These are not new revelations by Fripp nor anyone else. It was completely made up. There is only so much that can be said about this short-lived lineup, just like Joy Division. But there will never be a shortage of new books and opinion pieces by self-important experts. The only one who could add anything to the story is Giles himself, one of two surviving original members since the death of Sinfield in November. But the man has never seemed interested in talking about the old days.
You show more images of Bill Bruford than you do of Michael Giles, even though Bruford's name is not mentioned even once. At one point, you show a photo of the band Family, which has nothing to do with your subject matter.

Both Ian McDonald and Michael Giles had disagreements with the direction of the music - and the strain of touring - and Greg Lake was going to leave soon anyway to form EL&P - every King Crimson record had different line-ups - ( although the early 80's line-up did 3 records together ) - Fripp is the band - and it's members served as long as he wanted them to ..
Well, there was also Andy McCulloch who played on Lizard album. He and bassist Haskell found those sessions too hard. After playing with the band Greenslade (yeah, that former Colosseum keyboardist) he disappeared from music completely.
All the great albums are " accidents" that confirm music essential matter. Robert Fripp, as F. Zappa is certainly a genius. But this kind of people always want hyper talentuous musicians to service their own and exclusive vision of music. They are like a bolt on steel screwed on itself. Giles and consorts belong to an orher universe which is the essence of rock music, a music based on groove, feeling, improvisation and spontaneity. Prog was often great and gave masterpieces, it's sure, but this approach had its own hindrances because all the great creators finally refuse to be only considered in the rock scene and its entertainment aspects, wanting to be considered as composers of contemporary or skilful or clever music. Too much discipline. Not enough pleasure, may be....
Slanderous drivel concocted by artificial intelligence. I hope Giles sues the idiot responsible for this. Giles followed the path of his heart and wisdom has found success on his own terms, which is admirable. I'm also sick of the narrative of Fripp being the mastermind of the initial King Crimson concept. He just inherited it after Giles, Lake and McDonald left.
