I didn't know Bentleys could survive running 5,000 miles. Impressive.
Yeah they usually drive around, haven't seen many running but I guess it's fine after all.
Lol
If they're babied and kept up routinely they will last just alot of maintenence and can find one around that year model for 30 k
That how most luxury cars are. If you theat them like crap, of course they're gonna give you plenty of headaches. But if you take care of them like they're your own children, you won't always have your panic alarm activated 99% of the time.
They hand built, god dammit, they should run for days ?Wouldn't wanna know the thing when the day comes and it doesn't start etc😱😱😱.Wizard luv the content 💯💥💥🤛👊🤜
Very smart how they labeled those latches: "B" is for Bonnet and "B" is for Boot!
And this whole time I thought B was for British 🤣
The US market ones are labeled “H” and “T” for hood and trunk
@@apowers7783 😂
An insider joke at Bently is the rear B was for Beyonce, the design inspiration for this car.
@@andrewnorris5415 Is that insider spelling too?
This has become one of my favorite channels on RUclips! I even love Wizard's quirky sense of humor! And I love that we have gone from never seeing Mrs. Wizard to having her become an integral part of the channel... it would not be complete without her! Looking forward to the next purchase...
"I really enjoy working on these"....10 seconds later "These are not fun to work on" LOL
Cool car
Well, it’s a BIG BILL And that is always fun for the shop
Such a cool car 15 years later. Bentley really did a great job on this car.
I like cars
Great looking & performance but WHAT A TERRIBLY unreliable vehicle...LOL
@@mikenormandy9250 I guess if you are that rich to buy it you can handle it lmao
Agreeeeed it looks very timeless, some of the early 2000’s designs like this and TT + 350Z + new mini did a lot to drive forward visual design from the 90’s to now, also credit to mid 2000’s General Motors + Ford for the retro-futurism too
Not really good looking and it hasn't aged well.
It just made VW money
How can the brake pads be half gone at 5K?....I know its a heavy car but that's crazy.
Slowing down from 200 mph would age me and the brakes
Very soft but aggressive performance pads have a short life.
Also when a car sits a long time, the rotors get a layer of rust and when the pads scrape that layer off, it wears more pad away.
Sitting so long, plus pushing 15 years lol
Russian Gangster who knows how to clock (jk)
If you can afford a Bentley like that one, then 5K is nothing for parts to keep it on the road.
Never thought I'd see the day, the Bob Ross of cars starts laying bars.
When's the first album drop?
If i had the money to buy this car, i would buy something else.
Like any car that doesn't have the bare minimum of $1 per mile of operation.
during the 08 financial crisis, these and aston martin prices really took a nose dive
You are a wise person! I looked at the prices of these locally - 2005 model with 20,000km on the clock, around the same price as a brand new Kia Stinger GT 3.0T with factory warranty and the first 3 years servicing included... I'd take the Kia.
@@Beer_Dad1975 parts and maintenance .. running costs...
@@juki6377 Overly complex engineering, penny pinching on critical engine components...
I appreciate how Mrs Wizard has a solid segment doing the interiors! I have come to expect this element in these videos! Rock on, Mrs Wizard!
@@bricktonyb Wow, you are really reading a lot into a lot of nothing. How do you know he hasn't offered to let them be on more often and they said thanks but no thanks?
I love that you quoted that song. That song was epic back in the day.
Tavarish eventually finished the restoration of the car and sent it sailing. It looked good.
Having a Bentley you don't drive is the same as not owning a Bentley.
Yes what's the point to pay that much money and not drive it...unless your are collector.
Well, when you have a huge car collection like Jay Z does, it's actually hard to accumulate miles if you like a bit of driving variety.
Having a Bentley you drive yourself is the same as not owning a Bentley also.
@@PeugeotRocket I've got 10 vehicles I'm lucky to clock 500 to 1000 miles on any.
just buy a flatbed too and ride around on the back.
No normal Bentley owner is going to either read their owner’s manual or change a flat tire. If they happen to be inconvenienced by a flat tire, they simply call for help and let a service tech fix it.
