@@johnpoteat9774 You are right but I always liked the 11/16" or 3/4" cove molding better. Looks different and more finished to me. Don't know why more people don't use it.
Quick painters tip....If you're going to use tape as a means for a finished edge, use green frog tape instead of that cheap blue tape. Frog tape doesn't bleed on the edge. 👍
Wow, Wow, Wow, you and your father have done absolutely Amazing Restoration job on your 1973 GMC Motorhome! I cannot wait until the next episode to see what you accomplish next on your Motorhome! Well done to both You and Your Father!😊
Heck yeah! Getting a donor is better than buying all the pieces separately. I converted a 6V beetle to 12V using a trashed donor beetle I got for $150. I sold parts off it and sold what was left to the junkyard. I actually made money off that deal
You're both doing an awesome job, and more importantly, the energy you exude when working together is so soothing to watch. Father and son, good buddies having a nice time together. Truly inspiring!
Michael, in my eyes, you and Dad are amazing in using your down-to-earth skills to restore this old American relic! Can't wait to see the family on the first camping trip!
I just bought a 1986 ford Travelcraft RV. And am starting to do the same thing. I’m definitely gonna need a new roof but I’m just ripping all the interior out. I’m keeping the fridge, stove, bathtub and 2 sinks. But other than that everything else is coming out. I didn’t even think about wrecked campers. That’s smart for the materials you reused! I’ll keep that in mind!
Love this build, guys! Skoolie owner here who built our entire bus ourselves. Totally can relate to how these builds mushroom and grow and just how much work these can be. It all looks AWESOME!! Keep up the great video, folks!
For someone who insists they don`t know what your doing I would love to see what you can do when you do ! better than any factory fit classiest GMC on the road when your done excellent work .
This RV is the coolest thing ever! The hard work is paying off. Especially when you hand the kids the house, and you and the miss ride off into the sunset with it knowing exactly what its bones are. It's awesome and I'm in.
Such a great job you are doing 950 for that broken camper was the best 950 ever spent I think for all the great stuff it is giving you for this thing I would think once done you can strip off the camper top from the chassis and make yourself a trailer from the chassis and have a double win Fantastic Michael and dad 😍😍😍🇦🇺
I haven't been subscribed to the channel for long, but after stumbling across you guys after watching Vice Grip Garage, Dylan McCool Junkyard Digs etc, you guys are quickly becoming the favourite. What you do with all of the old cars you rescue is amazing. How you just use what you have is brilliant. In the UK we just don't seem to have access to the 70s and 80s cars of my youth as they are out of reach for most people on pricing. The way you guys are so informative and also so humble in your approach to fixing these forgotten gems is such a breath of fresh air. Getting the whole family involved as well is a joy to see. Thank you fellas for doing this and putting out these great videos.
That camper has turned out great. I can’t believe you done such a good job. You really are doing it right. Anyone would be proud to own it and you should be very proud and Dad too.
This channel has come such a long way from what it started out as.. Congrats, you and your dad are doing a remarkable job on that Camper, and all you other projects.
Great job guys, it's coming along nicely. One thing you will need to address is ventilation for the fridge. It's basically inside an airless cupboard, and the heat which fridges produce from the refrigeration cycle needs to be able to escape. If it can't, it will cause the fridge to run for much longer than necessary (very inefficient) and that can result in the compressor overheating or burning out. What you need is a vent to the outside (a hole in the wall behind the fridge at the bottom near the compressor) with a grill over it on the outside and another vent to the outside near the top of the fridge with a grill on the outside. The vent at the top can benefit from having a couple of fans added to it to expel the hot air outside. The idea is cold air gets drawn in through the bottom vent then circulates around the fridge with the hot air escaping out the top vent. I have added these vents on a number of RV conversions and it makes a big difference. If you look at most other RVs you will see they use a similar venting arrangement.
I know you could of found another motor home cheaper with less remolding, but restoring this antique is more satisfying knowing that you did it your way.
It's a better vehicle then it was new. 👍 I bet a cheap paintless dent removal kit for a car could get the dents out of the fridge easily. Then the fridge look new. Saw kits super cheap online.
Michael, you often comment that neither you nor your dad “know what you’re doing” i.e. not professionals, but you do a mighty fine job nevertheless, each episode on this motor home rejuvenation is an absolute joy to watch 👍👏🙂
Well I’ve learned alot. Thanks for sharing every bit of this. What a blast this will be for your family and them knowing that dad and grandpa did it. Bravo
Can't wait to see the living room couch bed and the bed mattress in back room installed Rv washer and spin dryer combo a must very cheap on eBay $75 to $130 they work great 👍
So stoked every time you guys upload a new installment. I thought in the beginning you were using that pocket hole jig on plywood, I was thinking: "well those cabinets will be kindling in about 30 miles" lol! Glad to see you used solid wood. Counter top came out SPECTACULAR! Looking forward to the finish, but not in any hurry for y'all to get there!
Amazing! That motorhome is coming along rapidly - would love to see the cj5 cleaned up! And that Mercedes 280sl in the background is such a tease, yer killing me!
Excellent video Budget Buildz Mike :) , your dad are making looks like full Restoration to 1973 GMC Motorhome and so nice work both did too in parts plus big time steps!
Awesome work and it looks great. Thank you for taking us along on this project. I always look forward to your next video, on this or other projects. Keep having fun and I look forward to the video of your family going on their first adventure in this RV.
If you're willing to share, I think a lot of us would be interested to know the total cost of this project when you're all done. You've definitely got the sweat-equity covered!
Fantastic, nicely done boys! Came to this channel for 911s and old junk cars... now I'm loving watching carpentry and plumbing? Whatever... keep the awesome work coming!
You can usually swap the hinge sides on those fridges. Would be much more usable if the doors opened the other way. 👍🏻
I came to make the same comment. Also a little quarter round tacked to the bottom of the cabinets will hide those paint bleeds on the new floor.
Yep, it would be much better opening the other way.
Yes. Do it. Your life in the kitchen will be better for it.
Too bad about all the dents in the freezer door.😕
@@johnpoteat9774 You are right but I always liked the 11/16" or 3/4" cove molding better. Looks different and more finished to me. Don't know why more people don't use it.
For a couple of guys who don't know what you're doing a MAGNIFICENT Job !!
I 2nd that!
Thanks so much!! 😊
Ain’t it true
That $100 butcher block counter top with the sealant coating looks amazing!
Quick painters tip....If you're going to use tape as a means for a finished edge, use green frog tape instead of that cheap blue tape. Frog tape doesn't bleed on the edge. 👍

