HOW I SERVICED MY DOMINATOR EXTREME WINCH

How I removed and serviced my Dominator Extreme winch. Unfortunately one of the planetary gears had seized on it's shaft and the shaft was now spinning in the carrier. Yes it still works but will probably let me down when I most need it. So I have bought a new winch and have this one as a spare.

You know you gonna get your kings haters on here now saying you should've bought a more expensive which I service my own winch regularly and never had a problem with it on the FJ and it's been on for nearly 10 years. I've seen more expensive winches get water in them too, so I wouldn't worry about it. great job on servicing, the winch hope it serves you well in the future. Keep up the good work

Thanks Ed. Yes I'm fully aware about the Kings haters and I'm waiting for it. I wasn't happy with the gear being seized on the shaft and the shaft spinning in it's carrier so I bought a new winch so now I have spare parts. Adventures Kings do sell an awful lot of overpriced garbage, and have absolutely terrible after-sales support, but the Domin8r Xtreme is one of the best winches for most off-roaders who are able maintain their own vehicles.
You may want to budget for a nice Albright Solenoid and decent copper cable, but that applies to all budget Winches on the market.

Kings don't sell them as spares I tried so I waited until the winch came on special again and bought another winch. Now I have a spare

@@FlatBrokeAdventures I installed mine today and so glad I pulled apart the new winch to grease properly. Very dry and inconsistent.Took all day but winch spools up nice, have to do some pulls next weekend. Might be an idea to keep 2 on rotation as al the cabling is down just plug and play with a pre greased one.
