@@autocompletellc9906 super great confidence booster! Thank you. You really never know what you’re going to get when you put yourself out there in the interwebs. Thanks for such positive and reinforcing support!
I just finish watching and all I have 2 say it's great set up! Thank you 4 sharing.
@@dewaltman4582 of course, thank you for watching! I look forward to making more content.
That’s pretty much a full collection tools and power tools to work on about 99% of cars and trucks. My father was a mechanic for over 30 years, gave me his set when he retired. He basically got the same tools as you, but has a lot of speciality set tools too. I use his tools for basically everything and just basically fix any car or truck issues. Im glad you didn’t go crazy and just buy brand truck tools like all snap on, Mac, and so on.
@@tpp4007 thanks! I’m pretty frugal, so I only buy tool truck brands when I think it’s necessary. I started with cheaper tools and upgraded as I became a better technician (with more money)
@@QuantumMobileMechanicI’m a big proponent of one tool company can make the best tool in every category. I do get stuck on a brand when I find my favorite for a certain application. Example, four years ago when I got deeper into repairs and found knipex. I never left and can not find the strength to buy a different brand of any specialty pliers or adjustable wrenches. Idc what people say about impacts, Milwaukee has never failed me. Impact socket sets I love tekton. I can not use a necklight (I actually put it on my head above my ears) other than EZ Red. Hex/Torx/Speciakty drive socket sets, Neiko. Flashlights, I love streamlight. Idk if they’re actually favorable compared to others, which I have tried many brands, or if it’s just minor autism. Any brands you’re autistically in love with for a certain application of tools?
Those hyper tough (Wilde) pry bars are amazing, ive been using them for 4 years or so now, definitely best bang for the buck. Great set up ya got there
@@anarchonorris80 thanks you! I didn’t know Wilde made them. I’ve already used them for a couple of jobs now. Before these I was using my old craftsman set, and a solid steal 4 ft long floor nail puller for construction. 🤣
@QuantumMobileMechanic a lot of company's rebrand those wilde bars but walmart has the absolute best price, also hyper tough recently released usa made mini prybars
@ good to hear I got the best deal on them. The lady when I checked out said “tools are expensive” and I kinda just chuckled.
Great mechanic. I’ve used his service for a no start on my 1986 c10. I myself am a diesel mechanic but was busy moving and needed help getting it started. Very cool and smart guy. Located in so cal. Happy to see you started a RUclips channel. Look forward to more repairs you do and what you got going on.

@@unwired1281 thanks. Yeah that’s kind of the point. I use to pull everything I needed and put on my shelves of the cart, but I would almost always forget something and have to make a trip back to the big toolbox. Thanks for the box tour!! Love that 3/8 stubby from O'Reillys (16:43). I put an extra socket on the bottom for quick change. Where did you pick up the waterpump (20:26) tool?? Would be a great addition to the kit.
@@SleepysAutomotive oh quick change socket is a phenomenal idea! Probably makes for a nice thick handle too? The water pump tool, I got from advance auto parts that was going out of business recently, I’m pretty sure it’s made by lisle, let me find out and let you know. You could probably make one using some 1/4 flat bar and drilling two holes maybe
@@QuantumMobileMechanic Howdy!! Yeah, I like to keep dedicated ratchet for each socket. The 3/8 stubby is the only exception. I'll put an 8mm and a 10mm for quick change. I'll jump in and swim around to see if I can find that water pump tool. Wish y'all Many Blessings!! See ya out on the playground!!
I really like the graphic design and name of your business! Kind of reminds me if mine, but very cool and eye catching!
@@victorhoyt4352 what’s yours? I wanted something memorable and ties back to my time as a nuclear mechanic. Also I wanted something eye catching and female friendly. Thanks again, I made the design myself.
