Numi what a fantastic video i have been waiting for this one, i also have the full set of sovereigns for 2017 , thankyou for taking the time to bring us all the information and knowledge of the coin world :)
I complained to the Mint in November about the Strike on the Day being identical to the February issue and making their customers unhappy - I got a so what type of reply - typical. My favourite going forward is the same as yours - Plain Edge SOTD from July 2017.
Totally agree an exceptionally beautiful coin! Govmint and NGC got together and came up with First Day of Production (FDP). PCGS calls them First Strike (FS). I understand and they can call them what they want but their still proof to me. I'm going to look for the Pierdfort coin. Great video. R.S.blocked me because of my Panda references. As i really care.
When you say sealed from mint can you define this I bought many of the 2017 sovs I opened boxes to confirm coins there but never removed coins from capsules all still in mint boxes sealed means what boxes were not if I recall taped shut all mine never left mint packaging have coa received with cons still in original boxes thanks numi
Expected you to review the 1/4 sov of 2017 which turned out as you said a rare find I bought all I could find you just focused on the diff types not the sizes I understand vid was getting long
Question for you Numi.. I got a brand new 2018 1/4 oz proof Red dragon going to send it to NGC for grading. Then I found one spot had some kind of dust or something stick to the coin. So I used a glasses cleaning cloth lightly dust it off and now that little area now had lost it shiney. Should I send it to NCS first before NGC? I should live it alone(Du...b). I am mad at myself right now!! Thank you.
It’s likely you have ruined it. The glasses cleaning cloth would have scratched the surface of a proof coin. I would try to return it or sell it as an impaired proof or bullion I would not grade it as it is throwing money away. You could post some close up pics on thesilverforum and get some real life opinions first though.
Question for you Numi... why would one need to buy both the Sapphire Jubilee and Platinum Anniversary Sovereigns to complete the 2017 year type set if they’re both EXACTLY the same design? It’s just the label/day of strike that differs, nothing else. IMO anyone who buys both has wilfully permitted themselves to be conned :)
They are both separate issues and carry forward the same philosophy as since 2013 where the actual coin is not different rather the celebration 🎉 is different. It’s a matter of judgement I guess. For me you would definitely have to have both but there is no big deal about having a set so it doesn’t matter that much.
It reminds me of that whole thing where American Eagles (if I remember right) don't normally have a mint mark, but someone figured out that the boxes they come in give away the mint that they originate from. To me, normally, if there's no physical difference in the coins it's not worth collecting them separately-although if it involves an interesting provenance or their being salvaged from a shipwreck or something, I'll potentially make an exception for that.
guigal2 Exactly the way I think too. And it’s the same reason I don’t care much about stuff like NGC’s Early Releases label nonsense. Honestly, if a coin has a certain grade, IMO why should it matter whether it was struck first or last or whenever? But to each their own :)
Numistacker I double checked the closed auction. Expert priced it EUR 700-800. Highest bid 520 EUR. Was below reserve. Was a pr70 ultracameo. 200 year jubileum. First 150 struck.
got a sapphire jubilee strike on the day sovereign , very disappointed as looks just like a ordinary sovereign nothing to really make it stand out as a special. but great video again , keep them comming

The Sovereign was certainly 2017’s coin of the year! I got my hands a couple, but wish I had got them all! Great video!
Cull Silver I hope they don’t keep doing this or it could get expensive )) god help us when the new king takes over
Again another great video. My curiosity for sovereigns is blooming!
Great pickups, they are beautiful! Thanks for the show Numi.

How many have you procured since this comment 5 years ago? Are you even alive?

How do I go about getting coins graded
To you is there a way you can do for me get them graded

Great video I didn't know there were so many different versions.
It was a very busy year
Lovely coins, I didn't know there were so many editions. I think the two coins that are exactly the same is a bit of a con.
what quintuple sovereign's have you ever seen one of those?
Also do you have any old ragged gold coins, i.e not special proofs.
Numi what's the going rate in US dollars for those sovereign coins
Expected you to review the 1/4 sov of 2017 which turned out as you said a rare find I bought all I could find you just focused on the diff types not the sizes I understand vid was getting long
I am not a great fan of the 1/4oz 2017 though it’s better than the 1/4 of other years.. Love the 1Sov and 2Sov PF
Been after one of these all year, just got my hands of 1 of 6 Trial of the Pyx £5 2017 sovereign, well happy from the royal mint.........Now all gone.

I did bid for the pistrucci recently and ....lost ....big time. In an auction. Went away for EUR 750.
What one went for €750?

I wish I could buy any of those. Too rich for my blood LOL
Correction : I should leave it alone.
I will trade you a proof Silver Eagle dated 2000 for any coin you just showed.
Just joking , very fine coins you have sir.
I personally will not buy any of these coins simply because they are not pure gold.
