing this in the snow. That is insanely awesome!
Nice work Matt..
Was wondering what you were doing in Finland when I heard you mention it on the podcast some time ago. Looks hella fun!
Great video ! I can see it took a lot of work and long travel ofc
Awesome intro!
Finally, a practical video.
Amazing video TST
That was so awesome!
Hey, you came to Finland. 🥰 Finally!
Excellent video!
Awesome!!
It looks amazing. I'd love to do that.
Matt looking very svelte in that fire suit! Love it.
Great video as always Matt 👏
Technology is wild. So cool.
Really enjoyed the video. The snow and clouds make it really hard to tell what's going on. Very cool shoot, tho.
great video fun to watch on the big screen. 🤟
Cool ! Sounds like you were smiling a lot ! 👍👍
This is awesome!
Youll have to come to Wisconsin and do some ice racing 😊
The noise that the cup car made was really annoying …. Which is funny because I love straight cut gear noise in an ICE car.
This is a great example of why drifting is better than most other motorsports
Very nice video, great from Porsche that they are trying their best to make EVs fun. The EV sounds like those remote controlled toy cars, but on a larger scale
That looks like so much fun. That Cayman is w ild.
It's not the same without sound and vibrations, no matter what they'll come up with...
wow i never thought id say i like an Eletric vehicle but take my money
Great video thank you.
I hope this video makes the trip worth it!
Reminds me of driving my mustang as a teenager in the Minnesota winter.
Great video! Not excited for EVs but curious to see how the new EV Boxster will be
That's a great day at work.
Great video!!

Nice video as per usual, these glorified milk floats will never replace petrol powered cars.
Finland is amazing
This video goes so hard
I think the look is crazy and I would 100% be on board if that was the street car.
This is a good video, but it should just be called "Why you should give me my own TV show"
The sound dentist’s drill. I’d rather hear the sound of a jack hammer.
That ev motor noise is horrific
the sound of this thing. HELL NO.
No lie, My Brushless RC car sounds the same as these electrics.

Electric racing, yes, because we all are HUGE fans of Formula E
Man, all 7 of them are gonne be piiissed!

I know the complaint, travel time for work.……but this had to have been fun 🥶

ICE ICE Baby
If EVs had a legendary “V10” sound equivalent this would be it.
I'd love to hear Matt's tought on how fsd would work here in Finland now that he's seen the environment
Unless Finland is somehow completely different from the rest of the world: like shit.
Hellooooo from Sweden 😀

Reindeer for lunch 💀💀 poor reindeer haha
Nice, was waiting on this one!
That so scary having 2 megs on deck like that 🤯.
On the side of the truck, the h in MW.h stands for hours. Wonder if the Porsche rep actually told Matt units of power instead of energy or if Matt dropped that off himself.
Cool, good for gen z and gen alpha
Want to go!
Gonna start getting reaaaaaaaaaally rough for Tesla and its horde pretty soon..
They will basically become the dodge of the EV world
The outro "says" it all.
I'm very curious what the next generation of the GT4 will look like

why does it have a gearbox? or are the straight cut gears a simulated sound?

@@joakimlundstrom5497 i guess I don’t understand why the single speed needs to be straight cut. I understand what a gearbox is for though
@@dbeckMSPidk, I think they're just generally better: more efficient, make for a lighter construction etc but come with a lot of noise
I am pretty sure the sound you hear is the electric engines, not from a gearbox...