@@QuantumMobileMechanic It's kind of hard to explain my design, but I use black, neon green, and orange as my colors. It's extremely eye popping and you see that mf coming down the road lol. The design is kind of like a check engine light icon but has a background that is similar to your quantum design. I had a graphic designer create mine and it was one of the best decisions I made. He did such a great job with the graphics and the colors, and I am so pleased with the outcome. Yours looks great too man and it definitely is female friendly. It kind of reminds me of those pink plumber guys who have all pink trucks and with the breast cancer ribbons. Great tour btw man! I love seeing these mobile set ups because there's always something that I see that I end up adopting for my own vehicle. Keep up the good work bud and the best of luck to you!!

Ive just looked at replacing some of my Missing in action Snap on stuff.....and im stunned at current prices....been gone from Uk for about ten years now and brought Facom mainly in 🇫🇷 France...its pretty economical compared to the Gucci brand😂😂😂😂
@@sm400 not sure what they have available in the uk. But here you can buy the individual Snapon sockets from the dealers. I have a pretty good relationship with my Snapon guy, he comes to my house.
How did bolt on your tool box to the floor of van? Did you mind sharing a picture
@@TheSilvestre52 I know this isn’t the right answer, but I’m using gravity…

@@Guerrer_04 Slippery Pete - Pressure Brake... www.amazon.com/dp/B094SNJXH6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. Thanks. It works great and cheaper than mityvac. With a good bit of attachment too.
Did you have to buy any extra master cylinder attachments? I have a bigger air powered machine at the shop, same concept just everything is self contained. I hate the universal attachment so I ordered additional attachments as I got burned by not having one.
@ no the slippery Pete kit I bought included all the ones they sell. It also had a universal adapter for the old classic cars. I’d love to have a pneumatic machine, I just don’t have the space for an air compressor and a power inverter.
@@QuantumMobileMechanic oh I know I wasn’t saying that you need it I’m just saying same with the caps. How many you got cuz there’s about 30 I can have in my set of ordered them all. I don’t have good luck with the universal on certain smaller size tops. You good with it? The chain one correct.
@ yeah the chain one. I would say the kit covers like 90% of cars. If I ever come across a car that I can’t do with the pressure tool, I just use the pedal depressor I have… takes some time, but it works ok enough.
You mentioned those thin wire brushes you use for calipers, is there a brand for those? Ive only seen the plastic handle lisle ones and they dont last very long
@@Carterthielftw_ I’m not sure the brand. I get them from harbor freight. They last about 5-8 brake jobs for me. Which is a lot.

Quick question. Do you wear that camera while you're doing work for customers?
@@victorhoyt4352 no, I’m not sure how it would make them feel. Unforgettable or some kind of way? I thought about wearing while doing a repair when the customer is not around, but it’s a bit awkward. So I’ll set up the camera on a tripod when I do some repairs.

If youre looking for some affordable 3/8ths semi deep sockets Icon makes a set and they go for about $40 i have both icon and snap on sets but icon for the price is pretty decent.
@@julianaguero4199 that’s not a bad move! I don’t find myself needing them all that often, so the icon set will probably be my next purchase, and if I find they are super useful I’ll upgrade. Grey pneumatic makes a semi deeps set but they are not the “duo” sockets. I’ve found that the 1/4 semi deeps are super useful, the Goldilocks sockets for when the shallows are too small to fit and the deeps are too wide…
@QuantumMobileMechanic I will say the only snap on socket set I own is the semi deep because of how versatile they are (and because icon didn't have them yet) I don't regret that purchase at all but once icon put out a set I had to grab them for at home use! They definitely are the goldilocks! Now I'm just eating for the semi deep 1/4 inch from icon lol
@ haha. Alright I’ll get some today for sure while harbor freight has a good sale going.
Considering the price difference, would you say the icon wrench set is worth it compared to the snap on flank drive plus? I’m not sure if I should save the money, or get the higher end set. Let me know what you think. I was also looking into Williams super combos too.
@@Jacksongamma the icons are great!! To be honest you don’t really use the open end of a wrench all that often, it’s usually a socket, or the box end, or a ratcheting box end. The open end of the icon is great! I would say pick up the icons first, and if you feel the need for the Snapon set later on down the road, don’t hesitate because they are great too! I started with cheaper tools and upgraded as I became a better (and had real money) technician. Hope that helps!