I'd think replacing 9 year old tires would be cheaper than having one separate. That's probably a $10,000+ body shop bill.
I replaced the 17 year old original tires on my Impala SS for just that reason. No sense in having a dryrotted tire destroy the car.
6 to 7 years on my cars 4 on my bikes max tread irrelevant. Don't need to Paul walker my family.
@@philipparana9225 On cars that sit for long periods of time tires can dry rot from the inside and develop flat spots.
Nah, the insurance company would just total it. No bill at all. They total cars for a dent in the fender these days. Hardly any get repaired.
I know a guy with one of these who had the front right tire separate on the autostrada. By the time he managed to stop the car, it had done 75,000 euros in damage to the front end. I am not joking.
I love those old Bentleys ! They still look good for it’s age, especially the interior, it aged like fine wine.
I love that Wizard's collection is starting to rival Hoovie's in size. Between boats, cars, & motorcycles, Wizard is becoming a private fleet commander!
One of the best designed cars of the last 20 years. Perfekt proportions. Looks like the gentleman driver's muscle car...
They are classically beautiful …like a Ferrari 355.
Now I know you have to press the two buttons before you lift, but!! After the car is lowered do you have to do anything with the buttons?
Any cell phone from 2006 would only be a decoration by now.
Do you know what I love about your channel is that you get so in detail with the cars that you work on it helps us all especially me so I really appreciate that that’s why I love your videos I know I don’t comment or like all the videos but I do like them all I’m not really a computer person so I’m just learning how to hit the lake and making comments
We have the new ones at work all the time and the interiors are just lovely. Compared to many of its competitors, less blingy, just slightly understated and very high quality. Way better than say, astons DB11.
This car would have cost around $150,000 new in 2006. Now add in maintenance costs since then. And only driven 5000 miles? The cost per mile must be approaching that of Space Shuttle! The phrase "more money than sense" comes to mind.
There is a better use for money, that's for sure.
“Oh look it’s a Chevy cavalier” had me dying 😂
I bought a 10 years old BMW 7 series with 10k miles on the clock. Despite most people would think it was like new, time actually deteriorates cars as well. However in my opinion it is a way lighter damage than the one caused by driving it. That Bentley is a jewel
Happy to hear you like the Bentley GT.
That underside is extremely clean
😂
Nice spec here. Moonbeam Silver paint. Porpoise main leather with Imperial Blue accenting. Burl Walnut veneer. Loving this.
Wow you can read the brochure!! 🤣
@@eljoniz500 good luck finding a brochure 🤣 it’s a matter of knowing Bentley colors lol. But good one.
I swear some days I think Mrs. Wizard is just too good for you lol. I am so happy you two have the professional and loving relationship that you two seem to have. You both work so well together. Oh and the car is nice too lol
I had the opportunity to sit in a black continental at our local dealer in 07 when they were still new cars , the first thing I felt was the sheer heft of the door handle and the door itself and it was like stepping into another world with the leather and wood and the perceived richness of everything , these cars really give the feeling of a totally different quality of life even when they are used cars that are worth 30k today i love these cars 😍😍
Big color difference in that grille surround and the hood
It is a shadow.
OMG that Bentley is “mint” 👌🏽
Respect Car Wizard, I have learned so much from you. Keep going.
I’ve had a Bentley and several other Matchbox cars. There’s nothing like the prestige and excitement you experience along with that new plastic smell!
The rear end of that Bentley sort of reminds me of a '68 Torino GT.
This car, my number 1 dreamcar. Don’t ask me why.
Why?
Why?
Masochist?
Because you like nightmares?
why?
The rear three-quarter view with those pronounced haunches and tail light shape is one of the best styling exercises of the past forty years...
Yeah, I love the intros where Mrs. Wizard has to rain on his parade. And I especially love the intros where Mrs. Wizard expresses that Mr. Wizard has gone insane from working too hard. Kind of reminds me of 'Married... With children".
