I disagree, the whole "this is not an action camera" argument is getting old. We have consistently seen videos since launch this camera used in the real action world environment, ranging from scuba diving, skiing, MTB, Kayaking, Freediving, Motorcrossing etc etc, the list goes on. If you don't want to flip screen to break during those events, simply put it down. Remember also that actioncameras didn't always have a front display screen and yet we seemed to have lived and frame our shots just fine, we are just spoiled by that feature. Do you realized that are other actioncameras out there in the market that work just as well that doesn't have front facing screens. You also neglect to mention that those front facing screens, many have complained that most times under some sporting conditions ie. scuba diving you can barely make out that screen. The funniest thing is that we complain about the 'flip' up screen being damage, how's that different from a front display screen being damaged, I've seen that screen smashed a few times and that's a huge repair bill btw lol. With GoPro's 5.7k and Ace Pro's FreeFrame video mode, we don't really need to 'frame' our videos anymore, that's the point of those features. Everyone uses their cameras different but to say this is NOT an action camera is a brainless speculation. In the month that this camera has been released and used in those action environment, I have yet to seen that flip up screen broken or damaged, funny how that works right? lol. ps. I have the DJI osmo with the front display, never used it and my footage comes out framed just fine ;)

Nice video! Bought the Ace Pro a while back, and let me tell you, the flip screen is super durable. And I'm genuinely blown away by its low-light performance.

I wish GoPro can have a big flip screen like that.

Good points and great video, however I am pretty much sold on this. I don't vlog, I just record hikes, SUP rides with a camera like this occasionally.
I've had the gen1 DJI Osmo Action and planning to get this. I'd go with the Insta360 X3 but I am not a huge fan of the form factor. I also have a Meta Quest 2, so 360 videos also speak for the X3. It has has the 1/4" mount by default. I would not mind editing 360 footage but I don't always want to fiddle with it. Low light videos are better on the AcePro on the other hand. So, the AcePro looks a bit more promising. Oh, you cannot stream with the AcePro as opposed to the X3. And they both support Garmin integration, so that is a common thing.
Not a huge dilemma, the AcePro is my main pick I am just trying to watch more and more videos.

Thank you for your honest review and feedback, and probably real world usage. So many reviews are like watching a master woodworker build a simple but elegant dining table, but has a shop full of awesome machinery, when I only have a drill and circular saw. I think you helped to identify the real possibilities of this camera. Since your review is later, thank you for not explaining the same features ad nauseum in the same way. Especially about low light video. In my opinion, while one year lens protection is nice, it's just one year, as most warranties are just a year. Looks like you held the camera at arms length. The focus doesn't seem to be a problem. The clarity zoom, is just 8x cropped to 4x right, albeit, a very nice zoom indeed. The cameras are experiencing a caste like circumstance, with the dying cheapo pocket cameras, most companies have gravitated and focused on high end cameras that are out of reach of most middle class peeps. I think the Ace Pro can help to bridge the gap a bit. Maybe the Action 4 bridges a bit better at that price point. For the casual person like myself, this seems to fit that area of having lots of functionality, quality, and durability to last for many years. Thanks again for your simple, straight forward, honest review!

I'm not sure that the "action cam / vlogging cam" categorization is the right one.
On the one hand because vlogging is a micro niche with very little reach, on the other hand because I think that only the hardest "actions", those the most risky, require the strongest cameras. And this exclusive use is again a micro niche.
On the other hand, the Ace Pro is indeed an action camera, not for the toughest actions, but for a very large majority of actions which will not put the camera in danger. And it's also a camera that can cover a wide range of other scenarios, including the very small niche of vlogging.

I didn’t want an action camera but when I saw the back screen flip and AI functions in low light I have to admit I was tempted. But I’ve seen a lot of vloggers move to action cams and the Osmo pocket and are dropping their main camera. I have the Osmo 2 and it’s great for some uses as you mentioned less conspicuous and I’ve heard the 3 was a big improvement.

Yes, the Osmo 3 is an impressive improvement and I think the microphones especially do a good job for vlogging. I like the form factor of action cameras but the Osmo 3 is the first camera that is really shifting people from mirrorless, at least some of the time.

Umm. Don't think I can agree. I have an Ace Pro, just received it few weeks ago. Ace Pro is an action camera that can be used for vlogs, and the flip screen is durable than I thought.

It's not an action camera. It's of vlogging camera. Nobody wants a flip screen on an action camera. That will easily break during action sports.

@@MiyagisRant I would be praising the camera if I were a fanboy. I don’t give a fuck what you think is old or new.

@@Cameraflyer- LOL was starting to think you were a bot saying the same line in every Ace Pro channel. If you hate it that much, stop trolling in those channels saying the same brainless line lol Good riddance!

The only issue is the camera is completely out of focus. Totally not good for vlogging because your face is blurry.
