Abandoned Old Lathe - Restoration

- In this video I'm restoring an old lathe machine.
This small lathe was sitting in an old barn for many years. Although it doesn't have a motor, all the other parts are functional. I don't know the story behind this machine, how old is it or who built it, but it sure doesn't deserve to be left in poor condition like this. I want to make it look like new again, so I am leaving a dull surface on most parts.
What do you think of this restoration? Please leave a comment.

That is an awesome little machine. The tooling is eclectic. seeing how there are a number of various styles of screws. Awesome job, too. Although I wouldn’t have used metal tools to bang apart the metal lathe pieces.
The bed may need to be changed to something more robust
Otherwise it was a perfect restoration.
hey do you think you could put toghether a little plan with the measurements of all the parts? looks like an awsome project to replicate
very nice work
Thank you very much
Enjoyed that, nice editing too.

Thank you very much for your support, I am glad you liked this project
Il restauro meccanicamente é venuto molto bene ...mi sarebbe piaciuto vederlo lavorare con un motore che lo facesse girare e comunque complimenti
What a super COOL little lathe! I love it, and you did such a great job restoring it and video editing. Overall a wonderful experience and pleasure to watch, you've definitely earned my subscription. Take care brother and thanks for your hard work and sharing this cool little lathe and video with us. I bet that will work great for small parts.

Great video.
This is an amazing restoration of the old lathe. Wonderful result and a very professional video. Congrats 👌
Thank you very much :)
Beautiful job
Thank you very much :)
The quality and precision that went into designing and building that lathe is unreal. You don’t get that craftsmanship these days.
Nice
Thank you sir
Flawless.. Perfect procedure to restore.... Honestly the patience and sheer fucking will to clean each bold is masterfull
Super 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks
Great restoration, are you going to add a motor?
Thank you very much. This lathe is one of my first restoration projects so I think I will actually leave it like this and display it in my garage, it is a great looking model.
It’s kind of useless and pointless to do all this restoration just to display it in your garage
How is this lathe driven?
The chuck on this lathe is fixed so I guess it was meant to be just a model. I tried to install an old drill in place of this chuck and it will work, but it is not as accurate as the larger lathes and can not take the higher loads because of the drill head.
How do you drive the headstock??🇦🇺😎🐈⬛
No test?
It really came out nice! as a machinist you should have left it in the trash.
Also, the new grub screws you selected to use are too long. The grub screw is meant to be sitting flush with the surface not sticking up the way you have them. I am merely making these comments not to put you down, but to make you a more watchable RUclipsr, if you wish to grow your channel, you need to listen to some of the advice from the viewers
Thank you for your comment, I take every advice I get into account in my future projects :)
After doing all this restoration, you should at least hook up a motor to it and do something with it. It’s kind of useless to see the restoration process of something that might not even work.
Hook up a motor to what?
Looks next to useless
