    Sure it’s not the most hype speed champions set, but the amount of detail and closeness to the OG car is amazing, and shows how Speech Champions just continues to figure out how to get even more amazing year after year. I’m not a big car guy but I always buy this theme because it’s that good!

    The printed brick with a sticker probably happened so they could reuse the same design for both sides, instead of having to make two versions with prints on opposing sides.

      That’s a really smart explanation!

      @gegessen159 Год назад +2

      printing on both sides are possible, see the 1x1 transparent brick in XL-15 Spaceship. But I agree with Filipe, it's two stickers less with one print without the need for two separate parts for left and right. Nice compromise

    i'm loving what they're doing with the speed champions theme, every new wave comes with really nice and useful improvements, they're keeping pushing the boundaries of what is possible on a 8 stud car

  • @NagaTen
    @NagaTen Год назад +39

    The new chassis is amazing!
    It's scary to think how fast they're developing this line though, because now at the 3rd wave of 8-wide, the two previous ones already feel dated and in need of improvement.

    • @wai0937
      @wai0937 Год назад +8

      This is the 4th wave, actually.
      It’s pretty great to see each subsequent year address criticisms from previous waves, ie. the Supra headlight stickers, the Lotus windshield printing, the Challenger’s squared roof. There’s constant evolution towards perfection in the smallest details and it’s really exciting.
      That said, I think there are several earlier wave sets that are near perfect and completely hold up against the current gen. For me that’s the Tributo, Hurican, Urus, GT Heritage, and even the Elva.

  • @AHYL88

    Not a fan of the styling of the real car this is based on, but I will very much LOVE the build process of this and the other Speed Champions sets. I've always been a fan of the Speed Champions line and how the designers managed to squeeze so much advanced stuff into a small model. Going forward, this theme has basically supplanted the Creator Expert/Icons line of the Vehicle Collection for me, which have got far too costly for me, and is only going to get rougher when the rumoured Land Rover Defender comes out.
    Speed Champions is relatively affordable and a lot less space demanding, yet still feels like an 18+ set without officially being one, because of the complex building techniques.

    I love everything about the Lego speed champions line. If I would add something more, it would be to have Lego give us more of a variety when it comes to the rim options. It seem like it’s the same rims over and over again. At least give us different color options. Maybe that is something lego could focus on for next years line.

    I like the overall design of the Ferrari 812 Competizione in real life. I think it looks pretty good, it might not be one of my favorite all time supercars. I might have chosen something else, such as a McLaren or a Lamborghini, as that would be more of a choice for me. However, I really do like the overall shaping and the body overall on this Ferrari 812, I think they really captured the look of it well, as it looks good from every angle with all of the significant details replicated. Thanks for another great review as always, keep up the great work.

    This set impressed me more than I expected it to. Some suggestions for improvement:
    1) The yellow stripe can be fully brick-built (for those, like myself, who detest stickers).
    2) The proportions can be improved by shifting the windscreen and slopes behind it forward by half a stud (the headrests are then lost but the interior is otherwise unaffected).
    3) The exhausts fit better connected to 1x1 SNOT bricks (replacing the headlight bricks and 1x1 round plates).
    4) An engine block will fit nicely in place of the yellow 2x3 brick in the front.

    I'm not a fan of stickers, like most, but the thing that is bothering me a lot with these newer Speed Champions is the manual not showing where the stickered pieces go until after you finish putting the bricks in place. You either have to stuggle to get them aligned on the model or take them off again. Jut show us where to put the stickers before we attach the bricks to the car.
    I've just finished building the last of my 2022 speed champions over this past weekend and am definitely looking forward to this years offering.

    I agree 100%. I would not give this car a second look as a standard model kit or a diecast replica say by Jada, but so many of these models, like that green Lotus was about the build and how neat it is that they reproduce the look than it is about love for the actual car.
    With Dom's 70 Charger and the 70 Challenger it was about both the love of the car and about the fun of the build.
    On that note, I just built Brian's Nissan Skyline. VERY cool! The graphics look great and the car itself looks amazing. Highly recommend it. If you can find one, GRAB IT because they sell out FAST!

