- A question I get asked ALL the time is "how can I change colours in Photoshop?" - usually, this is about changing the colour green to something else within dog photography editing, or just altering the tone of green itself. To change color in Adobe Photoshop, I use a few different methods but this one is probably the most versatile and is worth playing around with!
Today, I change green to brown/orange to tone down a super green scene.

I’m in awe each time I watch this. I’m getting closer!!
aww thank you Pat 🙏. You'll be closer than you realise 👌
I love your tutorials! Could you maybe make one about editing photos of dogs with yellow fur?
Yes! Would love to see this too! Amazing tutorials - thank you so much!
I would love to see this on a different coloured dog, like a golden retriever, as I know I'd just be stumped lol xx
Never say never!
OMG - incredible. I'll play with this and look forward to booking a one on one to fine tune. Thank you for sharing Jess
Thank you Pat 🙏 looking forward to catching up with you on a one to one 👌
Oh wow! Mind blown. Thank you show much for sharing your knowledge…I just need to watch it a few more times to make it stick. I will no longer dread Spring greens ❤
Glad to hear that ☺
Hi there! I got a new camera and wanted to test it out at a park near home. I thought why not take my dog witch is a massively cute (father here) to test the camera and capture some nice imagens of Pablo! I just found your channel and I must admit that the way you process your files are very clever, nicely done! I leaned a lot with your channel in the past two days! Congratulations for your beautiful work and thanks for sharing! 😉🐕
Glad to be of help Fernando - good luck!
oh i hate beinging colourblind... this is what im trying to learn now. but when you said you were changing the yellow on the log, so it went from organe to green... my eyes just saw green haha... constantly having to have a friend on my shoulder or whatsapp, saying what colour is this? is this the correct colour to what i want? im getting there. this video has helped me now how to change things better... thank you
Great ! I really like it, it's so useful ! I'm looking forward to trying it on my next own photos soon. I have discovered your channel recently and i really appreciate it. So many videos remaining to discover...Thank you so much ! Great job indeed.
Awesome, thank you!
Amazing. Never seen it like that! Thank you!
No problem - I hope it was useful!
Amazing transformation! Thanks for sharing this technique.
You are so welcome!
What a fabulous video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Yay!is always a good day when you upload content! Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us. I've always loved photography and studied it in college but never felt I was good enough to take it further.. I now have two dogs and we go on such beautiful hikes thanks to your help im regaining my love for photography!
Thank you very much for all what you do for us. I have discovered your channel only recently as Im completely new to photography and Photoshop/LR and all the info and tips you share are super helpful for me. Do you also plan to do more videos on photography itself? How to adjust the settings in different situations, portrait, pics in motion, etc? Thank you, greetings from the Czech republic 💕
Hey, yeah of course, I try to mix it up each week if I can :) The channel has lots of shooting tips on it you just need to have a notepad handy!
@@ThatPhotographySpot Thank you, I didnt have a chance to browse through all the videos yet, but I will definitely do that! 👏👏
I cant ever seem to make a brown colored background I'm having trouble finding that? I tried this Idk if Im just doing it wrong lol. Thanks for all you videos.
COOL THANK YOU FOR THIS
Jess, you are a wizard!
Thank you for this, that’s my Friday night sorted 😅🐶
Enjoy!!
Thank you do much! I was waiting for this video!
Hope it’s helpful!!
You have such great videos! They are all so helpful. Especially for someone like me who is new to Photoshop! Thank you for sharing the steps to your beautiful images. Would this work if there were flowers in the image?
thank you so much for the great feedback 🙏 really glad you're enjoying the content. Yes, this would work if there were flowers in the image 😊
This was extremely helpful, thanks! Much better than my amateurish way of simply changing the color hues in Lightroom. I will try your method next time :)
You are a Genius!
aww, that's so kind. Its important to us that you guys really enjoy the content we put out there 🥰
@@ThatPhotographySpot Not going to Lie Photoshop scares me it just seems so complex! But you make it look easy and your videos are great! Thank you for the great content.
So great help thanks for this.👍😀
Glad it helped!
I like a bit of editing. But honestly the before was so much better than the after. It looks like the dad looks more sad just because the surroundings look like a dead forest or something.
Thank you for your feedback on this image 🙏
Wow! Super helpful, thank you ❤️😊
Glad it was helpful!
Can you also get this done in Lr or do you need the layers?
Very helpful and awesome video, so thanks a lot!
I don't know of a way to get the same result in Lightroom because you can't minutely isolate colours without including adjacent chunks :(
Brilliant
Thank you 🙏
Would this also work with making a blue-ish winter scene? So making cooler colors opposed to warmer colors? I have a some winter snowy photos which I would like to learn how to make like a soft dreamy cooler scene but just not 100% sure if it is a similar process just with using different colors. Am I just over complicating this or is it a different process to achieve that type of look?
I would probably do this with solid colour adjustment layers and radials to be honest, but there's always 49473627 ways to do anything in photoshop so just have a play and see where you end up!
@@ThatPhotographySpot thank you ❤️
Great technique 😊👍 so would you usually use a mix of hue/sat and selective color or is it better to just use one of these methods on a picture ?
I usually do hue sat for major changes and then selective colour to finalise if needed ☺️
Does it matter when the stray objects are cloned out? Can they be cloned out after doing the color change? Or maybe I should ask it this way. When is the best time to clone out stray objects? Thanks for another video!!!
It is much easier to do it BEFORE you convert the layer to a smart object. However, sometimes you spot things later that maybe you missed or whatever - right click on the smart object layer itself and choose “edit contents” - that will open a new file in PS which is literally the image you started with - clone edit clean up as needed and then close that file. Wait a couple of seconds and the smart object in the original file will update and you can continue your edit ☺️
@@ThatPhotographySpot Thank you!
super helpful! Thanks!
Very interesting!!
Glad you think so!
Hey i hope that you will be able to reply,i would appreciate it so much. I would love to try myself in the photography but i would still like my pictures to look professional. I would take pictures of fast moving objects(my dog that does tricks,MOVES alot, jumps, runs) and i would love to take pictures of her in the motion, but without blurry photos. I would also take pictures of her standing still and portraits. At the end i would do animal photography. So my question is which cameras you would suggest me and which lens that are on budget? I watched alot of videos and i searched, but i still cant find a solid answer of what would be the best.😔
I di all this but in affinity photo but half the grass in my image is green as rest is orange...
Hi Jess, is the full edit video still available, it was quite long video?
Unfortunately we have had to remove the full edit videos from RUclips for legal reasons but these are available within the membership as it would have been a shame to completely lose them 😊
@@ThatPhotographySpot ok Jess, thought as much. See you on the inside soon. I will be signing up for your training shortly hopefully.

I tried doing this with a white dog and it turned him purple! Any advice?
I'm not sure why this would turn a dog purple unless your Hue/Sat selection range was too wide maybe?
I tried it...and went totally wrong hehehe. I gotta practice.
Keep practising - you'll get there!
where do i find the camera raw filter, ive got Photoshop CS6
CRF is not available in CS6 unfortunately
