Vince Carter's Jersey BELONGS In Toronto's Rafters

  • To some Raptors fans, the resentment from Carter's contentious exit still lingers two decades later, making the team's decision to honor the hall of famer more controversial than you might think.
    But c'mon. This is a no-brainer. The time is now to finally hang Carter's jersey.

    Doesn't matter about the controversies. Vince single handily was the main reasons there are so many Canadians basketball stars nowadays. He put the Raptors/Toronto on the map. He will always be link as one of the greatest iconic player to ever wore a Raptors jersey.

      Canadian players are separate from the organisation's issues with him. Other honors for the promotion and growth of the game in Canada absolutely, but not from the Raos. First jersey should have been K Lowry

    #15 is the most iconic number in Raptors history. Yes I know he didn't win a title and left on "unfavorable" terms with management, but #15 literally put TORONTO on the basketball map. It's long overdue. The fans who hate will have to cry in their car.

    8994 days ago, I was a kid watching the NBA All Star weekend for the first time. I was mesmerized by one guy in a purple jersey, and decided then and there that was the team I was going to support. Not just Vince Carter, what about Chris Bosh he carry the raptors after Carter left, he was average about the similar numbers like other power forwards like Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan before Bosh left for the Heat to win two rings with LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. Heat retire Bosh number but Raptors need to retire Bosh it’s overdue.

    • @GregRJohnson736
      @GregRJohnson736 2 дня назад +3

      Why Chris Bosh? Like I get he was a great player, but what did he do for Toronto? In the 7 seasons he played for them they made the playoffs twice and never made it out of the first round.
      Kyle Lowry helped bring Toronto a championship and Vince Carter is probably the reason the raptors still exist (see vancouver grizzlies for what could have been the Toronto Raptors without Vince.) but Chris bosh was just a great player who did absolutely nothing for the franchise besides help the raptors make 2 first round exits.

      Management (Rob Babcock) quit on Vince long before he quit on the team...not saying it was right for Vince to do so, but everyone seems to leave out the full context when they re-tell the story. If the Raps had a GM that surrounded him with actual talent at the time (and if the GM wasn't incompetent) the trade wouldn't have happened and Vince would've been motivated to stay and win in Toronto.

    We should also retire Damon Stoudamire's jersey. Not only was he a super-star/All-Star during the first couple of the expansion season, waaaayyy before when we didn't even have a true arena in downtown Toronto (later became the Air Canada Center where VC put us on the map for a city that has now grown to be basketball community.) Speaking of which, not only was Mighty Mouse was a ROTY, he made sure even without the power of popularity such as Carter, that he would still try his best to grow the city from inside out because I met Stoudamire at a local mall once signing autographs.

    Are we really valuing longegivty over greatness in nba? What was so "great" about Kyle Lowry in Toronto?

      All time 3 pointers. All time assists leader. All time steals. All time triple doubles.
      He was an all star 6 years in a row as a Raptor. He was labelled a trouble maker when he arrived but became the heart and soul of the franchise. Essential part of the championship being next best to Kawhi.
      Buddy your question is blasphemous.

      @ryanalexharris so Kyle Lowry is as great as Kemba is for the Bobcats/Hornets. Got it. He was a great player for the Raptors but he still under delivered failing to perform in the playoffs. I'm just saying he's definitely not greater than Carter or Kawhi. Honorable but not the greatest Raptors ever because that's just sad

      @@GARIONN1 when we say greatest raptor we don’t mean talent wise. We mean the guy who represents our team the hardest. So yeah it’s like a Kemba situation I guess