    OMFG HELL YES!!!! That new cockpit design is finally gonna make creating Subaru STi's and Mitsubishi Evo's a dream come true, and all other performance Sedans too! Also, when creating a Coupe, you will have a ton more interior space for far more interior designs as well! I support this change!
    Also the new Fender piece is finally fixed! The top level can be Tiled and be even with the fender, FINALLY! Also, that corner piece won't be so annoying to get pieces into anymore as they used to have to angle the pieces in to not hit the edge of the fender itself! So glad this was addressed!
    I can't wait to see what they do next to make creating cars more fun, but any much more than this and these pieces will specifically be only for cars and lose the "any brick for anything" feel that LEGO is known for. Right now its all good things and all good changes as it still retains that feel, but if they do too much more then it will make these pieces feel difficult to use for anything other than a vehicle! I'm not sure if I would mind that or not, as vehicles are my favorite thing to create, but every LEGO brick has to have an open creativity to it, ya know? We shall see! but for now, DAMN FINE JOB FIXING THESE PIECES LEGO! THANK YOU!

    Thoughts on the new elements, car designs, etc: honestly so happy they made the chassis piece lower and brought in the new fenders as well. This was my number one gripe with the speed champions line, and they solved it perfectly. I think the next major problem to solve is the length of the car in front of the front wheel. Very often when you take a picture of the lego model's side profile and compare it with the real thing, the lego one is longer! Its a nice challenge for MOC builders, but i think lego is so close to getting perfection with these speed champions models now, they can definitely go the extra mile to finish rhe job. Lastly (i think this one is a stretch), lego could introduce new windscreen pieces which are more accurate to certain cars instead of using the generic one they've had now (some cars have slightly wider windscreens than others, like lamborghinis), but i definitely appreciate the two new windscreen pieces they already made for the pagani and solus/porsche. Overall though really happy with the rapid improvements from the designers.

    • @wai0937
      @wai0937 Год назад

      Agreed about the windscreens. They account for so much of a car’s iconic look that it’s probably impossible to find a mould that satisfies most applications.
      Lego are also stuck to system demands where the previous roofs either had to taper up to 6 studs or 4 to match existing elements. Really tricky. Will be interesting to see how they evolve this aspect of future cars.

    I like evolving the line and pieces for more utility. But I wish they would make all these revisions at the same time. It seems like every year they're changing something about the piece and design continuity that makes it hard for collecting and homogenization of the line.

    • @wai0937

      A lot of concerns aren’t apparent until the final models arrive and fans respond with criticisms.
      There are also budget and time considerations attached to new the development of new elements for each line.

    One thing that bothers me on this car, and it's the same on the Skyline, is that row of upside-down studs below the door sill. I get that you want the thin black line, and the little relief, but I wish there was a solution without those studs at the bottom.

    They should have added a license plate like irl on the black studs at the back

    This is my favourite set from this wave of sets. I can't wait for the review of the mclaren double pack. Do you think we will see more SUVs that will use the new chassis piece?

      I'm not super excited about SUVs but I'd love to see some off-road vehicles :)

    Man really found where the box art background is in irl, now I wonder why they chose Monaco not somewhere in Italy

    It's the new generation Bond car, with fire shooting exhaust 😁.
    Will I be adding it to my collection, of course I will. As always, your builds and opinions are greatly appreciated.

    It my opinion, they should stick with the stability of the build, based on what I've seen a lot of lego sets are stable even if there pretty much alike in the construction of detail of new speed champions sets

    This new wave is amazing. I’m going to guess that the 1x1 brick at the rear can’t be printed on two sides because the printing machine would have a very hard time printing the 2nd print on the correct side. Easier to print just the one side and let the builder apply stickers for right and left sides.

      If they can do two face prints exactly opposite each other on a round piece, surely they can print two sides of a square piece...
