FOX enrolls at Rydell High with GREASE: LIVE, a LIVE one-night musical production of the massively popular crossover musical “Grease.”
GREASE: LIVE stars Julianne Hough (“Safe Haven,” “Rock of Ages”) as the angelic “Sandy” - Rydell High’s most talked-about newcomer - and Aaron Tveit (“Graceland,” “Les Miserables”) as bad boy “Danny Zuko,” Also tapped to star are Vanessa Hudgens (Broadway’s “Gigi,” “Spring Breakers”) as iconic bad girl “Rizzo,” Keke Palmer (SCREAM QUEENS, “Masters of Sex”) as the sassy Pink Lady “Marty Maraschino” and Carlos PenaVega (“Big Time Rush”) as “Kenickie,” Danny’s tough-guy sidekick.
Featuring a young ensemble cast, GREASE: LIVE will reintroduce and reimagine some of the show’s most memorable moments, great music and timeless love story to an entirely new generation. In this live television adaptation of the musical classic, the beginning of senior year means the end of Danny and Sandy's summer romance - until Sandy unexpectedly transfers to Danny’s high school. Can Danny maintain his bad-boy image as the coolest member of the T-Birds, once he and Sandy start going together, and can Sandy remain a good girl after she joins the Pink Ladies? With their friends Rizzo and Kenickie pulling them in different directions, it’s up to Danny and Sandy to stay hopelessly devoted as they make their way from Rydell High to a new frontier.

It didn’t match the tone movie. BTM ignored the 1950’s sound for their 1990’s sound.
Max Meldrum I get on what you are saying but since this was aired in 2016 and it is quite modern they probably wanted to add a soulful move to it 😃

I'M WITH YOU!!!!! Except that I wouldn't have cut the song (switching leads)every line or 2. The song is long enough; it has 6 segments. Each guy could have taken a turn per verse/chorus. Except for that little detail, it was ABSOLUTELY LOVELY!!!!!

I love it because they are mirroring The Temptations, The Four Tops and other Motown doo-wop groups from the 50s/early 60s.
I know a lot of people didn't like this cover but honestly it's my favorite. I thought the riffs made it really unique and enjoyable.

Yes. The funniest thing is that in The Book Version of Grease narrarated by Sonny La Tierri a large majority of the Music they listened to excluding Elvis Presley & Jerry Lee Lewis the Music they listened to were R & B Doo Wop Groups, The Crests, Flamingos & Moonglows. Also about Two Years ago they were on a UK Morning Chat Show and serenaded the Co-Host Angela Griffin with "Open Arms" by Journey. The poor woman almost lost it. She was also on The UK Soap Opera Coronation Street as Fiona Middleton.
The 1990’s sound didn’t match the 1950’s theme of the movie.

I love R&B and Boys II Men. They are no Frankie Avalon and completely sucked. The song was mean to be sung by someone big in the era... Live didn't come out in the 90s and neither was the movie set in the 90s. Therefore poor choice. Originally they wanted Elvis in the 78 original. Come on. Not to mention as laminage states two years ago there was an r & b influence of the song in the book version but that wasn't why Frankie was chosen for this song. It was someone Frenchie found attractive and looked up to.

It was really cool to see them singing and dancing because they are known to be a dancing group. So I was surprised and enjoyed it very much!

What an Amazing version. They sound perfect in my opinion, all the right musical notes and perfect melody. I see people complaining but it’s very good. They sound more seasoned there and soulful.

I love this version of this song and it's my favorite song. The glee version is good too. I'd say they're pretty equal it's just that this one was live at night time while glee was recorded and mixed so it sounds good and smooth. So that's why people think the glee version is better but I prefer this one since it's live and has good harmony.

This version of Grease wasn’t **that** bad. This is coming from someone that adored the OG movie and it’s cast to bits and pieces. Boys II Men did a really good job with this song imo. They made it their own version, but it still held that dreamy yet alluring feel to it that the original also had.

This is a beautiful cover and the harmonies are so great! I can understand why it might hit some folks differently, though, because it is missing one factor that was in the 1970s film--Didi Conn was clearly enamored with Frankie Avalon, who sings *so* close to her face, lol. (Those goo goo-eyed faces she makes are for real!) So, it is missing that flirty factor, but musically speaking, both are great, just different feels!
