I really wanted to like Romulus and despite some positives like the set designs and practical Alien effects, as an actual film it just didn't work. Started off well on the Jackson's Star Colony and i wanted to see more of that world but as soon as it became a "Best of" Alien movies, it went downhill very fast. The dialogue was actually embarrassing at times and the fact they included the "Get your hands off her" line just summed up how devoid of ideas this film was.
You’re definitely a fan boy, and so am I 😂 but this was a solid 5/10 from me. It was uninspired, and didn’t add anything interesting or unique to the franchise. Instead, it took the opportunity to make repeated callbacks to the other films in the franchise. I was sitting there watching it and thinking.. oh yeah there’s this from this film and there’s that from that film and he said this line from that other film. Fail.
It had its moments. The mood, lighting and creature effects were top notch but the characters ruined it for me. I cant recall seeing a more unlikeable group. I was rooting for the aliens within 20 minutes.
It made no sense at all. Finding the original creature could have been cool if it had just one back to life (like that stupid rat experiment they focused on)… but no, it’s just dead… an “unkillable” creature would keep it being terrifying, but no, it’s just dead and like in Aliens, the “Perfect Organism”, is just a “bug hunt”. Glad there was no queen as that was another mystery killer that Alien introduced. That only worked because Cameron is actually a good director. FYI the direction sucks. The pacing is laughable. I had to stop myself from laughing out loud. I will be even consider this part of the Alien universe.
Honestly it’s the best installment since aliens and this movie fucks. Despite some bs cgi and the crazy callbacks to the OG• it delivers fr. It’s just well made lads, and it hits.
Give it time u'll realize it's an awful movie! When I left the movie theater no white people were clapping at the end, just confused silent! 🤣🤣🤣 Happy that u & ur shill friend liked the movie! It sucks for everybody else!
I didn't care for most of the cast, but I can get past that, What bothered me most was the beat down of fan service. I was so frustrated by the end of this movie. From the uncanny valley CGI bringing back a character, the out of character lines that were simply pulled from previous films, to recycling the climax of Resurrection with the New Born (which I have hated for 26 years)...The constant recycling all pulled me out of this story. I was just depressed by the end of this, with the thought that all we have left is to recycle even the bad ideas.
They Probably did go to a acting school 100k to 250k pounds a year fee, payed for by there parents and that is the same for most of the popular singers, Rapers, actors, sports, politics, news.
I disagree Fede Alvarez is a great director but when the cat is developed from the first alien more than most of your cast it's a problem. Not a big one I still have it 3rd best in the franchise.
The fact that this film is supposed to take place between Alien and Aliens makes no sense. Wayland/Yutani created the Xenomorph, did experiments on it, but suddenly the company forgets all of this when the movie Aliens arrive? It makes absolutely no sense.
Firstly Alien vs Predator movies where not knock off Alien movies lol, as for Romulus I thought it was overall good, 7 out of 10 is My rating, Andy was the best character. There is room to have a direct Prequel set showing what happened with Big Chap, and there is also room for a direct sequel because as seen at the end of the Movie the Space station was not completely destroyed. It looks like the space station only lost 20% of is structure and apears to of stabilised in the rings.
To me this movie is epicly Amazing. But, I had a few issue with it, and my biggest issue is the character. The only character that I found good is Andy the Synthetic, as a character with fabricate emotion, he feel really complex and I get emotional for him so much than the other characters. The other Characters the human character is pretty much one dimensional, just your typical the kind maternal, the strong head, the douche, and the boyfriend. The station for me also feel underutilized and didn't get explore enough, and there's quite a halt between every moment. Also there's that exposition dump by one of the character that feel force, because the way he explained it is like it was a presentation. Putting all that aside I really love it, it's amazing, beautiful and thrilling. I love the finale, but I do think a number of Alien fan will get turned off by it.
I thought it was creepy that human baby and what the thing is Turing into. The main focus of the movie was on the Aliens and the end creator is the final twist.
So this reviewer says that director Alvarez copying Ridley Scott is a positive but that means he copied Ridley Scott, Alien Romulus is a huge disappointment, big swing and a bigger miss. Alien Romulus mimics scenes from prior Alien movies with a plot around the scenes and it doesn’t work for me, Major disappointment
This movie was...alright. I liked some sequences but a lot of the others had a great concept that did not translate well on camera. And the CG was AWFUL.
All practical effects? Rook looked like absolute CGI garbage and almost ruined the film. The ridiculous number of lines stolen from the other movies is just shameful and totally feel out of place. I won't say the movie was bad, but it's easily the worst of the Alien franchise if the AvP movies are excluded.

@@sabbaseleftheriadis5601 They are very different movies. I do prefer Prometheus overall, flaws and all. It's just a gorgeous, original movie with an absolutely crazy cast. Idk what everyone is whining about, it’s a good film. I enjoyed Covenant and Prometheus because they were fun.
