I'm glad you are happy with your purchase. I'm an OGD fan. Been drinking it since 1977 when both the drinking age and I were 18. While I'm curious, I just won't pay that much for a consumable. Cheers. 🥃😎
I truly believe this is fantastic whiskey. The orange creamsicle note on the nose is incredibly unique and difficult to find in such concentration. Is it worth $180 for those not looking to sit with a glass for an hour? HELL NO. But for those who enjoy dissecting the nose and palate, this is fantastic. You won't convince me else wise, Ive drunk too much whiskey to think otherwise lol
I love OGD. But I just can't pull the trigger on this one. It's available here, but when my favorite mom and pop store that comes through for me with the FOMO releases highly recommends that I skip this one based on their feedback.... Anyway, I'm glad that you like it, or at least trying to talk yourself into liking it. Cheers!
Admittedly only ever been in one rickhouse (Driftless Glen), and it smelled kind of like an empty glencairn (which also makes me think of what I imagine a whiskey-scented yankee candle would smell like)
Many like the Hardin's Creek similar to but aged more than the regular Old Grand-Dads. I prefer the 100 proof Old Grand-Dad aged 4 years. I bought a bottle of the 114 and liked it less, even though it is higher proof and more money than the 100 proof. I am a big fan of whiskeys made in Clermont and Louisville, Kentucky.
Great video Ben! Your B roll game is on point. This one hit me a bit different - I thought it had some sweeter notes. To me it hit orange, vanilla and oak - kinda like a orange creamsicle. Liked the flavor profile, but the finish was flat. Cheers buddy!
Thanks! Unfortunately, the music I use for my b roll just recently went from royalty free to being copyrighted. So now I have to figure something else out.
Nice review! Personally I don’t have the interest for this bottle. I like my Knob Creek 18yr 130.00 & Hardin’s Creek Clermont 170.00 much better. I would probably pull the trigger on an Old Overholt 10 or 11yr before this bottle. Cheers to those who are enjoying it!
Thanks for the review. It isn't even a temptation for me and I have already passed on it. I just have never been an OGD fan (or Baker's for that either). They are just spice bombs with no sweetness to provide balance for my palate. I am glad Beam put out this bottle but it's just not for me.
it seems this one is suited to a very specific taste profile. I have seem mostly bad reviews for this one. I'm very much someone that prefers a balanced to sweet bourbon so I know this one is a pass for me.
I'm not a fan of spicy bourbons. It's a Cool looking bottle, but I can't justify that price Glad you like it. 🥃

I enjoy the OGD 16 and it is very flavorful for 100 proof. All the haters can hate. I bought a backup for $189. 🥃

KC 18 $160, OGD 16 $200.? Would like to try it sometime but have no FOMO for this bottle.

Great Bottle of Bourbon, well worth the $200 to me , actually I had to get a backup 👍😉💯
Glad you liked it!

I thoroughly enjoyed OG 16yr, but I dont think anything is worth $200
For $200 I'm not buying OGD!! Especially at 100 proof
