I listened to this with my 6-week-old kitten about a week ago. We first found him in my back yard crying for help a few weeks ago. He was a stray that was culled from the litter, so we don’t know how long he was wandering around in the wilderness by himself. My partner and I took him in and nursed him back to health for the most part over the next few weeks. I couldn’t take my eyes off of him. I was his new dad, and I was gonna watch him get so big and strong. Then, the other morning, on October 5th at about 6:30 a.m., he had passed away peacefully in the night. I had to bring him home the other morning after the emergency vet visit. After my partner and I said goodbye to our boy, we buried him in the front yard under a big shady tree, so we can always keep an eye on him. I’ll always miss the way he’d scream when I left the room and he couldn’t find me. I’ll miss the way I’d cradle him and put him close to my face and he’d put his little claws in my beard and pull me closer to him. I’ll miss our lazy Sundays playing video games while he’s rolled up like a burrito and stuffed in the front of my jacket so he can watch me with his big blue eyes. This AI cover is meant to be kind of goofy, but I’ll never hear this song the same way again. It gave me a memory of my cat curling up under my armpit at 2:00 in the morning while watching this. This works so well because Zach is so monotone already that his voice was made to be autotuned. On another note I just became a daddy and I play this version for my daughter to lullaby her to sleep.
