I bought the newer models where you slide the door open and had this one the longest. I remember when I got the original on amazon all those years ago...memories. :D
My word the lid on that PS3 60gb is so immaculate it looks like a mirror. I downgraded to a slim PS3 move bundle after my replacement PS3 from Sony died. I remember at the time, Sony was like we will give you a brand new PS3 or a refurbished one. The only difference was the new PS3 didn't have all the extra ports and card readers. Plus the new one didn't have Emotion Engine so I went with the refurb instead. Tbf to Sony it also looked new and was factory fresh. It lasted quite a while but it YLOD and I was still able to sell it for enough to buy a brand new PS3 slim. The PS3 slim is still going strong today.
I had a white 20gb straight from Japan. I had to boot the PS3 up with an English update because everything was in Japanese. X is O when playing games, not on the controllers but options in games. It's always X to select but using a Japanese one, it O instead of X
Nice dude, that's pretty much exactly how I'd want my office/game museum room to look if I had a house and higher income. Love the LED shelves with the black felt, looks great
Just a little info on 3:21, because of the year/month/date format that Japan uses and the fact that some stores (like Yamada Denki, where the 60GB console is from) uses Japanese era years on their stamp instead of Gregorian years, the 60 GB console was purchased on February 7th, 2007 (2007 is Heisei 19, which is why the 19 was written first on the stamp). Also, the 60GB console is from Yamada Denki's Techland Moji store from Kitakyushu, Fukuoka, and the 20GB console is from Yodobashi Camera's Kawasaki LeFront store from Kawasaki, Kanagawa. Hope this could help, and enjoy those nice consoles!
No doubt these are in my opinion the sexiest consoles ever released by man. All that shiny reflective plastic and smooth curves really does give it a premium feel to match its launch price. Gorgeous!
Loveee the PS3 design. Definitely the best console design imo, I never got the people who called it a George Forman grill. Your cabinet display looks immaculate & sexy!
I remember buying my first 60gb ps3 on early 2007. That rumbling bug definitely there back time, i need to wait for more than 1 hours back then after buying it because the staff needs unbox and update its firmware to remove the bug. Man, watching your video always reminds me about good ol' times.
My OG 60g PS3 fatboy is my baby. Still my most used and loved console and I have all of them. And the picture quality looks phenomenal on my 4k tv with no upscaling. True 1080p still looks great 👍
Always wanted a 20gb...That all black looks the best IMO. Super clean design anyway, and then put it in all black. Just missing too many features. No WIFI while not a big deal now, would've been tough back then. I finally bought a PS3 when MGS4 came out. Really wanted the Gray MGS4 one, but yeah $$$$...Ended up with the cutback 40gb. But it lasted me for about 3yrs before YLOD'ing. Got it working just long enough to trade it in on a Slim, that I've now owned for 12yrs. Still works like the day I bought it.
man I remember working all summer as a student and paying for $800 PS3 60gb with sd card slots and 4 usbs back in 2007. and the only they had one game and that was oblivion. so came out $900, and only a few bucks left for a whole bunch of munchies. oh what simple times. will always remember that day.
I've been thinking about doing this for awhile because I think a brand new Fat PS3 in white would look awesome. Everything I've bought used from Japan so far has been pristine; They really take care of their stuff so well. Even though they take such good care of their stuff, I still have the itch for a brand new one for the same reasons: A perfect, untouched, and fresh console just has a certain magic to it.
I still would absolutely love to have a brand new sealed OG PS3 because i never got to buy PS3 at launch so i had to settle for the 360 because it was cheaper but still amazing console
@@ChrisThePlayer777 I can definitely recommend it! If you're looking for one that's new, or like new condition may as well check overseas. The prices are better and it'll almost certainly be in better condition than a NA console. JP has cool colorways and limited editions that we didn't get either.