That’s probably a good idea. I was just looking for something, when in the case of using the open end, I could try and remove rounded off bolts better. I suffer in the rust belt so when I need the open end, usually there’s no head. I can get a set of the Williams super combos 6-19 for around $200. I’m not sure if I should just go with the icon for $130 or those. Thank you for your response and advice. Please let me know your thoughts.
@ I’ve definitely used the icon’s open ended end to take off a rounded fastener and it works great. Especially on brake lines where the coupling nuts are a little soft and prone to slipping, the icon’s open end stays pretty tight. Never used the Williams before so I can’t say. But the icon will have a much nicer and easier warranty process so something to keep in mind too.
@Jacksongamma for the rustbelt, MAC RBRT wrenches for open end. USAG 285X is the mac licensed design RBRT and cheaper than Icon!
@ oh what?! My biggest complaint about the MAC RBRT is the angle of the closed end. They have a strangely not useful angle that actually makes the wrench need even more space to be used (at least from my brief use) is that the case with the USAG 285X set? Also love that they are cheaper, but how’s the warranty process? I need to do some more research on these things! Looks like a steal though.
Another example where the dealership price beat my price. She has like a 2015 Chrusler 200 and says she needs an A/C compressor. Dealer quoted her $800 which is really a good deal considering they use a kit and probably included a belt and R1234yf car.
Just to make $100, the only way I vould do this for half price is get a used compressor. And even then if ahe needs a belt or something else like a condensed or radiator fan, she's right back at the dealer price.
I know dealerships lowball people in but that was the actual quote. I offered to get her a used compressor but I ain't heard a word. She probably don't even have $400 😳
This is the problems you run into doing side work or mobile mechanic work. The actual bill on this car unless she's lucky is probably gone cost more like $1400 in a shop. Even using a used compressor the mobile mechanic would be losing his ass.
@@JacksAutoDiagnostics wow, your right sometimes the dealerships actually provide a good price, but to be honest I’m not cheap either. I don’t negotiate pricing, and there is a convenience for my service. This is my full time job that pays my bills, I treat this business very professionally and provide quotes using book labor and new parts only.
Are you just going “side work” or are you “helping people” all day the whole week? If it’s the ladder. Spend the $150 and incorporate a business. You’ll get a tax ID number which is what you need to make a commercial account at the parts stores. You’re not gonna get a credit account you pay monthly but you’ll get a pay as you go account. You’ll get way cheaper pricing on parts. You’ll will have to pay $150-200 each year for filing paperwork but I
Promise it’s gonna make/save you more money than any tool you have.
@ oh yeah I have commercial accounts with all the local parts warehouses here and they deliver to my house. This is a full time gig. I charge like a shop and have a very professional approach. I’ll do a video in the coming week on how I run the business. I also advertise on a few different digital and physical platforms. Luckily, I do very well and have nearly all 5 star reviews on Yelp and Google.
@@QuantumMobileMechanic I was trying to help out buddy up top, my bad not being clear.
@@alexandergunaka666 oh hahaa my bad, honestly kinda new to the comments section. Hahaa.
Damn, I do a lot of electrical. I used my old dab rig butane torch. I’m gonna go with the heat gun. Why you no have no basic universal pigtail kit..,. Ohhh no whyyyyyy buddy. It’s very nice. Especially in a pinch mobile. Also, I’d die without my ball peen hammer, my tekton mini pry bars or my 4 foot pry bar. Put an extension on the back of the extractor socket to give yourself a holding surface and a place to hit with your ball peen hammer and that socket is on there and you get off first try very nice. I don’t like that I like a lot your selections cuz it’s a little too odd of things matching up…. Don’t you like crimping wires? If you say yes go punish yourself if not then damn brother are we related. Also as I type I watch, why do you have my power probe. You checking started with it. Say no cuz otherwise we are either related or autistic.