Youre doing a great job, buying the damaged camper was an inspired move.
Thank you!! 😃
How did you find the “totaled”trailer deal?
Heck yeah! Getting a donor is better than buying all the pieces separately. I converted a 6V beetle to 12V using a trashed donor beetle I got for $150. I sold parts off it and sold what was left to the junkyard. I actually made money off that deal
I think he said they bought it from CoPart...they sell wrecked vehicles and such for cheap.
@@shawnderrick1952thank you.
For amateurs, the two of you guys did a great job so far, nice work.
Thank you!! 😊
One of your best videos to date. Long time fan. Love this progress. Live the quality time with you and your dad.
You're both doing an awesome job, and more importantly, the energy you exude when working together is so soothing to watch. Father and son, good buddies having a nice time together. Truly inspiring!
Raise your kids right, they become adults you like to hang out with
Really appreciate how well you n your dad work together 😊
I gauss the factory built was not detailed like yours. You are talented person. Amazing job dad and son. Thank you !!
I love the look of that countertop with the coating. Shiny!
'Don't know what you're doing'?! Its fabulous! Better than factory. It will be an awesome van.
Came for the Porsche and MG stuff.
Stayed for the random Motorhome rebuild.
Didn’t think I’d be so invested, but here I am!
The motor home is going to be a lot prettier and more functional than it was from the factory!
Looks great! What you're doing is far better than the current state of RV construction. They are mostly just cheap, glued together junk nowadays...
Wow this camper is coming along very nice, I see this staying in your family for a long time fun adventure for your family thank you for sharing
You have the most exciting RUclips channel and projects out there! Thank you for entertaining us 🙏🏻Greetings from France 🇨🇵
Thank you so much!!! We really appreciate the kind words and are very glad you’re enjoying! Thanks you for the support! ☺️☺️
This thing is so great! Crazy how much value you guys got out of the copart camper. So blessed to be able to work with your dad. God bless!