I still have my 40gb ps3 model which i still play from time to time for trophies. My sliver fat ps2 which i got off ebay not too long ago. My launch ps4 which is still connected to my tv but never played it in months and my launch ps5 which i play every day. Playstation ftw

Here's my life story about the PS3: I was in Grade 2 back in 2012, and i had been asking my mother to buy me a PS3 after seeing it at my friend's house. Until one day when I came back home from school, there it was on the counter looking AMAZING! It was a PS3 slim bundle that came with God Of War 3, Modern Warfare 3 and Gran Turismo 5. I was so happy at that moment until my mother broke my heart and told me that it wasn't for me. It was for one of her business partners in the Congo. After hearing that, I went through the 5 stages of grief. However on Christmas (I think) she bought a PS2 and it became my favorite console ever! A Heartbreaking story that always had me asking: "What If...?"
As much as you may have mentioned in previous videos why the Sixaxis was included at launch and DualShock 3 came later I would’ve appreciated a quick mention of it in this video.
I plan on getting the 20gb model without the Wi-Fi because I just want to play both ps2 and ps3 games, I’m not looking to use the internet or anything like that.
Ive owned every PlayStation and I have soooo much history with everyone minus PS5 I only finally got last month month but the PS3 is my favorite also even though I love them all. I'm really enjoying my PS5 these days tho...
Cool to see the 20GB, I'm not sure if we ever got that model here in the UK. By the time I bought my PS3, it was 18 months since the UK release (22months US/JP), by then the PS2 compatibility was gone. But so was the high price tag, it launched in the UK at £425, but by the time I got my 80GB (bundle with 2nd controller & MGS4), I paid about £330. It would have been nice to have had PS2 compatibility, but even in the 4 months between US/JP launch & UK, I believe it was already software rather than hardware BC.
The UK got the 60GB backwards compatible model briefly. The 20GB was planned to release in the UK and EU but the delayed launch was just after the 20 was discontinued I think. Didn’t take long for the 60GB to be replaced by the 40GB without backwards compatibility and then the 80GB. Pretty much had every single model apart from the 20GB.
@@scbond The 60GB in Europe/UK was the 80GB is the US. The RAM and CPU were fully software emulation so compatibility was at ~80%. It improved over the years through the early firmware updates.
this is really cool to see, i figure this is as good a place as any to share i just recently resurrected a 40GB model from the dead, had YLOD, did the heat gun reflow method expecting it to not work at all, and for like 3 months now this PS3 works like new. so cool to see a brand new one tho

I bought the newer models where you slide the door open and had this one the longest. I remember when I got the original on amazon all those years ago...memories. :D
Bro cant stop buying ps3s
I want one of those original PS3 backwards compatible for my collection.
The best console ever made.
Oh my gosh, mom, I want to go to the Mystic video game museum
Hell yeah, I remember getting my 60GB BC model back in 2007 from Circuit City. I wish I still had it
the original ps3 models had such a premium feel to them
Nice dude, that's pretty much exactly how I'd want my office/game museum room to look if I had a house and higher income. Love the LED shelves with the black felt, looks great
Please do noise measurements. I need to know how loud these were supposed to get out of the box.
My box is 16, does that mean 2006?
No doubt these are in my opinion the sexiest consoles ever released by man. All that shiny reflective plastic and smooth curves really does give it a premium feel to match its launch price. Gorgeous!
I bought my ps5 in Japan in 2020 I was shocked to see it didnt have a sticker seal on it!
TIL there was a 20 gb version. I had the 60 gigs one but it died on me by about 2012 I want to say. Always had good times with this machine.
I love when u bring up the og ps3s
True 1080p still looks great 👍
the 7th generation of consoles was simply the best!
I remember getting mine for 40 bucks lol when stores were trying to get rid of them
man I remember working all summer as a student and paying for $800 PS3 60gb with sd card slots and 4 usbs back in 2007. and the only they had one game and that was oblivion. so came out $900, and only a few bucks left for a whole bunch of munchies. oh what simple times. will always remember that day.
Christmas 2007 my brother got the ps3 with Skate, NBA 2K7, Madden 08, & Marvel UA. Miss the PS3 & 360 Days....
@@PowerSynopsis good thing PS3 is region free so i might get a Japanese version brand new
@@PowerSynopsis i dont know if the grey fat PS3 is japanese only but that console is the most gorgeous thing on the planet
Still have my 80gb ps3 and it still works alongside my ps5 og
Ryan you are the absolute king of PlayStation content. Much love for the videos you make not only for me but for the PlayStation community.