Thank god, a difference. When I do brakes I brake out the dremmel for cleaning up corrosion. Zip ties, what do you have against bungee cords?
@@alexandergunaka666 related or autistic, Hahaa. I love that. I haven’t found a good universal pigtail kit, I’ve been looking for one. Because that’s a really common repair. Good idea on the extension. I hate crimping wires, I need a nice wire crimper and stripper, I just get by Mickey mousing for now though.
@@alexandergunaka666 oh I never thought of a dremmel! Great idea, Milwaukee makes an m12 version too… I’m going to look into that. Much easier to fit into those tight areas. As for bingie chords I don’t like how dirty and soiled they get. I do use them for other things like wiring harness and coolant/ vacuum hoses to keep them out of the way.
@ never crimp ever I hate it. Hate it. I buy like three cheap kits combine them and toss the trash. If I’m ever in the junkyard where you pull your parts for something I’ll snip off a few of the common ones I know go bad that they may not easily sell separately. I also keep the common headlight ones on deck. It’s more of building one I guess. I’m never very clear when ranting about my tool setups because it’s done in a way that seems obvious to me but it’s not at all like how I just explained creating my set. I’ve made so much money by getting 3 $10 sets throwing out half of each one and snipping at the junkyard and sticking headlight ones .
@ ok I agree the dirtiness is an ick, yeah but the dremmel is in my knipex, tekton category. I don’t fanboy telling everyone you need that. I just say I’ve not tried one better and in this case with miluakee I never tried theirs but haven’t had a reason to yet. Also, the dremmel thing is only buy their cutting disc because they have a quick release set up which is the best. I got to harbor freight and buy their 144 piece bit kit for $10-$14 depending on a sale. The power, adjustable control of the power even without stopping, and the battery life combine for the best I’ve ever tried. Keyword tried. Also, work well to bore out the corrosion from the small holes for outer spiring clips like ford has. The ones people rtv or jb weld in and make me swear. By the way what general area are you located in. Not trying to come kidnap you so you can be vague if you’re scared since I keep saying we’re autistically the same.
From my experiences, mobile mechanic is best if you just ding jumpstarts, batteries, mobile diagnostics, and overall simple and quick repairs.
Most mechanics working outside rhe shop is like a fish out of water. Mobile mechanic customers are looking for a cheap fix. Get it running, cheap diagnostics, or install some part.
There is some money in it, but you still need a shop! You got to deal with the weather, arguing over price, and you are unable to get shop prices for your work.
You're better off either doing diagnostics for other shops only, or rent a real shop. Dealing with the general public who jist want to know what part it needs and how much does it cost to install it, is a real bitch. Might not be a simple part.
It's like working at the dealership and trying to get paid for 100% diagnosis and fix without installing any parts.
And they get the parts, they buy the cheapest junk available. Unmaintained vehicles is another problem. Not to mention if the bill is higher than 1 paycheck, they don't have the money.
The only way you can fix these peoples cars is if it's a very simple problem. It's rarely ever just brake pads or just a headgasket or water pump. Some water pumps these days run off the damn timing chain! Which is a major bitch outside the shop environment, it's a bitch just working outside.
Then there is the problem nobody around their house or in the parking lot want you there. Police want you to tow that junk somewhere else.
@@JacksAutoDiagnostics this is a very well thought out list. BLUF you’re mostly correct. There are many things I am going to address in a future video. I am a professional business man. I charge a non negotiable price based on book labor. We are bumper to bumper. And if a customer provides their own parts, no warranty, if it doesn’t fit I charge full price, and if needed, I charge to modify. For shops I charge double my hourly rate for advanced diagnostics. And luckily I’ve never had an issue with the police or building managers. And SoCal has great weather year round. So much more I want to cover, I’ll do a video on it and how to run a mobile mechanic business like a business and get higher end clients or how to provide repairs to people on a budget that just want what the vehicle needs, nothing wrong with that either.
