If I were Saunders I would have taken the dead german corporal's machine pistol(MP 40) and ammo for Jack Lord, since he was only carrying a pistol. The extra firepower would have been useful for the small squad.
Notice that scenes filmed at the chateau/castle, bridge and river do not feature close-ups of any of the actors. Those scenes were actually filmed in France using doubles for the principal actors. It was a lot cheaper for the producers of COMBAT! to utilize long shots than to pay Vic Morrow and company to fly to France to film those scenes.
Man, every time they lay low, their position is given away by some guy who doesn't follow the simplest instructions ever and always precedes his stupidity with "But they might see us!" I hate to seem callous, but Saunders was right here just as he was back in The First Day: they didn't follow orders.
William Hiers You know the other thing to consider is though, I was doing some anti-Tweaker covert operations in my neighborhood the other night, and my position was completely solid, but a. ar randomly decided to do a U-turn, which turned into a three point turn, right on my position, and I tell you what; I broke cover and ran. I figured I could get away a lot quicker, leaving them to doubt whether or not someone just popped out of some random bushes and ran, then it would be if I had to explain myself. Maybe I wasn’t cut out for battle.
I’m loving the exterior shots in France. Too bad Vic & company wanted too much money to fly over and film there. It would have added a lot more authenticity and immersion to the show.
Legion 57 From what I recall, it was more than producers/studio execs wanted to pay, so they just decided to film the the medium and long shots with French actors.
Always amazed at the quality of the scripts, impressed with the acting, and blown away by the quality of the music.
Lots of good black & white scenery in this one.

If I were you,I wouldn’t assume that Jack Lord’s character can use a MP 40.

Looks like Normandy or the Loire Valley area, maybe Picardy?
