    "The Farmer" is one of the better episodes of Combat, and that's saying a lot because there were so many great episodes. Spending a lot of my childhood on my Uncle's farm, playing and going on adventures with my Cousins, makes the plight of these French farmers an almost personal emotion to me. All of us were either in 4H or FFA and still felt an affinity to the Land. You don't see that much in 2013. The "Family Farm" is a thing of the past...

    Growing up in the 50's and 60's I will always think of "Chester" when I see Dennis Weaver. Who can forget the suspense in the movie "Duel" in 1971?! He was never a Leading Man but he WAS a very good actor and will be remembered fondly by most of us over 50. Dennis Weaver is part of Americana...

      Don't forget he did the lead in "McCloud" for a good while. ;-)

      You people, 50 and older will be remembered as the generations that gave western civilization away. We will all spit on your graves

    William 'Billy' Dennis Weaver (June 4, 1924 - February 24, 2006) was an American actor, best known for his work in television, including his role as Matt Dillon's trusty helper Chester Goode on the long-running western series Gunsmoke, as Marshal Sam McCloud on the NBC police drama McCloud, and in the 1971 TV movie Duel, the first film of director Steven Spielberg. from Wikipedia BTW.

      Funny trivia about dual and Jaws, Spielberg use the soundtrack from some old dinosaur movie when Jaws blew up and when the truck went over the cliff to make that slow growling monster noise. ;-)

    I like the sarge he's a realist, and I like the farmer too he' s an idealist, and in the middle is reality.

    One of the best " KIRBINATOR'S" lines is " Never saw a tree till I was ten"

    and..."Marshall Dillion!" Weaver also played deputy Chester Goode in the TV classic western "Gunsmoke." And 'Gentle Ben, where he played Wildlife Officer Tom Wedloe, Ron Howard's brother, Clint, was Wedloe's son, Mark.

    They were all great actors bringing some reality to life for main stream. Perhaps not all perfect but better than todays world for sure. Time for all to wake up before too late. Look out for China.

    Duel was a pretty good movie with Denny Weaver. I remember watching the debut on TV in the 70s.

    Why doesnt Little John try the boots of the dead germans? While looting bodies is considered a terrible thing, necissity often overrides such considerations.

    SAUNDERS never carried any extra clips for his tommy gun in the early shows series one he had the tommy guns extra clips in them but not many shows he always pull one from inside his shirt or jacket which any ones knows that would not happen for real sorry to pick on this show loved watching them again

    • @BikingVikingHH
      @BikingVikingHH 3 года назад

      mark raymond wow, you are commenting on the fact that he never has an extra clip, but did you notice he never even aims, or shoulders the gun in a single scene? Not once does he aim his weapon, neither does Kirby, the Germans are the only ones that ever aim their rifle, mostly because they are probably X military extras, yet they are the ones that can’t hit shit. Funny.

    Seems like many of the guest stars are jerks and disrespectful to Saunders.