Your workmanship is Excellent! I am so proud of the work you both are performing. Thank you for including us on your journey.

White and wood always looks good and never goes out of style. Nice job! ❤️🇨🇦
Very, very interesting! Thanks for the adventure!
One of my favorite jobs when I was an RV tech was custom cabinets. Unfortunately most people didn't want to pay for that particular skill
Finally. That's what the people like!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Yea, i sub’d for this project specifically.

Great job, amazing transformation of the kitchen area, 🤝 well done gentlemen! 👍
You two are doing a fantastic job on the RV reno.
Looks great! Really enjoy watching you and your dad work together.
Looks fantastic. Enjoying watching this beast come together. Keep it coming.
I think the white cabinets and the butcher block looks perfect! Timeless!! Great looking kitchen and another great video guys!!!
Nice work. Really outstanding restoration.
That is far more work than we saw and wait, it’s looking professional too. Really looking good and extensive progress y’all have made.

Great talking with you guys this week. I hope to see that finished in time for Helen next year. Would be awesome to see that at the campsite.
The camper is looking great!! You guys are doing a fantastic job!
What a good job, I like it. Your dad and you are as strong in carpentry as in plumbing or mechanics , Amazing work. Et voilà 👍
I have also Impressed myself with pocket holes. Yeah I used a kit. Still Impressive
Great job .The effort you put in is showing.
Amazing work if you take a little 0000 steel wool and glass cleaner to those windows they will brand new
👏Fantastic. Really enjoying this build. The white looks really clean and fresh and will make the whole van look bigger on the inside.
I love watching this build, great job!
Michael, you and Dad are doing an awesome job. I say the outside still looks original. Let the inside be as modern and comfy as you want!
I know you could of found another motor home cheaper with less remolding, but restoring this antique is more satisfying knowing that you did it your way.
Really?
"Don't know what we are doing"
Proceeds to completely transform this RV into a thing of beauty! Great work, I seriously can't wait to see it finished.
It looks amazing, guys! Great job.
I use my Kreig jig all the time, great choice!
This has been a great rebuild. Enjoy watching them.
When I built the interior of my camper those pocket drills and screws were the best thing ever! So easy to use and keep joints square etc.
It's a better vehicle then it was new. 👍 I bet a cheap paintless dent removal kit for a car could get the dents out of the fridge easily. Then the fridge look new. Saw kits super cheap online.
It’s looking amazing , beautiful work guys . Thanks for another , Brothers !!
One of my top 5 favorite builds on RUclips right now. Just loving this series!
Nice to see, father and son who have the same passion and work so well together, I love it, greetings from Belgium
You're bringing back a classic motorhome from the nearly dead with family. That's a win in my book

Love it yall are really making a 70s motor home modern but with some retro
Well I’ve learned alot. Thanks for sharing every bit of this. What a blast this will be for your family and them knowing that dad and grandpa did it.

Looking Schmick!
Happy trails, Cowpokes
It is a joy to watch the progress of your family travel trailer. Great job
GMC motorhome... all the glass is fantastic.
Loving this build. I hope you don't regret not leaving a removable joint in the plumbing drains.

It's so satisfying seeing the wrecked matchbox camper parts repurposed into this awesome motorhome.

I have loved this build.. thanks for taking us on your journey with pops...
I have really enjoyed this build. Thank you.
Darn. You and your father are amazing craftsmen!
You guys aren't afraid to tackle anything which makes it all worth watching. Good job!
Coming along nicely. I suggest using silicone caulking around some of the wood fittings. Just so your wood work may better resist mold from moisture.
Amazing job guys, I'm learning a lot and getting great ideas for my projects. Thanks much.
Now you see the result of all the hard work, really love the makeover of the camper. 🇳🇱

30:50 wow. looks good. love the style & execution
some dark grey tones would balance the white and looks calm and cool..
