I was really concerned when you cut the outer quarters off. After seeing the store bought inner panels installed I could see you were on track. I was really impressed with mounting the floor plans to the frame and jacking the ass. up to the existing shell. Least amount of handling best reattachment. The quarters looked great ! ! ! Rockers door gaps, You and your pals should be very very proud ! ! ! You demonstrated the best procedure to accurately perform that level of panel replacement. I love it. I love it ! ! !
Rust is the nemesis of old cars, it's a lot of work even with just a little rust. So kudos to you for repairing all that rust on this car, well wishes from Sweden!
that's what these cars are made for! they're built with being able to be disassembled and reassembled by their owners! That's the way everyone did it before the internet!
Was listening to your commentary and the 57 frames are different then the 55 56. The frame horns turn together to form a box for the 57 big bumper weight and the 55 56 inner braces turn out. I had to piece in half a 55 frame for my narrowed rear 57 frame and found out. I did save the 57 frame horns but will cut them off the 55 where it narrows to 3 inches square and weld in 3 inch square tubing to support the weight of the 57 bumper. You did a great job. I replaced the firewall with a smooth one and the floor next. I made the same body support so thanks for the idea Danny.
Nice work my friend, I myself am doing a frame off resto to a 57 210 2 door sedan....my dream car,ive got about $50,000 in it so far and counting...love it!
Wow! Nice job! Man that's a lot of work. I've replaced some braces and rockers on my'57 but nothing like you are doing. My hat is off to you! Good luck! Looking forward to watching your progress.
Good video! I've done both frame-on and full frame-off jobs (which is a lot more work), and I must say that in many cases (California-Arizona cars, for example) a full frame-off is quite a bit of work, costly, and not really necessary; especially for a driver car. I say this only because I know more than a few people who sadly began a frame-off project, found out too late it was more than they could chew, and the vehicle ended up in a scrap heap. One needs to count the cost ahead of time.
a few years ago i bought a rot box 69 camaro i now have a beautifull hugger orange 69 z28 i was lucky to find 3 350 4-bolt cores a set of 202 angle plug heads my dad got from the tonawanda motor plant in the early 70s
You will, I have to wait until this spring to finish as I'm a 100% disabled vet and I can't work on it in the cold. Thanks for watching my vidio. Danny
It's a great job. You've been very handy. These cars deserve to be saved. The panels you got are the same gage as the original sheet metal? How are the stamp detail and fitness? Keep doing that good job and publish more photos.
Hey there Danny. I just used all my money to get a 57 chevy myself for my 16th birthday! It came in a similar condition to yours. If there’s any way we could stay in touch I would love to, I have many questions for you!
great video, im working on a belair myself, same deal frame off but i was curious as to how you lined everything up as far as the door gaps go, where did you find your dimensions

Absolutely wonderful job. I show my wife this as I keep tearing mind down. By the way all tri 5 frames are not the same. The hardtop have extra mount.
great job... nothing better then to have your buddies hanging out and helping.
I am impressed, nice effort and proof that a rough car can be brought to life again.
At least your hangin with your mates having a beer while bringing the beast back to life well done
Lucky to have friends who support the 57 build. I'm on a 55 build and all by myself lol. Great work and godspeed.
Wish I had friends that close to help this vet do the same thing to his Monte Carlo. Looks great keep it up
Great Job Danny and friends I personally fixing to do the same thing to my 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Sedan that has been in my Garage since 1977,

That wooden frame is a great idea. I may make one to do the floors in my '51 Bel Air

I'd love to do that to mine but I don't have the money or talent
you better have 1999 hrs to build this and 50,ooo in it will never be show car hope you are doing it your self and have some car skills good luck
I bought the panels from a guy in Calhoun Georgia his number is 706 625-4518 It was the cheapest prices I found.
It's a process! Great images! We're restoring a 57 Chevy as well. Subscribe to my channel and I'll return the favor!
sent it to foose to build it for you will have a bill 100.000 and that not the paint ex
Why didn't you just buy a nice '57?
Someone's gotta do the dirty work.
Body off not frame off. The body comes OFF the FRAME ! 😲
But the frame also comes off the body? 🤷
Nice work you should check out my video it's called my rusty 57 chevy hotrod
NOT a Bel Air.
