- Far away from the reaches of demons and war, near the borderland of Zoltan, D-Rank adventurer Red lives a normal existence. Through perseverance and hard work, his dream of starting his own apothecary and peaceful life in the countryside finally came true. Abruptly, Red gets a live-in partner and assistant named Rit-the princess of Duchy Loggervia and an adventurer herself-who gives everything up to join him.
Although honest, kind, and loved by all, Red has a secret shared only with Rit: his real name is Gideon, brother of Ruti Ragnason, the "Hero" and a former member of her party. Ares Drowa, the "Sage," kicked Red out of their party after their war against the Demon Lord after deciding he was weak and insignificant. Now, even though Red has left the Hero's party behind by assuming a new life together with Rit, his past has yet to let go of him.

It’s clearly obvious that the real reason Aries had Gideon banished from the hero party is because he was in his way of getting closer to Ruti ( Gideon’s sister) Aries has lust for Ruti and will do whatever it takes to make her his and his alone
He basically sees the sister as his meal ticket to being a nobleman.
Sadly for him she sees right through his scheme and utterly detests him.
She's also a massive brocon who would rather just solo everything with him if she had her way.
It's funny because when she reunites with her brother she bluntly says she'll kick mage boy out of the party to get him to rejoin and mage boy BSOD's when he realizes that the sister merely tolerated him because he was useful and never actually cared for him.

He only thinks about himself and what he wants..he never thought about her feelings or what she wants, she never wanted to be the hero and her love is only for her brother, plus when she decided she wasn’t going to be the hero anymore, Aries tried to force her to continue being the hero,while the rest of the group supported her choice

It was hilarious seeing her whole party back her up on finding her brother and call him out on being a pompous asshole.
The other problem with Ares being jealous is because the MC's sister (the hero) is a huge brocon. And because he was also excellent at handling the party's infrastructure as well as pre-fight planning, he was always considered by the hero to be a welcome part of the party.
That so? The stupid jerk.
This anime could have been a serious contender if it focused on the actual story which is that the church is creating blessings to manipulate and control the people and we're in season 2 and it's finally being a little hinted at WTF
Funny thing is that the heroes party is competent just being gaslighted

It is not really a big mistake
There's a side story of another timeline where Red is still in the party where he died and using his death, they rally humanity against the demons which might be good or not.
So things more or less ended well for them?

I do like the themes of free agency, but I can't help but feel it's a little too anti-religious as some seem to believe their blessings relate to what god wants them to do in life. Then again that is what these people seem to believe, perhaps later on it will be revealed the church was saying that to use people and that their god wants them to be in charge of their own lives but still be decent people.
MC's like this seriously piss me off, he abandoned his sister just like that, a dangerous drug is going around and bad stuff is happening and he dont want to do anything, just watching people suffer even though he can do sonething to fix the solution, the blondie gets angry over the guy ending the bad guys who lost their mind, they are weak willed morons.
In the MC's defense, he did that while thinking logically. I red the WN a few years ago so sorry for any mistakes. MC's blessing if I am not mistaken is Guide. He gets stronger faster than the Hero but he has a ceiling cap for his growth. And when he was guilt tripped by the Sage to leave, MC is noticeably having difficulties. And his sister is also unable to be selfish due to her blessing, the Hero. Just think of it as a blessing that blocks everything except the urge to fight the Demon King. And MC's other party members are no better. The only person who was actively defending the MC was the elf ranger. They only realized they need him when they encounter hardships.