I had the 60Gb one for the first 10 years until I got the Yellow light of death. I then got the Slim and still have it
I was shocked when I read the title, I thought sony released new ps3's. But I'm jealous, i've always wanted one of the original chunky ps3s
I still have my 40gb ps3 model which i still play from time to time for trophies. My sliver fat ps2 which i got off ebay not too long ago. My launch ps4 which is still connected to my tv but never played it in months and my launch ps5 which i play every day. Playstation ftw
So many memories with the ps3 especially opening the box to my 80gb and LBP
That console hated black ops 2. It used to turn mine off after playing it for 2 minutes. Traded it in for a 360. Sad in the end because I loved my ps3
Ps3 version 1 is quite literally my favourite console of all time. Enjoy it dude 😊
I still remember unboxing my 60gb model for my birthday back in the day.
I still have my 60GB PS3, still working just fine, I bought it in 2007, a few months before the 80GB came out. I don't use it much anymore, but until I got a PS4, it's gotten heavy use
I love the Spider-Man “PlayStation 3” logo that flashes up for 1 sec when you launch a PS3 game. So sad that later firmwares removed that ….
Dude, can you leave some of those backwards compatible playstations for the rest of us 😂 ? You have like 50% of the world’s supply of those
I bought one on launch day back in the good old days and took me almost 15 years later to find out you can turn the little PS logo on the disk drive 😂
Yeah I didn't notice that till last yr for my ps2 slim.
Even the ps2 slim! Wish I still had it but ex never gave it back 😂
Beautiful console always loved it..
Here's my life story about the PS3:
I was in Grade 2 back in 2012, and i had been asking my mother to buy me a PS3 after seeing it at my friend's house.
And then the PS4 came out in 2013
@@TheUncleSpiderX yep
As much as you may have mentioned in previous videos why the Sixaxis was included at launch and DualShock 3 came later I would’ve appreciated a quick mention of it in this video.
I still have my fat PS3 i have mine in storage would love to turn it back on one day
I plan on getting the 20gb model without the Wi-Fi because I just want to play both ps2 and ps3 games, I’m not looking to use the internet or anything like that.
Mystic’s bank account after buying these consoles: 👁️ 👄 👁️
Next you need a launch vanilla xbox 360 they are really cool
Glorious PS3s 🎉
The all black on the 20g model is something I never realized growing up😭
Don‘t forget to replace the thermal paste with some fresh artic mx6 👍
I love the OG PS3 model. 🔥🔥Resistance Fall of man is my favorite hope to see Insomniac Games make a comeback to the series.
Ps3 forever I also like your cat!😅
DualShock 3 is my favorite controller
I always wanted a phat PS3, i got the 1st generation ps3 slim and 1st game was fallout 3 game of the year edition. Such good times.
You dont what them they are the best looking PS3 but very unreliable
Would love to see someone take a broken fat ps3 and make a sleeper pc out of it. Such a good looking console.
You should repaste the SoC with high quality thermal paste, Icant imagine the original paste still being any good.
I miss my 20GB PS3 so bad! I LOVED the all black look of it.
I still have my 60gb model, which i purchased at launch.
this is really cool to see, i figure this is as good a place as any to share i just recently resurrected a 40GB model from the dead, had YLOD, did the heat gun reflow method expecting it to not work at all, and for like 3 months now this PS3 works like new. so cool to see a brand new one tho
Thank you for this video!! Im a nerd when it comes to console history and this ps3 design is legendary. That box is in better condition than both my Series X box and PS5 box. Series X box had a dent on the corner from shipping and im okay with that as the console was not damaged and i dont display boxes but man that box looks clean. Really appreciate this because you dont do it for money you do this for you and us and i thank you because you probably spent alot of money on them. You only live once so enjoy them! I own all platforms and Xbox is my main one so if you do Xbox content like evolution of game cases for example i would watch in a heartbeat. I find this so interesting
The original ps3 is my favorite console design ever
Mostly a xbox player over here, BUT! I just bought a CECHA01 model! One day before the 17 year anniversary! Never owned a ps3, since it was during the financial crisis 😭 now at 27 I'm only really missing is the wii u and dreamcast!
Cool blast from the past! I kinda miss my OG 60GB model. Oh how time flies...
