This was so funny and also completely cements my theory that the Cheetah Girls books are teacher-books: the books that teachers pick up for super cheap to fill their classroom libraries for their 4-6th graders. I never knew anyone who was obsessed with the Cheetah Girls books, but every classroom I was in in elementary school had like 4 random books from the series out of order on their shelves for students to take. Also in terms of why there was such a gap in the publication between the books, the short answer is 9/11. Roughly 90% of the US publishing industry is in New York, and a ton of publishers had offices in the vicinity of the twin towers. A lot of publishing houses were evacuated for months after the attack, distribution systems went down, and the number of titles published per year literally halfed (25k books published in 2002 vs. 50k published the year before) it took a really long time for the publishing industry to recover. A lot of series that were coming out at the same time have similar gaps.

Okay. My favorite movies are the second and third ones. And I've never read the books cause I didn't speak English when I was younger, but I'm considering reading them cause I'm OBSESSED with the Cheetah Girls and your video really made me wanna read them even more.
This video was everything! I was around 9 or 10 when I first started reading these books, I think I only read three of them- watched the movies and loved them (my favorite song was and still is Cinderella). It’s a shame that the rest of them weren’t that good, I remember Dorinda, Aqua and Angie always being my favorite characters. Aqua and Angie reminded me of my two sisters who were raised in North Carolina, but they weren’t as… strange as Aqua and Angie kinda came off lol. From a writers standpoint, I think the point of all of these random storylines is basically padding- if Deborah Gregory would have just stuck to that main storyline the series would’ve been five books at best. My theory about the Raven-Simone snub is apparently she’s quite a diva/hard to work with on set (she apparently didn’t get along that well with the other girls) so perhaps Deborah Gregory didn’t like her very much or they had a disagreement at one point? Just a theory