Is that the old 1995 Lotus Esprit S4S I'm seeing in the top left corner?
Looks like it.
They're actually quite reliable if serviced every year. A full service by a Bentley dealer is £1,000. There's a lot of them around with 40k or less miles, I think a lot of people have them as a second car for the weekend.
Unless you're Jeremy Clarkson; then you use them to both go to town and go off roading.
Loved this car when it first came out. This looks brand new still!
My '95 Impala SS had a little over 6000 miles on it when I bought it ten years ago. It had apparently been owned by an NBA player and was part of his collection prior to his trading it when buying a new luxury car. And he wasn't even the first owner, as he was twelve when it was built.
For the expense of a Bentley you’d think the lines would be braided stainless steel. Yet another thing to boast about but a completely insignificant cost at the time it’s built.
Yeah but pretty much no one who buys a car like this is likely to care, and small things like that adds up. VW isnt known for their generosity when spec:ing parts... I have heard the guys leading the Golf 5 and 7 project both got fired for the cars being too expensive for VW taste to produce!
@@GoldenCroc Oh I get that, but I think it would be an attractive dress up item for the engine bay. And another gloating point about "fine Teutonic engineerink".
That gorgeous E55 to the side. Do a video on that one!!!
CLK55. It's a 2 door.
@@ultraguy8771 yep, you're correct. That lift obscured it and I spoke too soon. Either way, those E55 monoblocks look way better than the Aero II's you normally see on a CLK55
Yep, that's the video I'd like to see. The 55 AMG cars are awesome.. The tarted-up Volkswagen has an engine that is an engineering masterpiece, but the rest of it is so bland imo.
The wizard is one of few mechanics I would trust with my car and it’s not even a nice car i just know he’d treat me and my vehicle with respect and honesty and that’s what I’d want from a mechanic
That beautiful green convertible in the background keeps catching my eye. 👀
With 5k miles, this owner must love to ride the brakes if the rear pads are half gone.
Someone must be speeding if it's half gone.
Only ever driven to the garage for its regualr services and back (still had to be towed twice)
Thanks Wizard I’ve learned something new again 👍🙏
I love Shenanigans that Wizard starts with, and How Quickly Mrs bring him back to reality 😂😂
Not gonna lie, when Ms Wizard asked what "jack mode", I expected some giggling.
All married men go into that mode full time after 1 year of marriage.
I can't wait for Hoovie to buy this car next year "I bought the lowest mileage Bentley in the US"
Something tells me it won’t be the cheapest though
@@remb9614 That's not what his channel is all about.
That doesn't sound like Hoovie unless you swap "lowest mileage" with "sketchiest past" or "highest mileage" or "most accidents", "most repairs".. etc... 🤣
Hoovie mostly buys overpriced noncollectable junk cars then dumps a boatload of repair money into them then wonders why nobody wants buy the cars for what he has "invested" in them. I am convinced Hoovie's business model is the RUclips revenue.
@@robc8468 I did read that his dodgy Russian Bentley was one of his most successful videos. Actually, even if he is, "I'm so rich I can buy immaculate cars" videos would be incredibly boring. The most entertaining part about Hoovie's videos is the Wizard finding all sorts of problems with the Hoopties he buys.
great video - keep up the great work wizard
I must be a car geek, I really enjoyed seeing the underside of the Continental.
They figured that 5000 miles was pushing their luck.
The first half of the year have been tough and mostly influenced and manipulated by whales shifting the Digital market in there favour, with many achievements not met yet you have to be ready for the 2nd half and it begins right now.
I'm diversifying myself and recently I added CRYP TO to my portfolio because of the recent dip in price .I'd say "think like a bear and invest like a bull".
I wanted to invest more in CRYP TO but the fluctuations in CRYP TO value discouraged me into dumping .
Wow I’m just shocked you mentioned Lucas Naved. I thought people don’t know him… he is really awesome!
Lucas Naved is obviously the best I'veworkedwith. I INVESTED $3,000 with him and made a PRO FIT of $20,500 on a short term trade. it was mind-blowing
I've heard of his TRADING prowess
That's a beautiful Bentley!
