    The Arrastra is the do it all package. You've got the mining ship, the cargo ship, the refining ship, and the escort ship, all in one.

  • @aimlis

    This ship is the Carrack of mining. I'm not really surprised by the price and can only see it going up. An 'endgame' ship with a price to match.

    I think the balance with the Mole is gonna be operation cost. They may have similar crew numbers tho you can and probably want to fit an extra person or 2 on the Arrastra and it's definitely a lot pricier (also in-game later). I can imagine it not being worth taking out the Arrastra if you really just wanna do a quick mining run with 4 people. The Arrastra is more what you send out to crack bigger rocks and do more mining to come back with those 512 SCU and maybe something special. It even looks like you hit the throttle and blow your first small rock worth of income on fuel. I get the idea of "it's just a better Mole" but that's (for me at least) because I like big self sufficient ships. I wouldn't go out for a little bit of Mole mining because it's just a too small ship for my taste. I want the mining brick.

    • @sysko5986
      @sysko5986 10 месяцев назад

      Yep, there’s immediate differentiation by the size rocks you can hit. Arrastra enabled me to let the Orion go. What I miss more is the Prospector that is now executable to Mole for fleet ‘complete’. I’m very much a fan of not forcing people to get protection.

    Still can't get over the price. Seems pretty steep for the ship itself. Was expecting $500 max. Was going to be a must buy but now I am rethinking the purchase and if I really need it. For $75 more the orion just seems to be the better choice.

    This thing is really underwhelming, and it feels like they phoned in almost everything. The aesthetic of the ship feels like an RSI combat ship they grabbed out of a folder and hastily converted over. It only needs one more crew than the MOLE despite being huge. The interior accessed remote turrets are cool but it doesn't appear (although we don't know since they didn't bother with any interior layout showcase!) to have considered storing extra heads/modules to swap around, or access to the lasers to do that. The ROC mining feels very tacked on, too; the crew count doesn't really work well for ROC + ship mining, and the ship itself is way too big for ROC mining from it to be anything but a meme.
    The whole thing seems like it was designed without any mining players or mining gameplay designers in the room, and the whole sale feels a little slapped together; no interior layout, no high-res pics, relatively little concept art, and they barely had anything to really say about it on ISC. But a $575 asking price, of course. The vibe is mostly "we really didn't want 'RSI miner' to win the poll, we didn't wanna make this thing."

    One question that really needs answering is if like the Orion, this is only meant to mine asteroids. Sure it can land and can carry ground vehicles but is it designed to hover, etc, and be able to mine rocks on a surface?

  • @shuzashuuza4614
    @shuzashuuza4614 10 месяцев назад

    its true that the Orion is only $75 more than the Arrastra but the crew size required and cost to maintain the Orion is larger and more expensive. Choosing between the Arrastra and the Orion depends on wether the buyer is in a small or big group.

  • @avatar6699
    @avatar6699 10 месяцев назад

    The RSI Arrastra is a Size 3 Mining Head Mole, with MUCH more cargo space, better armament, and its own refiner. Basically a small-scale Mining Platform where as the Orion, for (now) only $75 more and is the Mega Mining Platform and will likely have massive overhead and maintenance costs. Works fine as I see it.

    I also have this ship now. I buy ships like a crazy person and I know that. Looks are important to me. I love the design of the ship way more than the Mole. But I also hope that there is a place for both ships. I really enjoy finding random friends in this game and putting together a rag tag grp for all kinds of missions. I just hope that they make it almost impossible to solo this ship like you can with the Mole. I don't know what other people think about the refining process but I would love it if they made an entire job around it. Like something where the better and more efficient you get at it the more you can earn. By way of filtering out the unwanted materials or whatever by some kind of gameplay that the person doing the refining takes care of. And maybe even harsh consequences if they mess up while refining quant. Just my two cents. But I see a huge potential with people getting to take care of refining like they talk about with engineering. I can't believe how exciting things have become with this game over the past year. I know its still going to be years before a lot of it is in game but man its fun just to think about it.

