- Part two of two. Clarkson, May and Hammond are challenged to convert their hard working motorbikes into amphibious machines, and find a bar in the middle of a Vietnamese bay.

I love how the three works. They won't lift a finger to help each other out. But at the end, one of them will just throw a beer at the other and say 'have one''. It's just really cool.
True friendship.
True friendship is being cold hearted enough that you just sit and watch as your friend(s) work through a simple problem on their own so they can learn from their mistakes, but also being understanding/empathetic enough to hangout, and share a drink, with them once they succeed. Of course, if any of them were *REALLY* going through something hard or difficult, that could pose a risk to their life for example, you know damn well that the other two would be there to help them. *That's* what *real* friends do...
I thought I had made some real friends growing up because we were all crazy outcasts that did stuff like this all the time throughout our school years, but I found out the hard way in my mid 20s that they were not real friends after all. I got completely cut out/ignored just for developing an addiction and for trying to be a true friend to another guy in our group that had done all of us dirty (myself included, and actually worse so than the others). So to anyone out there that wants to be the best kind of friend to the people they care about, repeatedly and actively insist on just hanging out with any friend of yours that develops an addiction, and just treat them like normal if they take you up on your offer. Nothing can help more than continuing to show support by being a positive role model of normalcy and decency for them. The more you distance yourself from a friend, the easier it becomes for them to justify doing that next hit, or adjusting the standards they had set for themselves back during the "good ol' days". Seriously, we all just want to lead relatively normal, peaceful and happy lives, so merely being around a friend in need physically and treating them just like you would any other normal person can remind them that it's possible to find happiness and peace by quitting and going about life the way they used to. Let people figure out little stuff on their own, but it's extremely difficult to go through really serious and damaging trauma without developing some kind of unhealthy coping mechanism if you're on your own.

@@Oly1y Well, all I really do is watch their show, so I don't actually know how they treat each other in real life and I'm willing to bet that neither do you. However, from what I've seen of how they treat each other when they are reacting genuinely to something that happens on the show, I'm willing to bet that if any of them came into serious troubles in real life the others would be there to help, at least a little bit. I'm talking about stuff like someone's life being on the line, or the quality of their relationship with family members being in jeopardy. I'm talking about traumatic events that would permanently damage and change who a person is. Those are the situations in which there's no doubt in my mind that they would help each other out because no one wants to see their friend turn into a completely different person. They mess around and tease each other a lot on the show, but the chemistry between them literally wouldn't be the same if any of them had a significant change in their personality or behavior, so, in addition to wanting to help a friend for empathetical reasons, I'm sure they would also want to prevent some kind of tragedy happening to one of them for financial reasons because the show just wouldn't be the same if one of them became paralyzed or something like that.
@@moogle68 watch the behind the scenes or cut out extras of top gear (you can find them on youtube) where they talk casually and you can see theyre obviously very big mates and theh laugh about each others jokes more often. Their friendship is like 3 best highschool friends who have known eachother for years even tho theyre 50 year old brits. Thats why we love them so much
Hammond always wins presentation, May wins technicality, and Clarkson wins brute effectiveness
How technically
I wouldn't call driving a truck into another to remove a door to tape another on in its place only to have it fall off, or black out so much of your windshield that you can barely see anything, putting a fire inside your car or several of his other stuns "effective."

This Top Gear special inspired me to go to Vietnam and spend a few days in Ha Long Bay. One of the best times of my life. Thank you Top Gear and Vietnam :)

I rode my bicycle from Hanoi to Saigon on exactly the same route they did and I loved it very much! Sometimes it was annoying because when I stopped somewhere to eat, to look into my map, to pee (!), to rest I was immediately surrounded by dozens of curious people starring at me silently as if I was an alien; they were friendly but it was just too much attention for me :-)

Sven Lima Vietnamese countryside people they don't see much of white people. That's the same "alien looking" when I moved to Canada in a small town, when I took a bus going to school, the whole bus old and young looked at me like they did to you in Vietnam. Later I found out that I was only the 6th Asian man living in the town and the first Asian took the bus.
Andrew Nguyen I don't blame them for being curious because I was there when tourism started and the country was still very underdeveloped. I'm aware that I was an attraction - especially as I was travelling by bicycle. For extraverted people getting all that attention would have been paradise ... :-)

James being the quintessential Englishman swims to the landing and flops on the deck soaking wet but not before lifting up onto the dock, Darcy, his battered and broken present from his two mates, as A True Gentleman would never leave his friends heart felt gift behind. Gotta love Captain Slow!