So glad you mentioned the tire age issue. One of the issues most people don't consider with this type of high value, low mileage car is the insurance implications of old tires. As we all know, insurers all love to take money, and hate to give it back. As such, there is always a clause that an insured vehicle must be in a "roadworthy state" if it is to be used on the road. Tire manufacturers usually give a maximum recommended lifetime for their tires, depending on usage (mileage) or age. Go over that maximum age? Well, to an insurance company, that means the car is "not roadworthy", so if you have ANY reason to make a claim, they WILL use that to deny the claim.
Likewise, if you get stopped by the police & they spot the tires are out of date, they can treat you as if you are driving uninsured - with all the legal implications...
You guys bought an RV, didn’t you? One of the huge ones that rockstars tour the country in.
That would still fit in the shop. I reckon they have finally got enough money from Hoovie to buy a private island.
I would actually enjoy an episode of the Loewen Upholstery place... they seem to do nice craftsmanship as well.
Thanks Wizard for keeping it real. If you look to own a car like that, you need to be ready for the costs of maintaining it.
if you can't afford a new one, you can't afford the maintenance of a used one
That intro was hilarious & I recognized that song right away I wouldn't have expected wizard to have known it. Lol
Unfortunately most Conti GTs have been ruined by the third or fourth owners.
The higher mileage examples yes. They get into a price range where people can afford to buy them but not maintain them.
It’s crazy how this is 15 years old. The design still looks beautiful and modern.
I like how you have a thing for British marques - Hoovie's Austin Healey Sprite is a good example. We know it here in the UK as a "frog-eyed Sprite" rather than a "bug-eyed Sprite". Always wanted an Austin Healey 3000, but they are very rare and very pricey.
I like how the wheels didn't sag at all when you lifted it. They just stayed right where they were supposed to be
While the headliner is out you mite as well wire the roof for the dominos pizza light.
I often wonder what its like to be inside Wizards brain, hes such an odd character
Probably a lot more interesting than your brain.
The old Continental GT aged so well. I remember how everyone said how boring and nearly ugly they are, when they were released... a few years later most of them changed their mind because it has grown on them.
Would buy one in a heartbeat. They are not as posh as the new ones. But probably the V8.
I wish Chrysler had copied that Continental GT design for the 300C,
The intro was supercool wizard 😂😂
If I owned that car I would absolutely use the ashtray. It deserves a top shelf infused cigar to add to the delicious smell of high end leather.
What, and mask the blunt aroma?😏
Hey, I'm impressed. That works out to nearly 500 miles a day, for every day it WASN'T in the shop! 😆
nice repaint job!
Great intro, love it!
I’m very familiar with Jack Mode.
rich people just buy cars as investments and not to drive. that's how, car wizard.
That's not an investment. Its setting fire to money and then letting it blow away in the wind.
@@scootypuffjr. o I agree, but a Bentley with the 100k miles an 06 Bentley SHOULD have on it is worth fuck all, a Bentley with 5k miles on it might be worth more than when it was new. It's so fucked. Cars are meant for driving!!!! Capitalism ruins everything!!!!
Idk, 250k then - 60 to 80k now. Depreciating like all cars.
@@pavementsailor sure, but that's just part of the risk. What's gonna depreciate and what's gonna appreciate? Will a Bentley be worth anything in 30 years? A Ferrari?
@@elen5871 Definitely the Ferrari as far as value after years depending on model. The Ferrari Californian not so much. 308's not as much as you'd guess. They make a more Bentleys than Ferraris. The form of the GT hasn't changed that much. I've delivered more Shelby Mustangs for investments- straight to climate controlled garages than Bentleys. The rich view them as we would a nicer Cadillac. Daily driver to the spa and golf course. In Palm Springs they're everywhere.
lot of vehicles with adjustable suspensions have tire jack mode. My Ram with air suspension has it also, the salesman specifically showed us after purchase