However I still will not buy into any concept ship. Then sit content with myself waiting around for the next decade to see it happen, as has been the common theme. Seems CIG is getting faster at ship production. But the likelihood of waiting over five years is too high for me to buy this one until it is actually announced. for that price you also get a ship for low sec Ares no all ships need to be able to defend them self so smaller ship that have nothing to risk not just can take you that easy they need to rework the mole os delete it make a new ship insted of the mole becouse the mole is gabis 3 reasons its not a solo miner most people play 2 man gaming an the Arrastre the only reson i did buy that ship is becaose it can be fly by 2 man an you dont need to up out an down stairs to get to the turrent
    this shipsis the Concept i am going with becouse this ship fit the style of game pley i want to pley
    the mole need to total rework to be frank an it needs alest 140-150 scu for a 3 man mining ship so they also feel they are making money the works on that ship 96 SCU is way to low build a new mole ship an faster an not that clumpsy to fly
    the mole are not ment to be a huge Rock miner like the ARRASTRE that can not mine small rocks that the mole can mine you can not compair the ships like that
    The Arrester need to be able to defend it self so it can operate in criminell space you Risk alot more becouse of refinery an the SCU when you die you die with many millions saller ships need to chose their taget wisely you do not sent a friget vs a hangership right so you force people to join up to take the Bigger ships down.

    Gotta love everyone saying "JUST get an Orion" when that thing is 3x as big (already, who knows if it will grow more) and will for sure require twice the crew or more by the time all is said and done. The Orion is a beautiful ship and has amazing capabilities, but it's a VERY different level of use case to the Arrastra. If you want to mine almost anything on a regular basis, the Arrastra is the all-around best option. If you want to strip-mine massive quantities of materials for weeks on end as part of a big Org mission, the Orion is the way to go. This is much better for a small group of friends who want to mine regularly and not be forced to mine in space all the time or worry about being able to store your ship since we still don't know everything about space-bound capitals yet. Buy big and earn down is a good thing to keep in mind when fleet building but it's not always practical to go the biggest possible.

    • @Croncy
      @Croncy  10 месяцев назад +1

      Reason were saying get the Orion instead is for value. You could always melt the Orion later to buy the arrastra, especially as it will almost certainly be the loaner for it when it's out.

    • @Craggon
      @Craggon 10 месяцев назад +1

      From a new money standpoint of buying either one outright I can understand that, since ideally the Arrastra won't go above what the Orion current sits at, but if someone has been building a chain with a lot of savings and goes to the Orion now and it's well outside their capabilities to crew or doesn't end up being as versatile as they would like then melting that could only give them a fraction of what the Arrastra would cost down the line. I appreciate the videos and I get where you're coming from, but the Orion is like the Endeavor where it will for sure skyrocket and is a massive value, but a value that could be entirely lost on someone who is ill-prepared to face the amount of work and crewing that a ship that massive will entail. That said people should always do their research and look into the ships when they're spending this much so I hope everyone makes the choice that's right for them and enjoys their ships. :) @@Croncy

    It is definitely expensive but it does combine the ability to mine and refine. The only other ships we know that have this capability are the odyssey which is currently $700 and orion which is currently $650 (and will go up in price). So from that perspective it's cheaper than any other option.
    The mole doesn't feel pointless to me because of the price point and operation costs. It's nearly half the price of this. There will be plenty of people who aren't going to want to spend this much on a mining ship but want the ability to multi crew mine and I feel like THAT'S where the mole fits in. However, I agree they will probably do more to differentiate the two ships.

    I think that the Arrastra is a very small but much appreciated step away from the absolutely smooth brained idea that non-combat ships should simply be easy prey. SC is a piracy simulator first and foremost (and anyone telling you otherwise has never played a PvP MMO). For anyone to fly anything other than a gunship, it needs to be able to defend itself, escort or not.
